The all-new Range Rover Sport incorporates features that make the vehicle more environmentally friendly. The Intelligent Stop Start system reduces CO2 emissions and improves fuel efficiency by automatically stopping and starting the engine when the vehicle is stationary.

Starters, batteries and engine in the bin! Environmentally much worse than an engine idling at a couple of litres per hour.
A friend just scrapped their 3 year old Jan 2014 with stop start after 20,000 miles and were told it's not covered by warranty!
In that 3 years the battery and starter have also been replaced, now it's the engine, never again!

The start stop system could reduce the environmental impact of the vehicle, but Land Rover simply engineered it so poorly that it often does the opposite.

Stop start just causes more wear and tear on the components, battery, starter and emission control components that are only environmentally efficient when ref hot. As soon as the engine of off they are starting to cool and tale even longer to get back to a proper working temperature.
I don’t doubly LR poorly engineered the system to what would otherwise be a nicely designed vehicle.
My V8 Porsche Cayenne has clean emissions and for a full hour of idling uses barely over a litre of fuel.
A negligible cost monetarily and environmentally when compared to throwing components in the bin.
