i just plant contender and provider bush beans, the blue lake bush beans are ok too. i struggle with pole beans . i just keep planting bush beans.
i do think you're right the blue lake are the lighter color seed beans, and those are the ones that produce the best for me as a bush bean. the ones that are the brown color don't produce as well and im thinking that's contender, unless im mixing the two up. but i know i have two going right now, one is an off white to white color and the other is brown. the white beans work best for me.
the problem i have with green beans, is everyone keeps eating them before i get them inside the house, let alone in the freezer lol
I’m a part of the Green Stalk Sisters Club!! I invested in my first one last August and then got a second one in March. I’m a small space gardener in zone 10B and my green stalks are forest green. Thanks for all you do. I planted bush beans in my green stalk.

I only planted a few green beans in my garden. We had : meals with them. Next year I will plant lots! I planted blue lake green beans! Fabulous!

Yes, it's your garden, so do what you want. Yes, plant more green beans. I planted more about a month ago and plan to plant some more. This season I have only gotten one good pot of green beans and they were so good.

in between each window put a green stalk,mayb do one of each color in a row there??? I think it would b super cute!! and you just said you need the blueberry color(almost matches your house)...oh yeah it's your garden !!!!
and the bean subject I've done 4 paintings and getting ready to do another..I'm a Kentucky blue bean usually but I tried the jade this year nice plant seems sturdy.and this is my first year doing pole beans I love not having to bend down to much to pick product was good but heat has slowed them down but starting to get more flowers!! good luck on the beans!!

Have you heard of the variety of green beans called the Strike bean?
That is a very prolific one and you should look into it and maybe give it a try.

Hi Barb. I’m having good results with my green beans. I only have a few plants in raised bed. I’ve canned 3 pints & have eaten 3 or 4 meals. I planted blue lakes from dollar tree. ❤

I am in zone 7a Kentucky, and my green beans are not green beaning either. I have had about 10 beans out of about 20 plants. Makes no sense to me. I have Kentucky Wonder pole beans planted with my corn. I had some last year, but this year is a bust. The Japanese Beatles are doing the same thing here. You are not alone😊

I've been battling with my green beans too and I'm sick of it! I was about to give up but you've encouraged me to try another round. I'll drop my 3rd round of seeds this weeeknd, Jade and blue lake. If they don't take this time, I'm not the problem, the seeds are, lol.😂

I am also getting SUPER frustrated with my green beans. I even soaked the beans overnight this last time. I did get germination of 9 seeds… I literally planted like 3 packs! 🤯😵💫 SO OVER IT, BEGINNING TO HATE SUMMER GARDENING 👩🏽🌾🥲

i got the blue one. i was going to the basket weave, but, i thought it would get dirtier in the long run with all the little crevasses, and i do not like to have to clean more than i have to lol. but i did the spinner. this will be my second green stalk. i wanted to get the 7 tier, bc the cups are smaller, my first one has the combo inventers version. But i wanted the smaller cups for all my flowers i put outside the front of the house. The green stalk looks so nice when its full of flowers. This year i have it full of petunias that i color coordinated in the cup with white and the ones that are bi-colored white with a redish purple. I get compliments from people all time when they're walking down the street, or driving by and my neighbors. It really fills out so nice, but the smaller cups are really all that's needed for this, so i wanted another one with just the small cups. Next season ill have 2 of them. the blue one will be in the front of the house, and im not sure what ill put in my second. I have a strawberry bed, so i don't really want to put berries in it. I love using them for flowers though. They really do make a stunning statement. So maybe I will have one on the back deck with flowers next year too. well have to see. Or when my blue one comes in, maybe Ill have to put some fall color flowers in it, so it will be nice to have some fall stuff at least that will last into the beginning of fall anyways. We have a later frost start like around nov 15th i think. so that's actually a good amount of days.
You mentioned sweet potatoes... my question is do you trim back the vines at all?

I just replanted a ton of green beans too. My first batch burned up I guess. I'm praying for this second round, as I want baskets of green beans too

I feel the same way, Barbara. I want a bucket too! I bought some bean seed from a local feed and seed store and I am seeing better progress. An improvement from the bean seed I bought from seed companies.

All my beans stopped producing due to the heat but I’m glad you mentioned how they store, I had some go limp so quick I thought something was wrong with the plant. I have only about 20 bean plants and 6 diff varieties. I better get at least one basket full 😂😂😂😂😂 I know exactly how you feel. Now you got me wanting to plant more just in case I planted a bogus variety

I bought my 3rd greenstalk this year and used your code for all of them. I just got the blueberry one last week. I haven’t decided what I’m going to plant in it yet. I’m having the same problem with my pole beans. I haven’t produced a single bean and can’t figure out why lol.

My green beans are awful.Not one green bean yet.I grew Six different kinds, Nothing.I have smaller bushes,lots of flowers,no beans.I'm going out in morning and replanting tons of seeds.Im thinking it must be this extreme heat wave.110-119 last eight or nine days.The bees go home in heat of the day,I noticed.
Yes the extreme heat may be a factor.
My favorite is Dragon tongue beans! Delicious and have been very productive. Would get a green stalk if I could afford it.

Have you tried the filet bush green beans from Botanical Interests? They are thin, so they don't get as think as the blue lake green beans, and they're very productive. They taste great too! Just something you may want to think about for next year.
Yes, I bought them and that is the one I was referring to that I wanted to try. I am going to put some down.

Bush beans are like determinate tomatoes where you get a bucket or buckets of beans at 1 time. Pole beans are like indeterminate tomatoes that grow until the 1st frost or disease…so you get beans over a longer period of time.
Also people how get the bucket of beans usually drop a ton of bean seeds…they are like peppers and grow well close together 🤗

Hi friend!! You are so correct on green beans tasting better homegrown. I like the blue lake as well, does better than the contender. I won’t buy no more once I use up the rest of packet. I planted out some purple pole to see what I get😂 I lost my purple prince tomato plant due to the storm that came thru😩😂 I’ll retry next season on that tomato plant since it was a indeterminate. I was so surprise at my corn, it did better than expected, decided to do a second succession myself 😂 ❤it.

Adding this comment for the 2nd time. You can just cut the runners and toss them. It is recommended anyway to give more vigor to the plant. I transplanted my strawberries from a raised bed into a 50-cell seedling tray this spring. They are still there now. Yes I lost some, but I still have almost all of them.

Girl!! I love your videos so much. You always have me laughing. I just wanted to say that strawberries are perennial and you can just cut the runners. You don't have to do anything with them. I know you are over the strawberries, but I just wanted to say that.
I got beans from the purple bush bean.Now I know I tend to over water everything, so I was thinking it was ME! My green beans harvest SUCK! I'm trying another purple long bean and another purple bush bean.I shall see how this turns out.sigh!

@AGardenersJourneyHomestead I tried the Kentucky wonder.I put them in my greenstalk .They didn't do well at all.I PROBABLY over watered them.I didn't want the soil to dry out because it's takes a good flushing of water to run through the greenstalk. I had some running on my fence but can't remember the name. Maybe it was just too hot for them 🤔
