John Robb is a really, really great interviewer. Asking the right questions, in their own time, at their own pace, while leaving the interviewee tons of space for reflection and expression. So tired am I (as many others are) of today's mainstream interviewing style. They are not interviews anymore, they are interrogations. The only thing missing from them is waterboarding. There's no fluidity, no hint of conversation, just a short sprint of incoherence. Ten questions per minute with 10 interruptions per answer appears to be the standard model. A stand-off between two dogs to see which one can bark the most. This, on the other hand, is super refreshing, extremely enjoyable to listen to. Beautiful work.
Yet another great interview by John Robb who is someone who grew up with punk like a lot of us - love the way he listens and lets the person speak instead of talking all over them and draws out all the information and feelings - really lovely interview and typical of so many that he does.
Pauline Murray's work with Martin Hannett is up there. An unbelievable selection of tracks. Tracks like The Visitor, Drummer Boy, Two Shots. Actually, none of the tracks is bellow the threshold. If a track is not great, it is definetly good. It was a massive loss for music that more wasn't done between them.
Danger Signs should have been a top 30 single , would have been great to see them on TOTP, but I think Pauline is right the band name wouldn’t have slipped out of Steve Wright’s mouth very easily!

Fantastic interview, sadly I couldn't get to Pauline's recent book shows so this was a great treat. Thanks.
