  • Here I go over my reasoning for buying the Metabo PE 15-20 RT rotary polisher . I compared this polisher with the Rupes LHR 19 E , FLEX PE - 14 also the Maxshine M1000. quality of German engineering and the fact that it won the 2019 Pro Tool Innovation Awards for corded power tools. It was the winner of all polishers in the world. if you're considering buying a rotary polisher please check out the stats that I talk about in this video and compare it to whatever rotary polishers you're thinking about buying and you just may decide that for $300 this tool will be what you're looking for .
    I will add that after spending the day working on 2 vehicles that had a combined 14 feet of scratches down the length of the bodies, this tool was a joy to use. I used the 7 inch wool cutting pad shown in this video, with Barney's Impressive Paint Leveling Compound. I also used a 3" Lake Country Orange Force pad. I probably used the tool for one hour total. Sooooo smooth, so quiet ( especially because I was working outside ) and such low vibration. My next video about scratch removal shows the work I did with this machine.

    Nice detailed review of the product. Note that the units of Vibration While Polishing, which you note is specified in units of "m slash s2", is a reference to meters per second squared. Physically, those units correspond to acceleration, i.e. the time rate of change of velocity.

    I opened my detail shop in 1982 and went through my share of rotary
    My current DeWalt 849x died, I ordered the MaxShine m1000 and get it on Tuesday.
    We'll see if it gives me good service.

      Cool,, Maxshine seems like a solid tool. Let me know how you like it after you have some hours with it. A Dewalt rotary was my first rotary back in the day, big heavy beast, super dependable. I sold it to a friend, but wish I had kept it.

      Sure will.
      I'm sure I had over 400 hours on my DeWalt, I was buffing an RV when it died, put new brushes in it and still nothing.
      Can't complain about it being someone gave it to me years ago, actually won it in a raffle.
      Only reason I'm gone with another rotary is because the DeWalt is heavy and bulky.
      The MaxShine looks smaller and lighter than the DeWalt.

      @@MrRedex88 1982 is the year I graduated high school and my dad handed me a dewalt rotary about 5 years before that. Told me to practice on my mom's single stage Datsun and when I could do it with no buffer trails behind I could start working on his business cars and then he would have all his salesmen and secretaries use my services and told me I was starting a detailed business when I was about 14.
      That rotary is really well respected by Maxshine. I think my old rotary weighed about nine and a half pounds and I built some muscle and ended up being an Olympic weightlifter because of that rotary 😁

      Yeah it was really great that the date was delivered , which was about three days after I ordered it off Walmart.com , that my neighbor just happens to come up with a huge 8 foot long scratch and then while I'm starting to work on it his mom comes up with a 6 foot scratch along the length of her car . Could not have been more perfect timing to work on some nice big flat panels with the 7 inch wall cutting pad and the new Metabo rotary polisher . I feel like it's a precision instrument that just feels ergonomically so nice and the hands very balanced only 5.3 pounds so it's not tiring and extremely low vibration . Thanks for checking it out what rotary polisher do you use?

    Hi JJ saw your link on the rotary revolution group. Pretty sure it's pronounced - Mer Tar Bo. This rotary is a weapon, it's so grunty and a far better design than their PE 12- 175. The Rupes LHR19 was a letdown to me when testing it.

    • @deluxevehicledetailingandp904

      Thanks for the heads up on the pronunciation . I was dating a German girl who was from Heilbronn Germany for six years and went there for a couple weeks over Christmas years ago . There is very little information or reviews about the Metabo and I have to admit I don't think I ever heard the name pronounced because there's so few videos and the ones that are out must be in German so there's no voiceover audio or anything. I bought this machine particularly because I've had quite a few boat inquiries lately and it's something that I want to start attacking as I'm so close to the Gulf of Mexico . I have done a few boats with the POS Harbor freight rotary which is such a different tool because it is completely terrible. Thanks for checking out my channel I have a three-part video which probably won't get out of editing until Sunday or Monday where I get a chance to use the Metabo for couple hours and give some thoughts on it

    Is it powerful enough to work on oxidated gel coat?

    • @deluxevehicledetailingandp904
      @deluxevehicledetailingandp904  2 роки тому

      I just compounded / polished a black boat with SEVERE oxidation and scratches. Cut right through it like a champ. When comparing different models look at the TORQUE specs. This tool is very high in those numbers. This will help you determine how powerful a rotary is. I love this tool, use it every week for a couple years and has performed flawlessly. If you buy one, reply back and let me know how you like it.

      Thanks for your prompt reply. I will buy it after your comments. I work with Makita, excellent polisher for gelcoat, but looking for something lighter. Bought a rupes rotary, but stalls when putting pressure on it to remove oxidation.

    maybe 300 nio load or 300 with just the trigger on speed 1

    • @deluxevehicledetailingandp904
      @deluxevehicledetailingandp904  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah I'm not really sure it's expressed there on the machine but then it says speed one is 600 RPMs . I'm not really sure the RPMs are not supposed to be affected by load whatsoever or maybe just slightly . Anyway I got a chance to use it on 14 feet of scratches of which I will have a three-part upcoming video and I gotta say it was a very pleasurable experience using this machine with both the big 7 inch wool cutting pad and also a 3 inch foam pad
