Excellent video & comparison. It's sweet that the M1A came out on top on the Steel, especially on the 750 Target doing it in 5 shots is Awesome. Thanks for running the Matthew's Fabrication Cheek Riser, 👍🏻👊🏻
@@Threat.level.midnite Heck Yeah. It's very accurate for a Carbine... My Mini-14 is horribly inaccurate & actually the rifle that sent me down this rabbit hole of Accuracy & my Cheek Risers 😁 Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Great video . The fiberglass stocks seem to work great on m14 style . I bedded my Bula in a fiberglass stock .it's about .750 to1 inch with IMI 175 grain. Have fun.
@@Threat.level.midnite Right on, I’m in Orange County myself. As for accuracy, I’m gonna have to get the numbers on that. Currently, I’m shooting the walnut stock and I just put the GEN 4 Springfield mount on. My first go around it seemed very inconsistent but since, put loctite on and hopefully that helps out. I’d really like to get this thing dialed in good and will keep you posted.
this might be a dumb question if you’ve already done it but did you use a mallet to form the mount to your receiver. I found you need to do the process a couple times to get it settled
@@Threat.level.midnite I did have it down, and hopefully enough. I was just looking at some videos online of the M25 sniper rifle, and it seems that your MOA isn’t that far off from that rifle.
Weird how you didn’t shoot good with the Sage EBR chassis. You need to tighten the screws in the front. I shot a 7 inch group at 1,000 yds with it. I think if I tuned it the way I have it now with the sage chassis it would be better for sure but even with all the screws torqued and the barrel whip screw engaged I could never do better than around 2.5 inches at 100. It made me sad that’s for sure
I got a bipod on my M1A rifle, even have a UA-cam short of it..... I just need a cheek riser. I did recently get a anti reflective hexcap and lense cover for the scope on it.
I like the Matthews fabrication cheek risers. They have enough adjustment to get your eye lined up with the glass. What did you use to attach your bipod. I ended up using a stud from MIM mfg. and made a video about it too

@@Threat.level.midnite Thanks. I would probably stay within 147 -168 gr range. How about handloads or some slightly hotter loads, get the adjustable gas plug then you think?
@@thesanfordmethod1905 nah you’ll be fine. I run a hotter 168 handload out of mine and it functions great. If you’re gonna try to run subsonics you’ll really need it to tune your gun and if you were going to try and run like 190+ loads I’d consider it
@@Threat.level.midnite Awesome ! Thanks again for your help. I just put on layaway an SA M1A Standard GI w the black synthetic stock yesterday, thanks to your videos as well as a few others. :D I'm psyched that I finally pulled the trigger on it. I got it on sale at or at least the best price I could find on smoky mountain guns and ammo for $1,389 with free ship and SA currently offers two free mags and a scope mount free w a rifle purchase before the end of the year. I'm gonna call SA soon, and I feel like I should mention to them your YT website here helped me influence buying one of their M1As; you and Nutnfancy's videos. I would do that if you're ok with it, who knows, maybe they'll sponsor you, or send out ammo, something. Again thanks for your help. One more quick question for you: in a nutshell what do you think of this Standard M1A and the Garand?. I had Garands before and it's an awesome beast, we all love them, so much soul. I will buy another one next year, but I just always had my eye on one of these traditional M1As too for so long (as well as the Scout), and I saw these deals so I figured the time was now. But how do you feel about 30-06 compared to the .308, assuming same weight projectile, can one keep the power the same, with handloads and any upgrades?, or will the Garand w the 30-06 always be the more powerful beast? I would like to get the same amount of "umph.." out of the M1A w .308 like the Garand in 3006. Thanks again , you've been really helpful! :D

Im impressed with the M1A but not at all surprised by your bolt gun. I knew it would shoot
Yeah I knew the bolt gun was no shock but it’s nice to get that M1A where I knew it could be
Great video! Just put glass on my m1a standard in a wood stock. I’m shooting about 4 Moa but I’m sure it can do better.
Yup that 4 moa is how I started too. Just needs a little tuning and it will tighten right up!

Hello, do you recommend an adjustable gas plug for the rifle?
If you are going to try and run very light or very heavy loads I would, but if not, the factory has plug works great
