If Gohan could get any edgier, he'd stab us through the screen.

In this version of Gohan it kinda makes sense. Whenever he got angry he talked about eviscerating people but never fully snapped. So when he finally let go.. It makes sense that this would be the result. It IS the opposite which is the point. He held back because he was afraid to let it out. He feared if he gave in and killed someone as a result. He would never go back to normal. Thats why he was a pacifist in the first place and why he hates fighting. Not to mention his daddy issues. I loved this episode and your reaction to it
donald Na he also never remembers what happens when he snaps in the abridged version so I wonder if he’ll remember anything after he break. And just have him “snap” again when he gets a boost in the buy arc.
I do wonder about that too. If they make the buu arc (which I hope they do) it will be interesting to find out. I also wonder. Before he never gave full in. Now that he has does that change anything. Before it was blind rage. This seems to be far more focused. Maybe that will have some sort of effect as well.
People (myself included) got angry/disappointed that Gohan stopped training after this, but I think it's because we never truly got just how much he didn't like fighting. With this version, it makes much more sense that he would grow up the way he did.
He eventually comes back around but not in any major way where you care. Maybe it would've been different had Toriyama gone with the original plan of having Gohan take over as the protagonist.
It's not that he doesn't like it. The saiyan in him will always like it. It's just not his main priority and I would say Chi Chi is a big reason for it
Edginess isn't automatically bad. Honestly, I love this version of Gohan. He's always been a bit of a bloodthirsty sadist whenever he's about to snap in this abridged series. It being out of character is the point too.
That's the point though. It's supposed to be out of character for him because he's no longer acting as the way he wants, but the way his rage permits him.
Well, edgy is only use as a derogatory word when there is violence without any meaningful purpose, so yeah is bad. Other thing is to use the word in EVERY gore/bloody scene
See I dont really understand the gripe that this is out of character when thats the entire point of the scene.
Gohan "letting go" wasnt just about him getting angry, it was about him dropping his previous ideology and world view. The entire point of Gohans struggle in part one was that if he let himself snap, then he wouldnt be himself anymore. He says it in this episode, he was afraid that he would loose himself, and in a sense, he did.
However, this isn't the younger Gohan that simply got angry and threw a fit. He is entirely aware of what hes doing. Hes pushing aside everything he stood for because he has too, because the circumstances created by the people around him force him too, and he hates it. Every line, while very edgy, has the underlining sentiment of "You asked for this". As if Gohan does not want this, but knows he has to do this. Infact, he pretty much verbatim says this to Cell.
Yeah I'm surprised she didn't get it considering how much she understood the previous part.
Out of all the smack talk and edginess coming from gohan, I think my favorite edition is the part where Gohan calls Goku out for all the shit he's done. Brilliant writing there. I didn't think about how hypocritical Goku was being in that moment until then, and even if it doesn't fully justify Gohan doing the same, they at least addressed it much better here, to the point where I bought into it.
They really built up Goku's regret for what he did and it paid off in the end. Goku finally explaining himself to gohan in the end and apologizing was sooo good and made it more impactful than the original. Another great job by TFS
Yeah, I agree . Something I saw from comments of the previous part was people complaining that Goku isn't that bad of a father because lots of his actions crappy actions are for the sake of the world or not his fault, usually the training or being dead. But at the same time there are a lot of actions he takes that are super selfish in spite of the world's condition like the ones addressed in the rant, and as picalo said the ends don't justify the means all the time. So having Goku die with cleaning up his mess in realisation was a good moment that if it wasn't an abridged would be a turning point in his character for the better.
@@alphax-shroom6781 you do know that goku is the main villain of the series right? Toriyama actually went out of his way to make it the driving force in DB:S with the tournament of power arc.
@@alannorris3819 You say that like he consciously made it so the universes would be destroyed. Regardless, it's not Toriyama writing him in Super
Just to point out, when a Saiyan first goes Super Saiyan, their emotions as well as their power is amplified many times over... and given that anger is the key to the transformation, that's why the first time they transform they tend to become incredibly vicious. So while it may be out of character for Gohan to be that edgy, it's not entirely his own fault. Hitting Super Saiyan 2 must be a bitch for his emotional state... like puberty x1000...
Would basically represent Gohan was still somewhat tame in this lol.
Oh, I didn't catch that callback at the end
Gohan: "Oh no, Cell's about to explode, what would my dad do in this situation?"
Goku: "Bye, son!"
I mean, Gohan was like that in the original story.
Not really. The whole pacifist angle was never a thing with Gohan. He was just scared and had low confidence in himself most of the time.
+VileGlory
I think he's referring to Gohan being "edgy" as a Super Saiyan 2. Obviously he wasn't exactly like how the Abridged series portrays him, but the whole point of Super Saiyan 2 at this point of the story is that it's a culmination of all the times he's snapped and gotten a rage power boost previously in the story. Gohan suddenly gets angry and bloodthirsty and violent and goes on an emotionally-fueled rampage until he calms down.
In the Cell Saga, Super Saiyan 2 is exactly this but slightly more controlled. Gohan is more of a "silent-furious" than a "loud-furious" like he was all the other times this happened to him. And the characters acknowledge this in both the original series *and* the Abridged, that Gohan raises many red flags here in this new form that take his vengeance toward Cell too far thanks to his new attitude. That's why so many people in the comments are a bit peeved at Gohan being called "edgy" and "out of character" in this Abridged episode.
Thematically, it was what the entire series was building up to. Especially in Abridged, where Gohan has been growing slowly more resentful over his father's stupid actions toward his enemies and calls him out on all of them in this episode.
There's a nice parallel here. Trunks wanted to fight the villains of his time, but he wasn't strong enough to finish them right away and because of that Gohan died. So he went back in time to help Gohan fight the villain of his time, but Gohan wasn't strong enough to finish him right away and because of that Trunks died.
And while History of Trunks did their whole story rather emotionally, it was the recent Xenoverse 2 that had Future Trunks meet with Gohan right before he went off to fight the Androids and die. That was a rather sweet moment that gives some nice closure to their story.
Beriorn And then Super and Black took a shit on everything Trunks accomplished lol
Well, it's not that Gohan wasn't strong enough, he definitely could have killed Cell before he exploded (he just had a saiyan moment).
No. Gohan absolutely was strong enough to finish off Cell. Unfortunately, "letting go" included Gohan's common sense and he took too long to do the job.
Wait, but doesn't Trunks live after the Cell games? It's been a while since I watched the OG Cell games and I always thought Trunks was healed after the fight. I mean I remember watching Trunks go back to his own timeline and beat the shit out the androids, and "86'd" Cell.
@@megaman37456 He's referring to a timeline in Xenoverse 2 where Future Trunks goes back to the future in order to talk to adult Gohan before adult Gohan flies off to die by 17 and 18. Trunks was knocked out when it originally happened so he never had closure. The guy meant Gohan dying, not Trunks.
Gohan being out of character. Kinda the point
At least this "Teen" Gohan has more of a character. The Teen Gohan from the official anime was more or less just a rage monster.
Yeah.
Like 16 said, Gohan thought he was better than everybody else. That didn't change completely after his transformation, it's just that he had now abandoned his morals and held all his gripes up like a flag. Basically, he got rid of the one thing he usually held above everybody else (his principles and his orientation towards peace and harmony) in order to really let loose, but that also means that he really got to show everybody around him how he really feels about them, which mostly manifests in his extensive issues with his father, and with the extensively immoral and straight-up stupid decisions everybody around him kept making.
Him screwing up at the end was sort of necessary to teach him humility, to make it clear to him that getting carried away and making wrong decisions is absolutely normal and very human, and that it's still possible for people to realize their mistakes and try to make up for them. Otherwise who knows where his rage would've carried him. If he continued being the cold-hearted killer devoid of morality he was in this episode, I don't see it going in a very good direction.
I liked the sinister feel of this SSJ2 gohan, because it sends a message that indulging in rage and violence is something to be afraid of rather than to celebrate. Also it shows that this is a negative thing that they've done to gohan, like yes they need his power but this transformation isn't good for him mentally, hence the "red flag" stuff. Also the negative comments feel like they work because even like he says, he hates being like that and he never wanted to, it was the people around him(mainly cell) who forced him to do it and since he's incredibly angry and unrestrained, now he lashes out a bit verbally.
Actually this is completely in character for Gohan. Every time he snapped he shut off a part of himself. The other times he shut off his mind and went on full emotion. This time was different as he shut off his emotion and went full intellect. The repercussions just didn't faze him anymore. .... Well not until they were shoved in his face.
9:29 Interestingly enough, Gokū was not talking about Kamehameha, but rather the way Cell is using it. Remember how both Vegeta and Freeza reacted when Gokū was getting upper hand against them? Pretty much what Cell is doing here: trying to blow up the planet.
I never thought of that. He really should recognize it though. That's basically what he wanted to make Cell think he was gonna do before he popped up in front of him.
Did he? Did he, really?
All I'm saying is he didn't mention master roshi, and i feel like that's kind of offensive.
Other than misinterpreting that I'm trolling, no. Actually I guess you're misinterpreting that I misinterpreted the joke too. Hey, that's something freeza or vegeta would do jajaja.
No need. I didn't realize until op's comment that the joke was more than just Goku being an idiot.
Honestly how he acts in Ssj2 isn't surprising... I mean just remember back when Goku went Ssj1... Yeah he wasn't nowhere near as aggressive but 1. He has some control as he's an "adult" while Gohan's only a kid... 2. This is the second form in the series so the emotions generated are bound to be more worse especially since he's a kid... 3. I can't remember what I was gonna say...
Anyways has anyone ever thought that if there was going to be a canon Legendary Super Saiyan(if we didn't already have one be made canon recently) that it should of been Gohan... I do... I mean when you take in consideration his crazy potential it would definitely fit...
I dont think its out of character
Saiyans always revel in their own power and have a false sense of security with each power boost.
While Gohan hates that part of himself, this is the moment when he finally gives in to his primal saiyan urges so its fitting for him to become over confident
It’s too bad that “edgy” is being used to describe anything remotely dark in a character.. it’s not like there’s no reason for Gohan to be psychopathic after becoming basically untouchable, have you seen the rest of his life up to this point in the series?? This is at least appropriate, if not expected.
Exactly.
Well, also think about it in another way: Gohan's experinced and seen so much torture, death, and messed up shit since he was roughly 4. Six years (since you take out his year in the time chamber) where even he was tortured and held hostage. He always felt so weak, and hardly remembered every time he snapped. So when he finally fully snaps, but has control, what does he resort to? What he's learned in his years of fighting: torture and humiliate your opponent until you break them.
It's just that Gohan didn't kill him right after humiliating him.
I am aware of all that. I just like the name, "edge-lord Gohan"
Goku became more different too when he became a super saiyan
It might be a Hunter X Hunter reference.
Ohhhhh! Yes! That was it! What Kurapika says when he’s fighting Uvogin. No wonder I didn’t immediately pick up on it. It’s been a while since I watched that.
Yeah its like word for word.
Hunter X Hunter was my first thought
Umm what you talking about?
MasakoX's badass Gohan reminds me of how TFS wrote Bardock in the two movies. It's a nice touch, since he's his grandson by birth.
WOAAAAAH.
The Point is, DBZA Gohan ISNT DBZ Gohan. By Far. DBZA Gohan has real Fatherissues and deep hatred against his Father and all that Saiyans ect etc.
And thats also a Point why he tried not to Snap. As he said, he was worried about he will never came back to normal this time. And all everything what was in him came out in that brutal, aggressiv and mocking Attitude. They nailed it pretty well. But u cant compare it to DBZ because beside beeing a Parody, DBZA is its own Canon with its own Characterdevelopment. Thats what i love about it.
Cell is like Vegeta when he's winning, but Frieza when he's losing. He terrorizes everyone looking for a good fight, but as soon as he starts getting beaten he'll resort to dirty tricks. Kinda the perfect villain personality to enjoy a curb-stomp battle.
I loved how Gohan returned to his deep seated daddy issues in this one.
yeah i enjoyed how TFS really drove it home that when Gohan gave into anger he essentially casted aside his human, logical/pacifist side, and fully embraced his saiyan side by showing him acting like Goku and Vegeta. He even has the perfect interaction with trunks by telling him to forget he is half vegeta lmao
Edgelord, sarcastic, abrasive Gohan is actually quite amusing to me.
You're still one of the first reaction channels I look to as soon as I watch a new DBZA ep alone, along with Tyrone Magnus :)
Edit:
I can actually see a path where Gohan goes villain after going SSJ2. I mean the way he looks & those glares he gives cell isn't just badass, it's almost dangerous in a way. Imagine for a second a timeline where that first Kamehameha wave obliterates cell entirely, and then Gohan realizes he *likes* the new form, and his overconfidence engulfs him. It's hard to see a timeline where he'd turn on his friends, but I'm sure I could find a way to make him at least want to kill Vegeta :D That would make an interesting story arc imo.
I thought years ago that it was incredibly lame they turned him into such a minor character after this moment in the series. Least for a good while anyway.
Holy christ, that'd be a great Alternate Timeline arc to explore.
Cell is dead, and everyone wonders "Hey Gohan, the fight's over. You can turn down the Super Saiyan now."
And Gohan goes, "No....I like this. I'm the most powerful capable being on the planet."
Goku, "Gohan please don't tell me you're getting a God complex from this."
Gohan, "I'm not playing God. Up until now, I've been playing human."
It could start with him enacting revenge on Vegeta for all the strife he's caused him. But of course it wouldn't stop there. It'd keep going until he finds himself reacting instinctively to kill his own friends. Imagine Gohan never powering down, staying in SSJ2 nonstop, getting stronger in it just like the training in the time chamber. It takes Goku a while, be he eventually realizes that he needs to clean up after his mistake. Goku takes a day in the time chamber to unleash SSJ2 himself, and he goes to confront Gohan, now supremely drunk on power to the point where he's just rampaging. Goku begs Gohan to return back to being his son again, preparing to do the necessary, expecting himself to be strong enough to beat his own son. But as Goku transforms to SSJ2, Gohan reveals that him staying SSJ2 constantly allowed him to reach a level beyond that, and Gohan transforms to SSJ3. Goku stands no chance and falls to his own son.
Take a look at Blind Wave. They're easily the best of the reaction channels out there. And they actually know what they're talking about.
Oh believe me. I'm way, way ahead of you. Blind Wave is a channel I've been watching since their episode 1 reaction. But you hit the nail on the head there with what I enjoy in reactions. :)
I would have loved to see evil, SSJ2 Gohan happen before the Freeza saga.
Perhaps we throw an arc in there where Gohan destroys the dragonballs and / or Piccolo & Kami (in a whole Darth Vader killing Obi-Wan way lol), because the dragonballs are one of the few things he can't predict and can be used against him. Then the gang hears about Namek, Only Gohan beats them there somehow, and we have an entire story arc about the gang trying to wish back Goku to stop his son, and Gohan trying to destroy the Namek dragonballs, and then they all run into a super powerful Freeza.
Golden Freeza off the bat?
Goku + Vegeta + Freeza vs SSJ2 Gohan?
Oh the fanfiction possibilities.
And then, when they've killed Gohan, and he turns good, and they revive him as a good character......
Majin SSJ3 Gohan. Bwahahahah
I hope someone's ready to go God to stop him this time...
*So... you gonna eat that?*
Careful Cell, Your Yajirobe is showing lol
He is pissed and hungry. We are right to fear him.
I don't think Yajirobe was included in the mix.
@@Cyclonestorm8 TFS Cell has everyone, except Yamcha.
I just remembered that was a reference to the Cell vs Fist of the North Star video
@@AnimatorsatWork Actually, it's a reference to the fact that Cell essentially 'eats' anyone he absorbs and considered absorbing 18 in the same vein as eating her.
Edgy Gohan is a perfect representation of what happens when you snap and refuse to listen to others when you decide to release your anger. Props to TFS for pulling it off.
You're telling me you have all this dragon ball gear in the background yet you think gohan is out of character? lmao
Gohan was edgy before edgy was a thing. Love your reactions. So honest. You are one of the VERY FEW who are a fan first, and a youtuber second.
Abridging realy evolve, before was just a bunch of wisecracks and references, now they make scenes that are even better then the originals
I wouldn't go as far to say they are better than the originals (barring SAO abridged). The original still holds well on its own.
Did you see the new YGOTAS episode? I was amazingly serious
references and jokes are much better and needs time and effort , so yeah the old is better .
Agreed. While it may not exactly be better than the original, it stands as a perfectly legitimate dub all its own. DBZA may as well be looked at as a perfectly valid alternate version of the story. Hell, over on Blind Wave, the guys have been going through the entire series (started a couple years ago and when they caught up they give TFS a few days to let the original video get more views before doing their own reaction and even then tell people to see TFS's video before watching theirs). Of the main three who watch the series, one is familiar with both DBZ and DBZA, one has only seen DBZ, and one has never seen anything, so is experiencing the story for the first time through the abridged series.
And he's loving it too. I bet if the guy (I think his name is Calvin?) watched the original DBZ after seeing the abridged he'd be underwhelmed, especially with how the dude in the middle constantly yammers about how all these scenes were better in the original when they really weren't, nostalgia goggles play a huge part.
I think Gohan is an INFP, and trust me, when you make an INFP snap and they go into full Te grip, this is the result. Everyone thinks we're all sweet and innocent, and we try our best to live up to that. INFPs are extremely hard to piss off because we much prefer to avoid conflict. But when you succeed in making us truly, deeply angry on an existential level, this is 100% the result. And we'll judge ourselves harshly for it afterward. But, the thing is, if you manage to make someone like me or Gohan angry enough that they snap and fall into Te grip, you probably deserve everything you're about to get. Pissing us off this much is not easy, so you probably did something very wrong.
Gohan being out of character is kind of the point...
I feel like for the next part itll tie in with the rest of fighters "being irrelevant" storylinne and allow them to be together to face off cell as in the original fight with out the other fighters Gohan wouldn't be able to hold off cell alone
That was all filler. The only canon part is Vegeta hitting cell
Nintendex well it’s good filler and does actually give the other guys something to do instead of benching them for many this is the last big thing they do in DBZ , hell yamcha never did anything after this not even in super (besides the baseball episode) where they have tien something to do and made android 17 a fan favourite
Space Penguins That explains why Kai kept it in. Adds more weight to the best beam clash in the series. Hope tfs doesn't exclude it.
Well the only one that actually did something was Vegeta, even then it didn't amount to much more than a distraction. The rest of them just gave cell an itch on his back. The only reason why Cell was too strong for Gohan was because of the broken arm.
I love the Billy Ocean reference. Cell singing 'Suddenly' is my favorite part of this episode
*"I did exactly what my dad and Vegeta do. What is this shit, genetic?"*
Actually? Yeah. Yeah it is. It's a big problem in the Saiyan race. The flipside of making a race that gets stronger every time they almost die is... they're compelled to look for opportunities to almost die.
Yes
Cell got the PERFECT kicked out of him!

OK is it just me or am I constantly falling for that smile..
Your preamble this episode really showcases your understanding of the show, original and abridged.
Part 2 is both seriously and hilariously well written and I LOVED it!
Holy shit i love this "Evil" Gohan. It's a fucking crazy serial killer! Even Goku was scared about him!
One thing to remember, both within the abridged and the true canon, is that when Goku for example first went super Saiyan, his attitude took a drastic shift towards the more sadistic and serious, and less comical or time. It wouldn't make sense for Gohan, going to the next level to have a similar reaction or a more extreme reaction to be honest
i thought sociopath Gohan was really fitting. You get to see more of who he really is as a person later in the episode - but it makes sense for him to be drunk with power and want to make Cell suffer. It's true to the source material, just hammers home the point a bit more that Gohan has gone away and left a killing machine in his place.
I thought TFS brought it back really well too with Gohan's reaction to his dad's sacrifice.
goku: oh no
vegeta: oh no
gohan: oh no
cell: OH YEA
XD
This gohan was amazing
This is gonna sound weird.. but I loved how you flinch at Gohan's screams. just because I felt the same way.. the amount of emotion put into their voice acting was great.
U forget its an abridged series. Look back at their early work. Goku vs raditz. Goku is an actual idiot, he still is, thats his abridged character, abridged does their character's their own way.
To me it feels EXACTLY like what his character would do.. Because he has always thought that violence and killing is wrong, with goku and everyone telling him to do it he accepted, but only out of necessity.. he still felt it was wrong so now he acted as someone who is "bad" or like everyone wanted him to act.. but once he gets a more realistic view of everyone he can see it's not black or white like he thought before.. It's more grey
I think gohan had all of those thoughts but he was just too nice to say it but after he let go the nice wall came down and he embraced the rage, the hate and violence that come with it basically sayian attitude but more rational
Is it wrong that I've been waiting for *this* more than the actual episode?

Why does this feel like things got cut out? I thought mr satan asked if the camera was 100% out before saying he had no fucking idea

I'm sure, this Gohan can beat the Old Broly.
Probably my favorite out of the entire abridged series
8:33 The music during Gohan's speech to Cell is 'Frieza's Horrific Power' from Revival of F.
When you said "Cell will probably explain [how he survived] next time", it suddenly came to me: Muffin button.
Her Part 1 reaction had a bit cut out too, maybe the whole streaming-a-stream deal caused a hiccup?
wasn't the original, that part of him stayed, regenerated and had a zenkai boost?
@@clearcat7296 Yep. But first Cell will say: Muffin button. I'm calling it. ;-)
I'm sure, Cell's technique who killed Trunks would have seriously hurt the Old Broly.

I honestly don't see how any of this was out of character for TFS Gohan. This was perfect and exactly what they've been showing all these years.
i looove how your eyes bright when you make this reactions! you really enjoy what you´re watching and not all people who react accomplish that or at least transmit the same level of emotion :)
(At 4:52) Suddenly by Billy Ocean
I mean.. it's really not out of character for him. It's been building and building to this for..ever, with him snapping. It's not surprising at all that he'd be like this, honestly.
I don't understand the cringe from the edge, tho. It's just like.. everything he'd normally hold back is just let all at once. All that repressed anger, resentment at..practically everything and it's just like him going nuts, Haha. I guess it is what it is! I love this version of Gohan tho tbh.
Well Gohan does have all the ingredients of a tykebomb.
Never seen your videos before this one, but just wanted to say you have an amazing smile!
Everyone hates on edgy shit now because bullshit social media memes fucked it all up. Team four star did really good with gohan's character in my opinion. They did it right and it makes sense that he would be this way. This is way more in depth then just the " typical edgy pre teen with angst scenario" that everyone thinks it is because they can't seem to give it any real thought.
Gohan wasn't out of character here.
It's characteristic of the saiyans to lose themselves more and more to a cold, calm, arrogant persona (basically Vegeta's persona) with every level super saiyan they ascend to.
In GT, Goku says he kind of loses control of himself when he goes SSJ4. Goku's voice actor has said that with every ascention, the sayian voice actors are told to speak in a slightly lower tone of voice to greater emphasize these SSJ characteristics.
(Compare Goku's normal voice to when he first goes SSJ3.)
In this video, Gohan is an 11 year old, and he's going SSJ2 for the first time.
It makes perfect sense to say he'd lose himself to these super saiyan characteristics easily in this instance.
It seems like they even lowered his voice, like they do in the canon series.
TFS did this one exactly right.
Referring to Gohan being "edgy" as a Super Saiyan 2... Obviously he wasn't exactly like how the Abridged series portrays him, but the whole point of Super Saiyan 2 at this point of the story is that it's a culmination of all the times he's snapped and gotten a rage power boost previously in the story. Cell *wanted* him to snap and *says* so. Goku wanted the same thing, and did it out of a misunderstanding of Gohan's interests and personality in both versions. Super Saiyan 2 is a result of this.
its similar to the speech that superman tells the fusion of brainiac and darkseid in the finale of justice league unlimited altough his speech was more about his need to hold back
Also when sayians go ssj and ssj2 their behavior change dramaticly which also played a part in gohans behavior
I totally love all your vids Gabby please never stop!!! Twitter is not enough lol
Gohan wasn't "edgy" he was snapped. His usual snaps are like explosions, quick and powerful but gone in an instant. THIS snap was a nuke basically. The explosive start but followed by the deadly nuclear winter.
I noticed that some parts of the episode were missing but still fun to watch
All these years and not once have i seen a copyright claim on a dbz abridged episode. Part 2 of episode 60 has been taken down wtf?
Not trying to come off rude but You know not all edgyness is bad right Gabby?
The problem is edginess has become cliche.. so while it may not be bad it can never be a great character trait.
"Edgy" is itself the excessive use of angst.
From where I'm sitting, it's perfectly understandable that Gohan is like this, especially since the transformation itself is represented by emotional overload.
So it's very angsty, but since it's fitting and plays into themes of the story, it's not really "edgy". Edgy would be like acting like that just from being told to do his homework. XD

I look forward to this almost as much as the original. One of my favorite reactors along with Kaggy. They're... perfect...
Edit: I personally teared up during Goku's speech, his recognition that most of this was his fault. That his very plan was to let Vegeta fuck up and grant myself Perfection. And the first time he acknowledged both his mistakes and told Gohan how he feels towards him. Right in the feels.
It's only "edge" if you can't back it up.
For the first time that *POP* sound made me sad :(
That pop when goku and cell left sounded Epic. Like the sound barrier breaking.
I think TFS sort of wrote themselves into a corner with Gohan here, throughout the abridged version of the series, he blames everyone around him for his situation. He blames his mother for not having a childhood (note he doesn't get toys for Christmas, but books, mentioned from multiple movie abridged). Basically they wrote a lot of resentment into his character, and I think the scene here with Goku is meant to be a turning point for him, realizing that his dad and he spent a year together, and it was Goku's best year of his life, Goku realizing that Gohan doesn't like fighting and the understanding here between them is a point for Gohan to heal from his mental problems in DBZA that doesn't really exist in this way in the series.
It's a good joke, but it doesn't fit his character, he might be a pacifist but he has always wanted to protect those he loves and doesn't find it to be a bother in the series at all. If he drops the resentment going forward, TFA did a great job with this episode to solve his character that is separate from the normal series and correct him into the person he becomes after this fight. If they keep these jokes about abandonment, I mean it really only existed during the original Piccolo training, afterwards it wasn't like this for him. In DBZA, he is really the only character they kept missing on, this is a genius way to fix that... I mean even Goku's personally is sort of spot on, despite the jokes, he is an optimistic, food and fight minded being. It's the same with the other main characters, even Trunks.
Finally!! Your reactions are the best!
7:38 is the face of finding a new life purpose.
You know... all the comments below...
And then you re-watch the 3-part series and realise she's pretty much [English-Canada] on the subs section. XD
The thing I like about Gohan in this is that his little edgy SSJ2 persona feels exactly like a kid who's reveling in power and trying to be the badass that a kid thinks of. The cold, unfeeling bastard that enjoys poking at the enemy in the same way that many typical edgy anti-heroes are portrayed in media.
I wouldn't say that Gohan was acting particularly out of character of edgy here. I think all of this was basically catharsis for him, allowing him to vent all the anger and frustration he has had pent up over the course of the series.
Hope Vegeta knows how to sew, cause it looks like he's got a hole in his Trunks!
For someone who claims to be a massive Gohan fangirl, you really miss the point with regards to his development.
What don’t I get? That it’s supposed to be the power going to his head? That it’s natural he would act like that? What has any of that got to do with me not enjoying seeing him like that?
@@MozillaVulpix What you don't get is that power turns Saiyans into vicious monsters until they learn how to control that power, as shown by Goku on Namek. As shown by the Great Ape transformation. As shown by Gohan's constant fits of rage through the series proper and its abridged accompaniment. For TeamFourStar to take that rage and turn it into blinding hatred of Cell, which causes one to want the person they hate to suffer, it's no different to how Gohan was in canon.
Rage, hatred and overwhelming power lead to overconfidence and absolute ruthlessness. That's in character. Moreover, it's human, not just a Saiyan trait.
On a side note, you're entitled to your dislike of it all you want, but that does not automatically make it out-of-character development.
You can be out-of-character for plot reasons that make sense. I’m not saying what TFS and Toriyama did was bad writing. Just that I don’t find an 11-year-old murdering because he’s lost himself to rage something cool and fun to watch.
@@MozillaVulpix That's fair enough. Like I said, you don't have to like it. I don't like the idea of children murdering things either. The thing is, Gohan in DBZA is psychologically damaged, even if it is played for laughs most of the time.
gabby you're one of my favorite reactors, so good.
I dont get the reference eighther but i think that dialogue is perfect for SSJ2 kid Gohan.
"Kill him now? Hmph, not yet Dad. He deserves to suffer much longer!!" Yeah this is no different from canon.
New sub gained. You're the fanziest DBZ fan who ever fan'd. I can dig it.
On some level this kind of bums me out, because teen Gohan is the real MVP, and adult Gohan is SUCH A LAME SCRUB. Every last drop of his potential has been squandered since he killed Cell. He's a total jobber in Super and his personality is so very vanilla.
Yeah, little backstory on me, never did like Goku too much, which is why I kinda liked tfs's take on him, pointing out some of the reasons while making it funny. But I literally cried in this episode. They redeemed Goku, like wtf, didn't think that was even possible, especially with what they did with him. But holy heck...
Also, liked what they did Gohan here, cause if you think about it, what the good guys wanted was to turn a kid into a killer... that's not gonna be pretty at the best of times.
gohan be like. im not going back.
few years later he abandons fighting back in favor of pacifism.
And then his surpressed trauma from the Ginyu Force comes back and, in order to cope with it, he dresses up and does awkward poses.
Pretty sure that was a reference from Justice League
Do part 3!!! I need emotional support over here!!
you know not going to lie, but she is a amazing youtuber to watch I love the opening part she did
