Man U can tell how supremely talented johnny mac is, still holding his own in a pro match with some of the best these days, he's probably the most naturally gifted great American champions along with Agassi
Agassi was not naturally gifted. He was the product of Bolletieri Acadamy and hard work, in the gym and on the court. Arthur Ashe and Pete Sampras we're much more naturally gifted. But McEnroe was the best.
@@tommymas1Agassi didn’t practice hard at all as a junior and was always top 6 in the country. Lots of natural talent. I played in an age division lower than him and saw him play all the time.
@@tommymas1 you said he wasn’t naturally talented like Nick B created him. He had the talent….Nick B was just able to keep him focused. Who has talent like McEnroe? I think McEnroe may be the best all around make player ever.
@tdane5017 My opinion. I'm allowed it. He was an baseliner developed at an academy just like all the "ovas" are. He had more talent than his peers. But as talented as Edgerg, McEnroe, Federer, etc, no. He made the most out of his game. After Djokovic, the best around baseliner and returner of serve.
I knew the Bryan Bro's were good, but I never knew they were so entertaining ;) good to see them go all out for a good cause! :D WIth Mac it's a given of course ;)
mac had the most weapons power speed finese volleys .and the heart of a champion. there is no way he could have ended borgs run of five straight wimbledons without a lotta guts and conviction.
Cause he's Mcenroe. Probably the greatest doubles player ever, and when you only have to cover half the court the age isnt as much of a factor. Besides, he still has great hands, understands the game and a very good serve. He could probably still be a top doubles player if he had the right partner. However it is an exhibition so we don't really know how hard the Bryan brothers are playing.
It would be unfair to compare Isner with the Bryan brothers. In my opinion he has achieved more than the Bryan brothers. It is more difficult to win a singles grand slam. Ask Rios, Soderling, Tsonga, Berdych, etc
@@lankarocks ; It would be proper to ask John McEnroe since he has multiple GS titles in men's singles, men's doubles and one mixed doubles. He has more men's doubles GS titles than singles. Sincerely, :-)
More interesting that you might think. Isner is not a great volleyer, but he's a great server, and Mac is a master of net play. I don't think they would beat the Bryans, but they'd have some amazing points.
@Kevinxnam10 There is not really all that much kick on the serve, the insane height comes from where Isner is able to place it in the service box. He is able to do it because he is so damn tall. Watch the serve again and look where it lands in the box, I think its insane
@Chief Ryback ; Yes John McEnroe has an amazing, unique set of talents in the game of tennis. He [and his good friend Mary Carrillo] regard his tennis talent, especially at the net more like an artist. So, perhaps we could call him a "tennis artist" [He also has similar appreciation of art paintings (has a private gallery) and music (plays some and his second wife Patty Smyth)]. Most top players get their 'feel' and 'nature' on the court through extensive practice, then in situations manage to play the best or proper or unique shot in the appropriate situation. John, apparently [as described by Mary and himself[, has a 'natural sense' without the extensive practice, and actually does not play extensively like others nor extensive practice. Rather matches are the best for him. Also, in his younger years he did not have much physical and physio training either. He does more in his later years than he did then, but say compared with Bjorn Borg [then and now] his stamina is noticeably less. See some matches on the Senior's World Tour. Oh, John McEnroe was born February 1959, so in this match he was 50 [nearly 51 about two months later] (am also born in summer 1959) Sincerely, :-)
@gabe228 Bob Bryan was number one in the nation for college tennis and has one of the best serves in the ATP. If he had devoted himself to singles play he definitely couldv'e competed.
Some guys are able to pull off clowning and humor even in a high level tennis environment and its charming. The Bryans are not those guys. Just play tennis boys.
No, Mac didn't have more tools than Fed or Pete. While McEnroe's net game is among the best of all time, Pete and Roger's ground game several levels above his, and serving Roger is at least his equal, and pete his master. Both are much better movers than John. An "on" McEnroe could, and was, still was over powered or even out foxed by a couple guys in his day.
LOL .. what a joke. I doubt that he was the best in any of those categories. Maybe mover, but guys like Borg, Connors, Edberg, Chang, Mecir (even McEnroe) would be some strong competition. He is pretty good overall, though ;)
Why wouldn´t he? The legs go away, but the hands don´t. He is a natural volleyer, and today - with no such thing in sight far and wide - he stands out even more.
Love 2:10....Mac "cmon.."....Hey Isner...if you're going to poach, how about not dumping it half way up the net...otherwise let Mac hit it. Better yet, sit down and watch how a multi-slam #1 does it...
At 2:09, Mac sets up a pop up volley from the Bryans that Isner puts into the bottom of the net....Mac almost goes for a racquet toss! LOL. Isner has terrible hands.
Few people know that McEnroe was in fact the best doubles player ever in the Open era imo (not statistically). 9 grand slams and 77 titles (and being ranked the number 1 doubles player)... despite doing it part time. All the other guys on the list are doubles specialists. Tood Woodbridge was a dominant doubles player and a good singles player... but nowhere near the level of excellence at both compared to McEnroe.
Glad to see these kinds of exhibitions. It provides the audience with both entertainment and an appreciation for the skills of the players involved.
I am rediscovering McEnroe...now I remember why he was my hero as a child.
McEnroe still has those hands
even today!!
Always wil
McEnroe's 2 volleys in the point at 1:10 illustrate why he has the best hands in tennis. Amazing!
spot on
At 1:25 u mean...
dont know what youre talking about he looks like he only moves his, no body effort into any of his shots
great to see a good quality video, with some fun doubles and the bryan brothers.
The Bryan bros certainly know how to entertain a crowd!
I love this angle
McEnroe's volleys are a privilege to watch

John McEnroe is the greatest doubles player of all time. A Mac/Stich pairing beats the Brian Brothers 7 out of 10 times IMO.
Prime McEnroe and anyone beats them 7 out of 10 times
Impressionante John.
Che classe.
Incredibile alla sua età
once you prove greatness, it doesn't go away
McEnroe....twice the age...twice the swagger
No prob! Pretty entertaining doubles.
More Please Will
McEnroe is a fucking legend. Look at those hands and touch.
still got it after 30 years :{D
:55 was comical! Love Bryan brothers
mac had the most weapons power speed finese volleys .and the heart of a champion. there is no way he could have ended borgs run of five straight wimbledons without a lotta guts and conviction.
I love the fake out at 1:00 . This shows you classic doubles understanding between a team. Cover your partner :)
Dang McEnroe still has it!
Mac only uses continental grip?
+EXDRA100 Yep
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYAN TWINS !
Mac's service return goes unnoticed but it's nearly always to the feet.
@Kevinxnam10 Isn't that a flat serve?
Oh man, McEnroe is just class
mcenroe's serve and volley = A+
What happened at about 1:45?
did you watch davis cup match just a minute ago? i dont think you still say isner cant volley (serve and volley is one of his best)
isner mac is a great combo, as the serves are so very different
isner is a beast
McEnroe still one of the best net players alive today.
awesomeeeeeeeee

Johnny Mac can still volley with the best. We want more Johnny Mac!

@ 1:30 McEnroe looks like a hobbit compared to Isner, haha
awesome bryan bros!
wow McEnroe...He still plays so good...
@tiochaota Just ranked in the top 10 for ten years!
Loool the Bryan brothers rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!
@davd1986 except if you've ever seen him playing seriously, he's not...he's got great reach and touch. He can drop volley anything.
@dura1mater lol. you dont play much tennis, do you?
Never has a player used his left handed advantage better than McEnroe.
John Isner the best American player!!!!
Yep
mac is the best doubles player of all time, no doubt
didn't know that mcenroe still has it like this!
Things are so much funnier when you're twins! HAHA
damn that served kicked up.
hahahaha i love it!
when did this match occur?
@Kevinxnam10 There is not really all that much kick on the serve, the insane height comes from where Isner is able to place it in the service box. He is able to do it because he is so damn tall. Watch the serve again and look where it lands in the box, I think its insane

Yes

Johnny Mac looked like the most solid on court. Wow
good stuff. man maenroe can really play
doubles matches r more entertaining to watch then singles,Do u agree?
McEnroe still got it :D

@gabe228 Bob Bryan was number one in the nation for college tennis and has one of the best serves in the ATP. If he had devoted himself to singles play he definitely couldv'e competed.

0:55 hahah tricky :D
ty for uploading
not so sure about height
Well they are fooling around to an extent, but don't ever underestimate the J-Mac ATTACK.
this match was hilarious and awesome XD
Fake overhead was dope
the johns vs the bryans
Is everyone on this court a lefty?
go john
how old is john mcenroe? still plays like 35 yr old player
mac is legendary... no joke he looks like he belongs out there more than isner
@CommanderSwedePlays imagine if there was such a thing as triples, put the bryan's and mac on the same team lol

mcenroe still got his moves

What about the next generation (sounds like Star Trek), with Sampras and Agassi and the like (plus Nadal now)
@ilAnAsli nope
@CommanderSwedePlays I've seen him play seriously. If I didn't, I wouldn't have said anything.
McEnroe playing good for older man
mcenroe has amazing hands O_o
Both Johns. Both American. And they both could pass for each others dads because of height/age. XD
lol its funny to see McEnroe can still volley better than all of the other guys

damn McEnroe still has a fast serve.
mac is still better than many ATP doubles players
Johnmackenroeismyfsvoritetennisplayeralltime😎andjohnisnerismynumbertwo😎soletshearitforthe"bigbadjohns!"
mcEnroe still got it
rat the video?
imagine getting hit in the back of the head with one of those serves :(
It's a flat serve. Because he's so tall, he can aim his flat serves well inside the service box. Still good though.
@twanliel2 best doubles player vs. the best doubles team :P not a bad match up
@surfjabroni That's how we play in Volleyball..
Love 2:10....Mac "cmon.."....Hey Isner...if you're going to poach, how about not dumping it half way up the net...otherwise let Mac hit it. Better yet, sit down and watch how a multi-slam #1 does it...
