I love this. I'm a sub for several different resin artists, and I am fairly certain that a good deal of your success can be attributed to your skill with casting resin, period. You've got a true talent for it. You've also got a keen (and sometimes wonderfully silly) artistic eye.
If that resin you’re using is exothermic in any way, I would think the heat from that might have been hot enough to kill any bacteria or living organisms that were trapped inside your water doorknobs. Doesn’t matter, though those were very impressive.
The strawberry one is fascinating because it's got that brownish, yellow cast to it like old paintings. The faded red makes sense too because red dyes/pigments are often the first ones to fade. You've got yourself a little Renaissance strawberry!
Ben, this update episode was great! When I see pet memorials, I sometimes tear up. What I saw Angel looking so good after 100 days, man...had to grab a few tissues. My dog will get extra hugs tonight.
you are so right... in the first video i cried very much... and now angel looks veey good still... damn that is so cute i cried again... and my dog gets extra cuddly hugs too!
You can definitely tell Angel has degraded, especially noticeable is his now-collapsed eye, but he still looks pretty good! I really liked the doorknob project and thankfully the sand and shells haven't scratched up the inside of the bubble. If you sterilized it you could make a snowglobe from specific beaches as a souvenir! I did bring some sand back from the last beach I was at so I might have to give it a try myself.
I think it's absolutely beautiful that someone can care so deeply about an animal such as Angel. They may not even have the slightest conception of what love is physically, but I would imagine that spiritually Angel feels the amount of care you had for them while they were alive
You would be amazed how personable fish are! Betta especially all have very unique personalities, and can express a lot through movement. Fish have feelings just as much as any dog or cat does….
@@AfromanRants we had an awesome beta that I named Hans, short for handsome. He was very interactive, we would talk to him all the time and he would swim up to see us. I miss that fish!
I forgot about the crisp, looks great, your Dad could still auction it on eBay. Glad Angel is doing well, a little stunner. Thank you for update cool, Star Trek is amazing 🖖
Thanks for the update Ben! Love that they've all held up so well including Angel. Can't believe how long ago the enterprise in a bottle was!! The effect is still so cool!
Idk why everytime I see the fish casting, it brings a tear to my eyes. Such a sweet thing to do for a pet you loved. Imagine even other animals casted like that like an Eel or a shark for instance. Maybe even a cute turtle that sadly passed recently. Idk some ideas.
This is great and I’m glad to say I’ve gotten to see most of these from where they started to where they are now. Stunning progression and improvements along the way. Super happy to see angel again and holding up so well too! I just briefly wanted to echo the sentiments of the other comments and say it’s beautiful to see you honour the life of your fish
Oh man, I've been waiting for one of these! edit: Just as I predicted with Angel! That's not an explosion, that's "actually" what it looks like when it's coming out of warp!!!
Thanks for the update! I've been very curious about these, particularly the natural items. It's very cool to see that everything has held up quite well!
I've been waiting for this awesome updates. Thank you. I'm excited to see the doorknob in the sun. I now hypothesis the resin will discolor due to the sunlight. But the algae is likely long dead but let's see after a few months. This excites me the most.
This was awesome! If you ever do another egg one, it'd be cool to do it with a hard boiled egg, peeled and cut in half longways and then preserved in resin 😄
Stumbled on your channel and I love it! Your presentation, creativity and talent are delightful! I’ve already checked out your eggs on Etsy and they are beautiful… I am definitely going to follow you on UA-cam AND Etsy!
I'm just imagining the archeologists in the year 3050 discovering these perfectly preserved... "fruits? and plastic figures? and a fish? and some of this stuff is just unrecognizable. What were the people of this time doing?" 😂 Our world as it exists today really is a "you had to be there" moment, isn't it? Makes you wonder how much we've misinterpreted from our modern archaeological discoveries. Keep preserving stuff, Ben. You make people curious even many generations later, like the way I ponder the implications of an insect trapped in amber which has been set into jewelry.
I have been thinking about this for a long time, the Angel Fish. I got a JOLT of EXCITEMENT when I saw this title for a follow-up!!!! 🙂🙂❤️❤️ VERY interesting talent!!
Hi Ben, Really appreciate that you keep updating us. As a person that haven't done any of this resin, now I become interested. Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Keep up the good work 🙂🙂
Angel reminds me of the rather gaudy paper weight my great grandmother had. It had a scorpion inside with a bunch of random pearls. Fascinated the hell out of me as a kid though!
Hey Ben. So cool to see these projects revisited. The Enterprise ship in a bottle was the first project video I watched & what got me to sub to your channel. Any sci-fi geek is a good person in my book. ❤ I've been watching ever since. Also, you casted Angel on my b'day. Looks like he's holding up better than I am. Hmm...maybe I should get you to cast me in resin LOL. Keep up the awesome projects & "risky" experiments. Can't wait to see if the water knob left in daylight will grow algae or not. 💕💕💕
I think the first one of these I was actually subscribed for was the the chip. Maybe the grape and strawberry. I know I went back and watched alot of old stuff. Will need to go watch the Star Trek bottle.
Strangely I never thought of keeping any off my passed on fish , I love angel fish I currently have five that we raised from eggs their mum and dad have passed on but they were amazing fish dad was a black veil tail and mum was a pilippine blue.all the one I still have threw to the blue side.
I would definitely buy the Star Trek fighter in the bottle. A auction would be a awesome idea. It would make a great statement piece or a good conversation starter! Edit: thank you for the updates. Been watching for a few years now.
for those knobs, i'm pretty sure any microorganisms that made it in their are no longer with us. From the UV, to the pressure shocks, to the heat shock, to the shear force of being spun with grains of silica; they were having a very bad day that day. I wish them all the best though that 1% can be resilient
I love that the heart chip was cast on my 21st bday!:D I need to watch the original video, can't believe there's a video that somehow slipped off my radar!
6:02 Careful when leaving see through spherical glass near windows, it's one of the least expected ways to cause a fire, though I'm sure it's small enough to not do anything I still figured I'd put this psa here for other people too. Just a thought that the video reminded me of just now haha
Angel still looks great I would love to see a update on the marshmallows in the resin and the large jawbreaker that was one of my favorites how the resin affected it and it melted inside the resin it was so cool
Damn they looked soo good I was worried there for some of them like Angel. But they all still look great! Thanks for the good vibes trip down memory lane Ben. Home you have a good weekend.
This is a collection of some of your most epic castings. I remember when you did the star trek ship in a bottle... god have i been following you that long? lol Personally I voted for Angel because I saw how delicately you handled it and gave it a good send off. Mighbt sound silly but it brought a tear to my eye. Glad to know he's holding up in his forever home :)
Nice to see the updates. I've seen others show past works that have since yellowed. I'm surprised there wasn't as much yellowing in yours. Would love to see another update on the same projects in a couple years.
So i can say a have a epoxy cast with a fish and some shells inside. It is nearly 30 Years Old an the Fish looks like the first day. I love that thing ❤️
So glad to see Angel is still holding up okay... I wish I had known about resin when I lost Herman and Fishy - my goldfish. They weren't at the same time but if I had known about resin I still could have kept them both. Problem is I would have needed a lot of resin... Herman was 8 inches long and Fishy was 7 inches long. Not sure how wide but that would have been quite a bit as well. I miss those guys. - Heidi
These castings still look great! My guess why is probably because the heat of the resin setting probably kills any bacteria inside the casting. Great work as always!
Glad to see the Enterprise one again. I'm currently planning out a present for my brother, using a sheet metal model of the Enterprise D, his favourite ship, and enclosing it in resin, which was inspired by your video making it. I doubt it will turn out as well as your Enterprise in a bottle, but hopefully it will turn out okay.
Thanks for stopping by, If you have time you can check out my new range of Eggs here www.etsy.com/shop/bensworx
Ben, how about creating an Ecosphere in resin?
is it possible to send you stuff to put in resin?

The funny part is I feel like the eye actually looks more alive now. Their eyes go cloudy after they've been dead a bit.
@@user-bt2lx4gy7h he looks mad now
It's amazing how well these have all held up. Crazy to think the star trek one was in 2019 seems like it was so much more resent.
Thanks Mark, Yeah time flies

Thanks Sas, yeah time flies 😊
Happy to see more than one of the projects. That egg lol
I felt so bad when you opened it up that time. It had to be really bad. 💖💖💖
Thanks Connie 😊 yeah it wasn't great 😂
Everything held up so much better than I expected! Great to see the effects over time!

Angels video was one of the first I watched, what a touching tribute to a good pet
They all look really great! The leaves on the strawberry and the potato chip look really cool! I was very glad that your Angel still looks perfect.
Thanks Lisa
The pieces used to preserve are great. It encapsulates every detail of work and the masterpieces.

Oh wow, maybe Angel got cooked by the curing resin, killing the microorganisms that would otherwise have started destroying him by now? 😍😍😍
it's possible
Maybe you put him down and pasted him right away sealing him and not much time was there for weird stuff to happen
Anyone tried silica?
