The wings cannot lose color, because they don´t contain any color. Butterfly wings have their color through the effect of iridescence, which is created by the physical surface structure and the way it excludes wavelengths of light in the reflection, which appears as different colors in our eyes. The same reason for soap bubbles and compact discs to appear colorful. There is no chemical pigments involved that could fade.
My guess is, if you keep them out of sunlight, probably not unless the initial heat breaks down the structure of the scales. Now I'm going to watch!
I was wondering whether you might add that surprise, since I knew it would look great with the piece! I'm a sub of Positive Couple (Позитивная парочка). They have done MANY resin tables. From what I can tell, any mistakes you made were so minor as to be insignificant. It looks gorgeous.
Hello Ben I am a porson that won a give away from you and I really need my money back u blocked me on teligram
This video couldn't have been released at a better time. My mother passed away recently, and her funeral was today. We did a live butterfly release in her honor, because they were one of her favorite things. We released 50 Monarchs and 50 Pipevine Swallowtails because they are native to this area. This was a great video and a beautiful piece of art, keep up the amazing work. 👍🏻
@Shawn, my sincere condolences. ❤️
What a wonderful way to honor her by releasing those butterflies. It must have been a beautiful sight to see 100 butterflies fly away.
I’m sorry for your loss Shawn, Take Care mate
My condolences Shawn. We lost my brother in law back in July… his birthday was today
I'm sorry for your loss.
My grandma would have loved seeing all those butterflies as they were also one of her favorite things, and Monarchs were her favorites. We lost her this time last year.
I'm glad you were able to honor your mother's memory in such a beautiful way
@@ilonamollema6467 thank you it really was an amazing sight to see.
As an American it was a delight to watch this Australian man drive.
Australian dashcam compilations are the best dashcam videos out there. The cursing is fantastic 😂.
@@80PercentScottish Funny enough I was thinking the same: "I hope Ben won't show up at DCOA"
@@Craftlngo it's Russian dashcams for the crashes, Aussie dashcams for the cursing, closely followed by British as while the cursing is less severe, you do get some really funny words. I enjoy US dashcams too but it doesn't quite hit the same spot as the others.
Look at those fancy offset screw holes on the mold!😂😂😂 perfection.
Oh wow, it's an interesting way to preserve butterflies
Well you knocked it out of the park again Ben. I love it. I’m going to see about some butterflies
Ben, I've been watching for a couple years now.. I want to thank you for inspiring me.
What a beautiful table. Fantastic job, Ben.
Thankyou
Man those jacaranda trees really stand out on your drive 🥰
Ben, its makes me feel good that someone with your experience still can make mistakes and thanks for showing your mistakes
I'm an American I've been watching you for a long time been. As your first epoxy build, this is absolutely gorgeous big coat brother!!🤘🤟🤘🤟
What an awesome idea! I’ve never been this fast to a video (it was only put up 3 minutes ago). The table looks really nice, I wonder if one could be done with some butterflies on angles that make them look like they’re soaring in 3D and going at different heights.
Thankyou
Yes ! That would be nice , Madeleine.
If you do something like this in the future you should put the background first then a layer of clear to stick the butterflies on then another clear. That way you get the separation from the background and if you light it right they can cast shadows so it looks like they're suspended in flight!
You added a dog! The best surprise!
Hi Ben. I’m an ex pat ausie living in Norway and I love your work, your videos but most of all I really enjoy your enthusiasm and passion for making beautiful and interesting things. Please keep it going.
12:45 so THAT'S Hare & Forbes! Holy moley, it's a machine shop playground!!!!! 😍😍
Very very cool. I really liked it when you put the clear resin on the table and the butterflies just popped.💜
Awesome job, Ben!!! For a first table, you made a wonder!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
Downright Beautiful!!!! That trip to Harrison Fords was awesome!
The table turned out awesomely enjoined the view as usual
Wow! Ben, you have got to do more projects like this! This is beautiful! I love butterflies! Love how you added the light! Awesome!
The amount of forethought that goes into your art
is tremendous. Thanks for letting us look over your
shoulder while you create.
Beautiful table Ben. Love the accent lights. By adding the lights, makes the butterflies stand out alot. Nicely done.
Now it just needs a matching set of coasters.
Please do more of these absolutely stunning!!!
The table came out beautiful
That butterfly table is beautiful very beautiful thanks for showing us

When you put that top layer of epoxy on it I couldn’t help but think it was a perfect glossy taco 😂 Fellow Holo Taco lovers will appreciate it too!
dang Ben that Lamp Idea is Brilijant.
I like your prism cube ball and your butterfly table they are beautiful
My favorite thus far.
That is some awesome workmanship.
It looks wonderful!
Great table Ben! I've made window shelves for my wife's plants with that plumbing tubing too, by having the pipes screwed into the top of the window frame and the base of the shelf. I used threaded inserts because I didn't trust the screws to hold by themselves...and yes, I very much enjoyed the road trip. Thanks!
The table looks amazing, your dog makes a wonderful model, and as a Brisbanite I really enjoyed the trip to Hare and Forbes.
Hey Ben
Great outcome with your table.
Was nice to see your sponsors home-base.
Take care 🙂
Didn't know you were going to the big kids toy store that place looks amazing. Great job on the table
Wonderful work of art
Amazing Ben…. It turned out so beautiful, the lights really make it pop. Thx for sharing. Enjoying your projects from Texas!!!!👏👏👏🤟🤟🤟
Absolutely beautiful, Ben. When you first said you were going to make a table from that piece of wood, I imagined you would leave it intact and (CNC) rout (or carve) pockets for each butterfly and inlay them into those. This was much more interesting and better.
Bill
Amazing! The butterflies are so pretty and I love the blue UV resin. The whole thing was very cool
The drum sander was like a giant pasta machine 😂
Very beautiful and amazing. I can’t wait to see more tables project
What a beauty at the end of the video....oh, and the table looked good, too.

That is an impressive piece, sir. The much better half was also very impressed after I made her watch the beauty shots at the end. Nice video to come home to after a good day at work.
What a lovely little project 😍
Love how this turned out!
That last layer at 14:58 is sooo satisfying to watch. Interesting to see how you solve issues like the stuck-on wood block. Stunning result!!
What a beautiful table.
I LOVE this Table, i think you did ab absolutley gorgeous job!
I love live edge river pours. You should've inset twig branches and set the butterflies on them. But as a first table. Excellent job
Beautiful Ben. Love the surprise.
Such a gorgeous table!
Cool table and yes it was nice to ride thru a little bit of Australia. Always wanted to go there.

We finally get to see the magic Hare & Forbes place
Love it Ben! The blue uv resin looked like rivers in a desert
Very nicely done. I love the addition of lights.
I’d like to see a butterfly in a half dome clear mould. It should magnify the buttery to show more detail.
Thankyou
I enjoyed every minute of this video.
It may have only been your first table but it turned out absolutely stunning. Can't wait to see more and well done. I have recommended your channel too many of my friends.
Driving on the wrong side of the road was scary, well for me! Great project! Be safe, be cool! Beach, NC

Beautiful! 🦋 I love the light
It looks beautiful! You did an amazing job!
I am obsessed with butterflies. This is beautiful! I wonder tho,, if instead of white. Maybe a light pearl blue or green, to mimic the sky or grass, oo maybe pearl green a few small flowers then clear (for depth) then the flutterbies 💖💖💖
Nice way to branch out into a new direction, your lamp you recently made would be awesome on there
Gorgeous piece, Ben! Fantastic job
WoW Ben! Absolutely beautiful!! ❤
Well done Ben
Thankyou
Awesome table Ben especially for your first one. I personally don't like the legs but that's me. I'm glad you chose the white it makes the butterfly s pop.
very nice project. I love the pipe legs
That looks awesome❤❤
Thankyou
This table is gorgeous. The butterflies, the bits of blue, the pipe legs, the light - it all came together so beautifully! But omg that teeny tiny brush you sealed the edges with 😂😂😂 work smarter not harder!
This is stunning. Fantastic job
You did a really good job with this table. The butterflies are really great in resin. Enjoy your table!
