The wings cannot lose color, because they don´t contain any color. Butterfly wings have their color through the effect of iridescence, which is created by the physical surface structure and the way it excludes wavelengths of light in the reflection, which appears as different colors in our eyes. The same reason for soap bubbles and compact discs to appear colorful. There is no chemical pigments involved that could fade.
I was wondering whether you might add that surprise, since I knew it would look great with the piece! I'm a sub of Positive Couple (Позитивная парочка). They have done MANY resin tables. From what I can tell, any mistakes you made were so minor as to be insignificant. It looks gorgeous.
This video couldn't have been released at a better time. My mother passed away recently, and her funeral was today. We did a live butterfly release in her honor, because they were one of her favorite things. We released 50 Monarchs and 50 Pipevine Swallowtails because they are native to this area. This was a great video and a beautiful piece of art, keep up the amazing work. 👍🏻
@Shawn, my sincere condolences. ❤️ What a wonderful way to honor her by releasing those butterflies. It must have been a beautiful sight to see 100 butterflies fly away.
I'm sorry for your loss. My grandma would have loved seeing all those butterflies as they were also one of her favorite things, and Monarchs were her favorites. We lost her this time last year. I'm glad you were able to honor your mother's memory in such a beautiful way

1-Brilliant promo for the machinery shop! 2-Boy, it is alarming to see you drive on the other side of the street! 😆 3-Loved seeing you apply your "trademark" blue to the cracks 4- Gorgeous project and another great video! I so much want to do woodworking!
This table is gorgeous. The butterflies, the bits of blue, the pipe legs, the light - it all came together so beautifully! But omg that teeny tiny brush you sealed the edges with 😂😂😂 work smarter not harder!
Great table Ben! I've made window shelves for my wife's plants with that plumbing tubing too, by having the pipes screwed into the top of the window frame and the base of the shelf. I used threaded inserts because I didn't trust the screws to hold by themselves...and yes, I very much enjoyed the road trip. Thanks!
If you do something like this in the future you should put the background first then a layer of clear to stick the butterflies on then another clear. That way you get the separation from the background and if you light it right they can cast shadows so it looks like they're suspended in flight!
What an awesome idea! I’ve never been this fast to a video (it was only put up 3 minutes ago). The table looks really nice, I wonder if one could be done with some butterflies on angles that make them look like they’re soaring in 3D and going at different heights.
I really enjoyed this. Beautiful piece of furniture, a neat glimpse into Australian motorways, and that big reveal at the finish! My jaw literally dropped. Stunning. I would love to see more larger scale builds like this one. Thanks Ben!
It's amazing how clean that came out from mold just a little bit of clean up and I absolutely love butterflies I've always wanted to study butterflies as a career thank you for posting can't wait to see the next butterfly project. And take care to all that love this video as much as I do and how much their loved ones would have loved it
Very nicely done. I love the addition of lights. I’d like to see a butterfly in a half dome clear mould. It should magnify the buttery to show more detail.
Oh Ben! This turned out so nice! The colors of the butterflies and the little bit of blue in the wood looks great. To bad there couldn’t have been some blue in the other piece of wood too, but no worries. Yes…The drive through town was fun. Glad you were able to get help sanding it. Got to see your world. The dog at the end was so cute. Hope you enjoy your table. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely beautiful, Ben. When you first said you were going to make a table from that piece of wood, I imagined you would leave it intact and (CNC) rout (or carve) pockets for each butterfly and inlay them into those. This was much more interesting and better. Bill
Awesome table Ben especially for your first one. I personally don't like the legs but that's me. I'm glad you chose the white it makes the butterfly s pop.
Absolutely gorgeous, Ben. The idea of butterflies in resin is interesting and maybe unique. I loved the way this table turned out. And having your dog there to show the table off is very cute.
Ben, you are an expert at crafts. And now furniture too! Of course you added the lights. That was the best idea. ☺️ I really enjoyed the field trip to Hare & Forbes. I like seeing what your town looks like and they seem like great people there. I certainly hope that this is not the last piece of furniture you make. Your kids need some for their homes as well! 😆 They can thank me later.
Hi Ben. I’m an ex pat ausie living in Norway and I love your work, your videos but most of all I really enjoy your enthusiasm and passion for making beautiful and interesting things. Please keep it going.
I am obsessed with butterflies. This is beautiful! I wonder tho,, if instead of white. Maybe a light pearl blue or green, to mimic the sky or grass, oo maybe pearl green a few small flowers then clear (for depth) then the flutterbies 💖💖💖
That is an impressive piece, sir. The much better half was also very impressed after I made her watch the beauty shots at the end. Nice video to come home to after a good day at work.
That turned out Amazing. I thought for sure the heat from the epoxy would change the color of the butterfly wings. I totally loved the legs as well. It lo9ks like something Pier 1 Imports or Hobby Lobby would sell. Well done my friend.
Thanks for stopping by, If you have time you can check out my new range of Eggs here www.etsy.com/shop/bensworx

My guess is, if you keep them out of sunlight, probably not unless the initial heat breaks down the structure of the scales. Now I'm going to watch!

Wow it looks great
Thanks Stacey 😊
As an American it was a delight to watch this Australian man drive.
Australian dashcam compilations are the best dashcam videos out there. The cursing is fantastic 😂.

All I can say is gorgeous. The composition, the design, the butterflies’ color, size and the resin’s shine makes it a unique gorgeous table.
Well you knocked it out of the park again Ben. I love it. I’m going to see about some butterflies
Easily the best resin projects on UA-cam.
Oh Ben I love it
table looks great, nice job
Oh wow, it's an interesting way to preserve butterflies
Wonderful work of art
Wow! Ben, you have got to do more projects like this! This is beautiful! I love butterflies! Love how you added the light! Awesome!

i absolutely love the design of the table!!! the butterflies in between the 2 pieces of wood is so pretty!!
The table came out amazing. Love the butterflies and the little touch of blue is great.

Ben, I've been watching for a couple years now.. I want to thank you for inspiring me.
That butterfly table is beautiful very beautiful thanks for showing us
That last layer at 14:58 is sooo satisfying to watch. Interesting to see how you solve issues like the stuck-on wood block. Stunning result!!
I'm an American I've been watching you for a long time been. As your first epoxy build, this is absolutely gorgeous big coat brother!!🤘🤟🤘🤟

When you put that top layer of epoxy on it I couldn’t help but think it was a perfect glossy taco 😂 Fellow Holo Taco lovers will appreciate it too!
Downright Beautiful!!!! That trip to Harrison Fords was awesome!
This has to be one of my favorite pieces you have made! I love the wood and nature paired with the industrial element, such a lovely dichotomy!

Hi Ben what a fantastic butterfly table it's a masterpiece well done. Thanks for a great video can't wait for the next one.
Very nice first attempt Ben. Really nice job. Love the butterflies.
This was super neat! I think a River bed with smooth rocks instead of butterflies would be really cool with this same style!

I love live edge river pours. You should've inset twig branches and set the butterflies on them. But as a first table. Excellent job
Love the colors of the butterflies turned out great 👍💕
