I guess the hatch is just for emergencies only (although I seem to remember you saying in a very early video you might use it if it was raining, maybe you imagined it being a bit bigger and easier to use at that point 😂🤣😂). If you didn't mind losing one seat in the front you could convert the double seat to a single as in "Luke's Van Life", or, if not, then maybe swap the double for something where half of it would fold forward if need be; there are a lot of cars with versatile rear seat configurations that, with the ingenuity you've shown in this build, could, I'm sure, be used to allow two passenger to be accommodated but with the whole of the back of the middle seat folding flat to provide both a tray in normal usage but which would also allow a much bigger hatch into the rear of the vehicle. Think of something like the rear seats of a Citroen Xsara Picasso (which are fully removable and I'm sure there are plenty in scrap yards) although those particular ones might be a tad too wide to fit 2 of them in the space you have.
Anyway, I'm loving your channel which popped up a day or two ago with your van tour video; hopefully you'll start getting the views you deserve soon.

This is a fantastic bulkhead solution! I’m building out a Citroen Relay with zero DIY experience, I would love to replicate it but it might just be too far for my limited skills to push 😂

Hey, give it a shot! We didn't know how we'd build it until we were building it, it was just problem solving as we went, you figure out a way to get it how you want 😊

Love it, i just thought the cabin access was very difficult. Maybe you can cut it abit lower, so you don't have to be a contortionist to exit and enter, it did look dangerous to be honest. Gotta keep you safe AND in one piece lovely lady.

Haha don't worry about me getting through there, unfortunately I couldn't make it any lower because then the seats would block it, this is the lowest place there's a gap, and if I'm making an escape I'd be going the other way, which is easier

Good Morning! I'm very jealous you're in Hawaii - I wish I could drive my van there but there might be some logistical challenges 😂

I've had van conversions with and without bulkheads, pros & cons for both setups. As we're all fickle humans, and sometimes change it good. From having a bulkhead to no bulkhead. That said, I certainly laughed at your entrance from said front of vehicle to rear via your "hatch" ;)

You could have lowered the hatch and built the shelfs higher.Im converting a cargo trailer into a camper.I spent 4 yrs building mobile homes and cargo trailers

Heya! Not quite, the bottom of the hatch lines up with the top of the seats, so there'd be no point lowering it, and the top of the cupboards are as far as they can be before the angle changes again, trust me, I've used every little space 😂
