NASA's Operation IceBridge has launched its Antarctic 2012 campaign, flying high-priority missions measuring polar ice from a base of operations at the tip of Patagonia on the Strait of Magellan. They have even made a return visit to the Pine Island Glacier, the site of last year's discovery of a massive rift in the ice.
Sea ice doesn't always hold the allure of a massive ice sheet, or a crevassed blue glacier spilling between mountains, but it comes in array of shapes and sizes and has its own ephemeral beauty. Operation IceBridge studies sea ice at both poles, and also runs across interesting formations on route to other targets. Operation IceBridge returned to the Pine Island Glacier twice in 2012, and NASA glaciologist Kelly Brunt discusses the implications of the glacier's impending calving event.
Operation IceBridge has now returned to the Pine Island Glacier, not once, but twice in 2012. And the year-old giant crack in the glacier, poised to create an iceberg the size of New York City? Well it's still there, and that iceberg has yet to break free. But the rift has grown longer, much wider, and spawned a secondary crack. Before we talk about when that mighty berg will be born, let's take a look at the IceBridge missions themselves. IceBridge's first return to the region was a high altitude flight over the entire region, including the Thwaites, Smith, and Kohler glaciers. After this campaign is over, scientists will be able to compare this broad survey with previous years' measurements in order to better document the rapid and widespread changes in the region over time.

What about the fact that the ice level is raising in Antartic for 3 years now and that it's raising again in Artic since 2013 ?

Bull. You guys make this stuff up as you go along? Sheeple at their best. Both the arctic and antarctic have been increasing in Toto for the last 7 years, the locations has changed. The mean temp in Antarctica is -56 F. Unless there has been a major change int physics, nothing melts at those temps.

Calving is what happens when you take an icecube, warm it, and you witness those large cracks and fissures burst across the icecube. Its the same with these glaciers just on a much, much larger scale. So large that you can walk down the fissure like a valley.

+Ziggy “Frappanised” Zappada Sceptical isn't a word. If it were, it would mean you are full of shit. So in essence, you are sceptical. Septic, that is. Perhaps focus on personal growth and learn English? Perhaps spend less time being hypnotised by the screen and learn actual science? Nah, too hard? I guess it's easier to feed at the trough than it is to look up and learn something tangible.
It's sad that you'd follow the sophistry of youtube videos while denying yourself the pleasure and mystery of our physical sciences. I guess you'd simply label anyone that questions reality as a scientist? Or is that you? You contradict yourself. Allow me to elucidate; you question reality, take the easy explanation (junk fed) and then use confirmation bias to reinforce your delusion. You then claim those who quanitify, question and quite publicly question our reality as being some kind of lying cult?
Think about that for a moment.

The problem is government doesn't do anything to earn money except through taxation and fees. When people say "it's free because government paid for it " I want to scream. We the people have paid for it. This is basic civics, which I thought was still taught in mid level school.

One more point to consider on this man-made global warming issue, which no one seems to be raising. Even if we in America, and all of Europe, were to adopt draconian emission controls (and virtually ruin our economies in the process) -- what about the worst polluter and CO2 emitter in the world, China? What about Russia? Or the emerging third-world nations that are heavy on the CO2 emissions, such as India, Indonesia, Brazil, Argentina, Iran, Mexico? There's no barriers to CO2 -- it travels the world over. A glance at any table of CO2 emissions by nation shows that the United States and the European Union could stop all such emissions, and that would only account for about 25 percent of the world's total.
    .
Is there anyone out there naïve enough to think that China, which produces about 22 percent (and steadily rising) of CO2 is going to cut THEIR economic activity to get in line with some utopian fancy of man-made climate change? If so, I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. The Chinese are a fast-emerging economic power, and there's nothing that's going to dissuade them from their goals. First (and almost within reach now) is economic hegemony over Asia. Next (which some economics say is only a couple decades off) is to the THE major economic power of the world. (Which will probably happen, as long as the United States keeps shooting ourselves in the foot). These have been China's stated goals for decades now, and nothing is going to make them hobble their economy while pursing them. Bank on it. And, as they are still a very statist society, there's no internal pressure to make them change, either. Russia, which seems to be "re-Sovietizing" before our very eyes, is not going to be left out in the cold either, and fail to grab their share of economic prosperity. And who's going to tell the emerging economies of Asia, central and South America that -- well, it's too bad for them, but due to man-made climate change, they're going to have to stay down in the third world. Just some more "food for thought", and another reason to look very closely at this climate change science we're being spoon-fed.

A guess of mine would be that its possibly an infrared lasercom system from an orbital satellite directed at the artic base. And due the the ccd camera in this video having such a high gain in low light conditions it would stand a very good chance of detecting signals weaker than even the human eye could see and still appear blinding in the image. I am not sure what the energy density at the receiving end would be and that depends greatly on the divergence and output power of the transmitting laser but even if the spot size on the ground were 100 meters in diameter im sure it would still be bright enough for cameras to see.
just a little of my two cents from my days at NASA..

No, I'm not talking about an actual curve because it's basically impossible to see one from so low, unless you're talking about the horizon itself. Basically, if you see other ships, you can see that a curve exists because they will disappear into the horizon bottoms first, which means that the horizon is lower than your current position. This will be true everywhere, and if you have navigational equipment, and can calculate your distance between land on the horizon and your current distance, you could use that to calculate the Earth's shape: a sphere.

There have been several flights right over Antarctica too - there is even a video on UA-cam where they fly around the Antarctica from Sidney and back to Sidney - it took 12 hours. According to your model that would give an average speed of the flight that is over 6000 km/h due to the distance of your coast line that goes along with the edge of your 40 000 km diameter earth disc. Your almost correct. The difference in salinity/density of the sea water and the fresh water ice, causes an increase in volume of about 2.6% because fresh water ice floats better in salt water than in fresh water. However, sea ice will have minimal effect on rising oceans. Its the land ice of Greenland and Antarctica that will cause oceans to rise. 100% of that volume will be added to the oceans.

This video is old and there has been record ice growth in 2013 and 2014 is well above average. The sky is not falling, the sea is still in the same place. If anything we're headed for another ice-age. With the accelerated movement of the poles and the lack of sunspots, we should see a great drop in temperature in the next couple decades. Yes there is a lot of CO2 in the atmosphere, we put a lot there, but there is no conclusive evidence that the heightened levels will actually cause a temperature rise globally. Also please feel free to search for the changes on Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. These changes where caused by the Sun and not us. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to bring my SUV to Mars and tear it up but its not going to happen. So, take off your blinders and take a look at the BIG picture!

      - There has been record sea ice growth in Antarctica, but sea ice does not affect sea level rise at all. The record sea ice is due to stronger westerly winds which are blowing cold Antarctic air further out over the ocean east of Antarctica. "Fact is" that the Antarctic glaciers are undisputedly melting at an alarming pace that does not correspond to any natural cycle.

Thank heaven for a film so strong that it tells us the truth rather than liberal propaganda!
At least from what I see here I now know I have no worries about global warming. Antarctica is healthy and getting more and more so every year.
At least this teaches us to think for ourselves with the facts rather than Al Gore saying, 'there is no more room for discussion'. Can you imagine the intellectual arrogance?

Man on earth is like ants on a cruise ship. We have no more control over the climate than we do the steering.

The most important expedition in the history of the world was Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd's flight 1700 miles past the North pole; the center of the great unknown was done and confirmed.

This is BS. They are talking about 10% of Antartica. 90% of Antartica has been growing in size.
Total earth ice extent is now at a 25 year high.
