You end and start sentences with a small "yes" as and an Englishman this immediately reminds of me some wise old man. It's not a very common speech characteristic in England, especially among the lower and middle classes! I appreciate your intelligence; you have a talent for delivering a lot of information in a palatable manner. Thank you Shogo-san.
Tomoko-sama looked like the wind. With this long hakama her feet were covered so she looked like if she was flying over the stage instead of walking. The gentle way of moving with this long clothes made her look like if she was a story herself. Shogo-sama on the other hand was like a rock, unbending, strong and loud. The master of the sword, creating the story. Together you looked like Fuji-yama covered in white clouds. You two are really perfect together, creating the most beautiful images in this world.
A friend and I went to this exact Kenbu theatre the 1st time we ever visited Japan, in 2017. It was absolutely fantastic. Loved every minute of the experience.
I remember watching the Last Samurai and seeing Ujio doing a dance with a fan before the battle. I was disappointed that only a small glimpse of that was shown. I would have loved to have seen more. Thank you so much for making this video!!
Hi Shogo, Kazu and Harumi, what a gracious video! How wonderful the show is! It was a great joy for me to see this demonstration: I love swords and all the traditions that go with them. In France we do not have these beautiful shows. The whole Samurai tradition is very well shown in your video. Congratulations and thank you for your great work. All my friendship is with you, Um Abraço
Thank you! Enjoyed this video very much! Yes, I also noticed the difference in style between iaido and kenbu. It seems to me that iaido is much more practical, to be used in a real fight while kenbu is more dramatic.....
I love this videos because you all show us such interesting places and activities! I hope to go someday and experience even a small fraction of the cultural and historical richness of Japan. Greetings from Mexico!
When I saw the name of the video all I could think about is Shinomori Aoshi and his Kaiten Kenbu and the ougi Rokuren. I love the Oniwabanshu Okashira. He's my second favorite bad guy of the series.
It's weird to actually say it, but I was proud of myself for noticing when Tomoko was walking behind Shogo, he looked behind and moved his sword to make sure the sheaths wouldn't clash and remembering that's a rule in handling the katana. Proof I'm actually learning!
Is it just me, or does Shogo's kimono look a lot like Himura Kenshin's in Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X? Also, I kept thinking, "Oh man, Shogo has an advantage in a lot of these videos involving katana." His drawing and sheathing is smooth. If/when I ever make it to Kyoto, I've gotta try this!
Hi Shogo! I’ve been enjoying ur videos and wondering about the katanas that r used for kenbu or odori. R they the the same weight used for Iaido? If they r lighter, where can I inquire or purchase? Thank u!
Hi Shogo San! New to your Channel, been wondering is there proper way to wear Tessen /folding fan in casual wear or in armor? Maybe a potential topic/episode for you?(I.e. what is TESSENjutsu/history) Thank you.GANBATTE!
Is it possible to break down Zatoichi's Style of sword fighting? Based on your previous videos about swordsmanship it made me curious on how practical sword scenes are in samurai films and even in games.
Tomoko's battle cry is sure to strike fear into the heart of every enemy!
Guy did sword dance. His attack rose sharply.
Cool video. I always loved how sword dancing looks. Nice learning the history and why it's done
Shogo, your channel is a Japanese treasure. You will keep growing. Seeing how much your channel has grown since the beginning is amazing.

It's common in the US. And his is an American English accent.
@@carmenpeters728 I don't hear it when I visit, but I don't associate with anyone without a truck gun, which might create a class divide.
honestly this brightened my night to watch, thanks for videos like these

Kenbu looks like a lot of fun. Tomoko looked very beautiful in her silver/pink Hakama. She's so cute.

The editing in your videos have gotten a lot better and more witty, makes them really pop in a way I enjoy.
Gorgeous dancing and clothes! (I hate to call them costumes!! ) Stunning! Always such a pleasure to watch your videos!

Outstanding, thank you Shogo!
Shame this video only has 15k views. It was incredible!
This is amazing! If I go to Kyoto, this is a stop I want to make.
excited and can't wait, i am curious if there is something like the samurai experience for Kyūdō.
ps hello from michigan
Great question!
That was a great video. When I visit Japan, I'll be sure to search for a Kenbu Theater, or even go to this one in Kyoto. Thanks a lot, Shogo-san!
Shogo do the nukitsuke, chiburi, noto, kesagiri, suburi; is very IAIDO.
Tremendo ...!!!
Lovely ...!!!
You really should see a game called Bushido Blade. PS1.
I'm no expert, but I think it shows high respect for classical Japanese warrior culture.
So wholesome

Do they use the same kinds of iaito/mogito used for budo or is it a different kind of design or construction?
