Both suits of armor were beautiful! A very difficult choice: the fearsome mempo of Shogo's suit, or the iconic lacquered steel plate of Kazu's?

I've been wanting to gather a large collection of armor for giving free public lectures on the history, form and function of samurai armor across the centuries but this video made me rethink and tell myself, 'I can go bigger than that...' Now, I am going to try my damndest to gather a collection and open a business where people can learn all about these legendary warriors and have fun photoshoots like its the Gempei War or Sengoku Jidai depending on what era of armor strikes their fancy. (O-yoroi or haramaki all the way personally!) Thank you for expanding what my dream could be, Shogo!

As armor continued to evolved daggers became more of a highly prioritized weapon to bring in case your main weapon is either lost or damaged beyond use.
For example knights, as mail was the main armor before and swords were a primary weapon. But as armor evolved swords slowly became a secondary weapon to use as weapons such as bludgeons and axes became more common to help with armor destruction. I believe Samurai did the same as Katanas stayed by their hips and Naginatas, Yari, Tachi and bows were more of a primary weapon.

The Master not only has a Fully fledged katana, he has a wakizashi to go along with it.
    Basically a daisho
He wields the katana with much finesse, it's beautiful to look at if I do say so myself. Unfortuanetly I've never been able to train with katana but I look forward to.

I was in Kyoto two weeks ago. Flew in from Australia.Even stayed a few blocks from here. And only now do I discover it. Guess I've gotta go back one day to experience this place.

Just WOW! I can't believe you can actually do this and it's a lot cheaper than expected.
When I am in Kyoto (hopefully) next year this will be on othe top of my list.

I liked the video because I always wondered how they drew those gigantic swords from their sheaths. The idea of pulling the sheath back is something I never considered. Congrats on one million subscribers and I will be looking at your other videos to learn more.

Thank you for letting us join you on this experience Shogo!
This confirms that the earlier o-yoroi was indeed pretty heavy beause they were basically hanging on the shoulder. At least compared to the later tosei-gusoku that were tapered down the waist so it doesn't feel as heavy (i think it was already inspired by western armor design?).

This is such a cool experience, and have more respect for the samurai warriors. How they ran and fought in that heavy and restricting Armour is beyond me

    Отличный ролик.
И приятно, что автор из Японии, то есть из страны первоисточника, есть основания доверять.
