It's an interesting beast of a device! It looks like it's really straddling the lines of productivity and portability, while not committing to being overpowered(overpriced) nor underpowered (Celeron/i3)! Cool that this device exists, I think it's a much more compelling case than anything else at its price point for pretty much any use case. Huge fan, keep it up!
I definitely think more people should be buying them for every day usage and minimal pressure workloads. They have their place! I like that they've boosted power and performance in the new Chromebook Plus range, although it's a shame battery life didn't live up to the expectation I had. Price point alone - especially when they quite often go on sale - is a great move and I hope to see them improve the overall experience with them. Thank you, appreciate the support, Boy
While having a personal preference is certainly understandable, I don't think the narrative that video editing is as impossible or tedious as is illustrated in this video. The people on Chrome Unboxed absolutely edit and run their entire channel on Chrome devices. Yes,, they do have incentives to promote the platform and the OS but nonetheless, the narrative that content creators need a Mac or Windows to run their channel is not entirely true. In the end, it's about a WANT and what you're most comfortable with. Good video.
I never stated a creator needs a Mac or Windows. I explained that's what I use. I also explained how editing did not work for me with Capcut and I won't be purchasing Luma Fusion to test it for one video as I've invested a lot into Final Cut Pro. So to use the free software that I can use on here (CapCut) is as far as I'll go with my personal experience. It didn't work for me, and i also never said a Chromebook is a bad decision.
I'm not sure what you watched but I purely expressed my issues with Capcut just not working. Doesn't mean it's impossible for everyone but it was impossible for me on this day. Especially with how long it took to import whilst draining the battery, as well as lagging and glitching out as soon as I tried to edit. That's not efficient for me and so I won't do it. Doesn't mean others shouldn't do it either. It was my day in the life and I'm not going to lie when something just doesn't work for me in my own day in the life. Why I'm responding so much is because you're insinuating here that I've structured a narrative to express that you cannot video edit on here at all, when it was just purely my experience for the whole day.
@@Liessshy I never said that you said that. I was speaking in general about content creators and UA-cam influencers, who seemingly conflate and confuse what they claim is a need, when it actually is a want and a preference. Many influencers on this platform tend to elevate a prefered piece of hardware or software, while fasihiong false narratives about the alternatives which exist, simply to justify their purchase or prefered platform. I like your content and appreciate your shared experience.
Thank you for the info about the caps lock button! I'm considering a chromebook plus for my mom and this is something I hadn't noticed even though I've used these before.
How did the Stardew mug perform in a day? Anyway that battery performance is such a deal breaker for me... Hmmm. I don't do a lot of heavy media editing except some Canva maybe once a month but I will need a lot of interaction with projectors in most parts of my work day (10AM-10PM). I think this will drain it like crazy as well... Sad.
Chromebooks are superb and are capable of video editing but the multimedia software needs to catch up to the hardware. I use Kdenlive editor for Linux. Fair assessment on the machine.
I really appreciate the honesty! And it's true whah they say, you get what you pay for I absolutely love my MacBook Pro (I use it mainly for music production) but I think it might be ok for my GF, she's a writer, so it should be a good option for her, and a decent upgrade from what she currently has 🙂
It will be a great option for her! Those types of use case scenarios would benefit from this. Any kind of photography, videography or music production wouldn't, however. And that's fine because this really isn't targeted at those kinds of customers!
yo, nice video. could you turn up your mic volume a bit? it's quite hard to hear you at points in the video. (or just set the gain higher in final cut)
@@Liessshy sounds good! This video was great as I personally used a Chromebook while traveling for around 4 years. Seeing other people’s opinions on these lightweight laptops interests me quite a bit. Subscriber earned!
FYI the build quality you are talking about is totally there on chromebook...the prob is you are using the wrong one to know that since you are using the free one asus sent you for a product review. I own a cpl from asus and the build quality is pretty good.
"I have the brightness up about 3/4 of the way"... also the keyboard backlight on in a fully illuminated room. "I've got Google open". Do you mean Chrome? Ah, of course you need to spend time on Pinterest to build a mood board.
Lumafusion is available for video editing or WEvideo,,, web video editor editor why did you spend $ 1,000 on a Chromebook ???? i think you can change the shift arrangements
I didnt buy the laptop. It was given to me by Google to make a video on (I did a previous video). I chose to do this day in the life video with the laptop.
just get a better laptop in terms of specs and put linux on it which is better than ChromeOS, chromebooks are bad if its not "cloud apps" and internet browsing only in my opinion this one its not worth the price

No criticism, but it is possible to change the search/everything key to be a caps lock key in the Chromebooks settings.

The noise might be coil whine. It's not considered an issue, even tho it might be annoying, because it's an unpredictable physical phenomenon.
Never had it occur in any laptop I've used before. Thanks for the tip 👍🏻

you can now get the CX34 with the I5 12th gen for $639 from JB. that makes it a very complelling buy for that price.
