Striving for happiness won’t make you happy

  • Happiness is an emotion, and like all emotions it is fleeting. Striving to find happiness will set you up to fail because this striving simultaneously denies other emotions. It comes from a place where one emotion is a preference over others, and this is non-acceptance. All emotions are a natural part of the human experience. What you should be focusing on, are states of being, like joy, freedom, peace, and love. And unlike emotions, these are not fleeting. Gavin Lund

A few years back, i said 'i want to be happy' and i was told 'close your eyes, breath for a minute, this is happy!' I honestly feel that what we are after is connection. There is something so satisfying about being seen by another and to feel understood.
Freedom ... with that state comes huge responsibity.
Peace and joy, well i went to church believing i could ginf that there. What freedom when i found it within. Then came the responsibility....
Love, not a feeling. It's a verb. A doing word.

I think the love we often refer to is the feeling that is triggered in us with certain people or a person, but I think there is a higher state of love that doesn’t take away from this love experience, but one that is without condition or attachment. I’m not there yet though😂
