    I did a recent video on my channel and I think your aerial is the weak link. I used puck versions but was recommended the cheap Bingfu twin aerials and found them so much better. Well worth a try as they're under £15

      I think it's the SIM, everything was brilliant until I put a new one in so I reckon the chips damaged. I fixed the problem but now I have a new one. Had this setup 18 months now and that's been the only snag. I also bought two aerials initially to compare and this one was twice as strong as the other.

      @@vanventureswithjodie I dismissed the notion of the twin aerials at first but they're definitely outperforming puck types across 8 installations I know of. Just passing on information I've been able to verify but each to their own 👍

    The new mini dish from Elon is now being permanently fixed to motor home roofs in USA. What confuses me in doing this. The dish has to be set up facing north. So if its permanently fixed would you always have to position the vehicle facing North.

      Oh how strange! It must still work like that or they wouldn't do it though? I suppose if you're in a dessert in Utah then you always get to choose which way you face, a luxury we don't quite have here in England 😅

I live in an urbanised area of dubai and still managed to get a signal even though I'm on first floor of a 30 storie building. So its a good bit of kit specifically designed for motor homes.

    I've always been on O2. Still free 25G internet roaming across EU plus unlimited phone calls and texts. 100 GB of free internet in UK plus unlimited texts & calls to mobiles and landlines. No extra costs for example when someone calls me from UK while I'm in France or visa versa. Great coverage almost everywhere. Costs total £25 per month with zero extra costs. A useful video thank you. I am thinking of getting a net gear nighthawk m1 or m6 on o2 or ee. My need is to increase my upload speeds for streaming to UA-cam or zoom meetings I also want to pickup the unit and take it in my van to use on the road. So I. Two places basically Can you give me some ideas of average upload speeds you unit or indeed your friends units can get .thank you in advance .best wishes Paul Ps get that van tour video done lol.

      Hi Paul! I uploaded this video last night in about 10 minutes, I've never had problems with upload or download speeds and post all my content on the go. Because of the signal booster my wifi signal is always much stronger than my phone on data. Definitely go with EE though, the coverage is much better for the UK than any other network and I've never heard anyone say otherwise. 100% EE for best data coverage 👌, and thanks for the tour nudge 😊

      @@vanventureswithjodie Thank you so much for the reply Jodie, if I may ask a couple more questions, I know you must be busy, I need to upgrade my broadband at home well in my studio outside of the house for streaming 2hr streams to UA-cam and Zoom meetings for 2hrrs to my students. I have based on your comments talked to EE who say, why I need to spend out on a nighthawk when there is 5g and works perfectly well, I could not answer as I do not know. I need to get well above the 4.5 - 5.2 upload speeds that I get as I cannot get ultrafast BB at home. This is why I am taking a leaf out of your books and looking at a sim. I will need it to be unlimited data. their charge with their router is £55 per month nd no hardware costs although I guess built into that £55. So Why Nighthawk M1 or M6, and not an ee router? I know the ee router can have a signal booster as well I am told. I also want to use it in my van on painting trips to. My main thing is to boost my wifi upload speed for streaming and stream, on the fly when away. So sorry for all of this and I thank you so much in advance. kindest best wishes Paul Always happy to jump on a call if it helps, and you have no objection, but understand if not its cool. .

      @paulappswildlifeart haha well EE are saying don't buy that when you can buy ours! It's up to you which you think is best but in my experience it's cheaper overall to buy the kit upfront and get a contract for the SIM - whether that's for wifi or a phone. Just do the maths on the total cost and bear in mind it will be cheaper in a year and even cheaper in two, so the longer you're locked in the longer you're paying more than the new deals. In a perfect world you'd have a mobile router you can test with in your building. All I know is the mobile routers are usually a get what you pay for situation, as are the signal boosters. I bought a different booster before this based on an old recommendation from gadget john but it was so tall, I decided to try another. I compare the speeds using both and I got almost double with the new flat one, which was also easier to install. I'm pretty happy with the M1, it's small, portable, decent battery life if I want to work from somewhere else for the day. You might not need a booster for a home, for me it's to counteract the metal box effect of the router being inside the vam and losing some of its signal.

    • @vanventureswithjodie
      @vanventureswithjodie 2 дні тому

      Just to compare, my contract with EE for unlimited SIM only was about £25 a month, but I've been with them a LONG time, get a quote for sim only because it sounds like they want £30/month for the router - is that what it's worth over the contact length?

    • @paulappswildlifeart
      @paulappswildlifeart 2 дні тому

      @@vanventureswithjodie Thank you once again Jodie I will do the math. I guess all ee sims are the same just if it is capped or unlimited or pre-bought or on a contract, at the end of the day it is doing and delivering exactly the same service. cheers again for your kindness Paul

    I tested silicone and cyanoacrylate on one of the cutouts from my windows. No cleaning no sanding: Silicone peeled of rather easily, superglue left a thing film of rubber. Cleaned panel: Silicone tore before the rubber, superglue same as before. Cleaned and sanded surface: Silicone tore again before the rubber, superglue same as before. Superglue every time, much easier and faster to apply. I used black cyanoacrylate with rubber content from Amazon.

    I don’t think it’s got anything to do with gender - you’d have received that note regardless of your gender - that’s the way some people are - they mistakenly extend their feelings of entitlement or residence to publicly maintained roads and footpaths. Legally parked is legally parked. We agree that everyone should park considerately - whether a van live-aboarder or a resident living on a street or road. We encounter house owners who don’t like us mooring on the public towpath opposite their home - but they have zero right to have us moved on. These are just petty people who want the world to revolve around them. Life’s not like that.

    Hi Jodie Enjoy your vids. Bit surprised you've made one about your "right" to live (park up) wherever you like. As a fellow campervaner I have a couple of questions for you. In the residential areas where you are living, who is paying for the following? Maintaing the road, verges, streetlights, drains, trees and hedges. Treating and disposing of the water for drinking, washing. Treating toilet waste. Collecting and disposing of rubbish (litter bins, local tip). Dealing with antisocial behaviour issues (not van life related). Answer:- It's the local residents through their council taxes. Are you contributing to these services you are benefiting from? What would happen if lots more people took up van life and did the same thing? Can you understand why local residents might not be happy about that (other than being small minded nimbys)? Good luck and keep making the vids.

      Like I said in the video, if there were designated spaces, I would use (and pay for) them. I have visited some places with motorhome parking areas, but they are a rarity. If everyone was living in vehicles, it would fuel the need for better facilities, but most people take their campers to the continent where it's more accommodating. I do pay for a lot of facilities privately (like gyms), and to charities (the canal and river trust provide toilets, showers, and bins at marinas which I sometimes use), or I visit friends and family and offer them a contribution towards water, electricity, etc. I also litter pick anywhere I see it needs it. And anywhere I go I spend money in the local businesses. I hear where you're coming from, but I can't pay into a system that doesn't exist, and council tax is charged per property, not per person. I do what I can to contribute, given the tax system I have no control over.

    I don’t think there’s a such thing as stealth. People are going to notice when you live in a vehicle. I think it’s just important to not be nuisance to other people and there’s usually not a problem.

    There are vans and 7.5 tonne lorry camper conversions down the road from me and there have also been a couple of women living in a van outside of my flat. Some of the camper conversions look pretty decent. They cause neither myself nor anyone else anything that could even be deemed as reasonably close to "bother" so carry on as you are, ignoring the NIMBYs.
