There's two major problems with the Switch version of this game that keep me from recommending it: input delay & performance stuttering. My jumps felt delayed after pressing the button, and the game occasionally halts and snaps back to the action. I strongly argue that is unacceptable for a game like Contra, which demands quick reflexes and split-second decision-making. Steam version doesn't have these problems, thankfully.
I don't get the complaints either. It's developed by wayforward and they made Contra 4. It can't possibly be bad right? Hey at least it's traditional Contra and not that Rogue corps crap. Yeah the graphics ain't nothing special but it's Contra. They don't have to be unless they're trying to be modern but that never works out anyway.
Haha! Nah they're not that bad lol, I admit, they could've done better, but they're definitely better than the NES original lol. Beyond the graphics tho the demo was a lot of fun and honestly that's really what matters most 😏👍
Why are people like this? They don't like the art style, so they respond with crap like "they should have just released it on the Atari, this offends me personally." Just remember, Konami doesn't care. They practically gave up on video games in favor of pachinko machines, so it's a minor miracle that any of these games are coming out. They just want profit. Contra is an easy money maker for them, and they likely just opted for a cheaper engine, popular styles, and modern gimmicks. This could have turned out much worse.

Game is trash, it’s too similar to the iOS/mobile Contra Returns game in look and feel without micro transactions and daily login bonuses. I’d rather play the Contra Anniversary edition. Hell I’d rather play Shattered Solider than this crap. It relies more on nostalgia than new

the graphics are fine for what it is- the animation/turning/etc are jumpy and a little disjointed.
