Great video, Rich. I bought a new Tenpoint Siege 425 this year and ordered some Reapers from A.J. Mine weigh 488 grains with 150 grain points, and come off my crossbow at a chronographed 391 fps, which makes me very happy indeed!
I also number my arrows and group them together for which arrows shoot closest to each other. Even with spine matching (Yes I also shoot custom made arrows) you can still have an arrow or 2 out of 6 that flies a little off from the rest.
No doubt...inserts, vanes, etc all play a role. But so far no consistent flyers in this batch have been identified. The first one I shot at 20 was high but has flown great since then lol.
@@Deathbybunjie Thats great news as having that 1 or 2 flyer arrow is not only annoying but costly with premium grade custom arrows. I love shooting long range for fun on a calm day. I keep my hunting shots to 55 yards (calm animal) but shooting out past100 yards is just plain fun with my Scorpyd Orion and Mission 360
I’ve been researching this same topic and have found a few articles and videos here and there on the same subject. I’ve been needing to buy some bolts and wondered if anyone did spine matching like this. Now I know. Thanks for the info
I think I am sold on the Burris. I hunt field edges and have a slight issue on judging distance in the fields from ground level. I believe that will give me an advantage this season and added confidence.
AJ makes the absolute best arrows on the planet. He made me a set of Reapers last year and was very impressed with how well they shoot. Folks, AJ is also a Swat broadhead dealer. When I say Swat is the best head available, I mean it 💯. Swat broadheads fly just like a field point, and leave an absolutely huge hole. Dead deer in under 40 yards guarantee
I’d be curious to see between the new arrows with the wrap and your old ones for the pivot point is. I sure like the idea of the spine being consistently the same with the new arrows. Excellent!
Great video Rich! Those arrow shafts look very similar to PHOENIX SIRRIUS bolts. And I love the way that KI SWAT locks the arrow in place! I don’t think achieving ant better accuracy is possible. Good luck this season!
I’m really enjoying this post! I’m sure the info is helpful and useful for some people! However, my Excalibur GRZ2 Crossbow says it’s a 200 pound draw weight and the velocity is 306 FPS . So far everything I’ve shot with it died very shortly thereafter. If it ain’t broken don’t fix it ! 🏹🦌🏹🐗🏹🦌🏹🐗
How’s it going rich… love the bolt case one of my favorite purchases makes sure my arrows stay straight and the fletchings are not getting bent around.. love watching your channel. Literally watch every video.
I build my own arrows I use aluminum Easton xx75 2219 shafts and use my Tenpoint alpha blaze knocks with a carbon fiber insert, my total bolt weight is 457 with no broadhead, total weight is 557 with broadhead
If you are shooting from a BOG style tripod then your shots and those arrows are perfect If you go to a bipod with a squeeze bag in the back your groups will shrink way down
Dusted my crossbow off last weekend glad i did was 24 clicks high at 20 yards. You have seriously made me consider a range finding scope not sure what to choose and that would be an expensive purchase for me but take ethical shots is where i want to and should be at all times.
You would still have to sight in the rangefinding scope and make sure it's still on, of course, but what it really does nicely is give you confidence on every shot you take. No more guessing at the yard at the time of the shot and no more worrying about what 15 yd is or 25 yards is that sort of thing. I really really like it.
@Deathbybunjie I sight every season and check before each hunt with my bow but that exact yardage is a sense of peace that one doesn't have when splitting hairs between 25 yards and 20 yards. I love my current scope but second guessing myself is rough when I could be squeezing the trigger with a well placed ethical shot. Your videos are always on the top of my list to learn from and enjoy. Thank you for everything you show us as hunters.
I am ashamed to say I don't even know I haven't been there to check them out, but that is the plan tomorrow. This weekend I'll post some pics on Facebook and shoot a video about it most likely. I only have small Clover plots going right now so I can probably rehabilitate them if need be I'm hoping. Good luck to both of us!
AJ is the best, if it wasn't for user error i would of filled both tags last year. Ohh well, happens to all of us right? PS: Giving the deer a heart attack is not effective
It about that time of year again....the game is on in about two and a half months...can you tell us more about that target - the one I have just does not do what it is supposed to do! Keep on making crossbows fun!
Nice new arrows!! Does shooting downhill matter when sighting in? I understand it could be helpful if you only hunt from up in a tree stand, just curious. Dave told me Burt coyote lumenocks will not work in my tenpoint carbon bolts. Oh well
I just ordered a tenpoint titan 400. It comes with pro elite 400 carbon arrows. The arrow comes in at 410 grain, with a 100 grain tip. I plan on using a 100 grain mechanical broadhead- will this do what I need it to do? Or should I put more stock into my arrows? I am new to all of this , so any advice is appreciated.
the best arrows are the ones that hit the target, i saw a video of a xbox shooting an arrow in slow motion adn there one could see the it wobbling/snaking as it was shot serch for this and you will clearly it wobble not a carbom arrow but "Shooting a 276 lb simple wooden crossbow", i am not an ballistic guy but i would think there is a magic number on where the balance need to be to get an arrow wobble less the more front heavy arrows the more wobble is my guess and to get less wobble the shaft material would need to thicker in the middle and taper to thin to the ends. here is another one where one can clearly see the wobble "Spanning and shooting a medieval Crossbow"
I'm having my folks up to the cabin. I rocked my dad's world and said my friend Rich always smokes cream cheese. Smoke some cream cheese and bring that up Nort. I cannot wait to get up there tonight so I can mash on it!!
Where do you get "arrow friends" like that? ha I shoot fixed heads, weighted inserts, and aluminum shafts. No indexing needed. Arrow systems around 475 grains seem to have a good balance between speed and penetration. Going from a 100 gr point to a 150 gr doesn't seem like that much of an increase, but you are increasing your actual point weight by 50 percent! This will usually take an arrow well above the 12 plus percent effect of FOC. My 150 gr point arrow system is at 14.5 percent FOC.
Pretty soon crossbows will reach the point of too much power I believe. But speed sells and manufacturers know that. What I've noticed is that they keep upgrading the crossbows but not the arrows. And that's not very fitting in my opinion.
Awesome arrows. That’s all I shoot out of my Excaliburs. Aj’s Custom Arrows is going to get real busy real fast. Great guy. Highly recommended.
Yeah anyone interested should hit him up now...dont wait until closer to season 😆
Great video Rich! Those are some beautiful arrows. 😍 Glad you like them. 👍
Thanks again!
They are some beautiful arrows for sure. Good to see you on another video Jimbo, Gen's new arrows are going to be deadly from Bunjie Jr!
Awesome brother..can't wait to see what you and Genevieve hammer with those new arrows..
What a great guy! Very thoughtful!

way to go getting in shape. Makes so many things better.
Really neat video!!
Congrats to Gen and Rich!!
And a shout out to OEA!!
As well as AJ.
Good folks ALL!!
Those are some beautiful looking arrows guys. Happy Independence Day to everyone.

Well, Rich you have done it😂 My Swat X1 showed up today.
Sweet good luck!

Good Morning!
i need to buy new arrows this year, all the work that goes with it
Now's the time for sure!
@@Deathbybunjie and the price per unit has really gone up, well tg my crossbow is the only addiction i have :))

Could u maybe give us a link to that arrow builder ??
I looked and could not find it ??
Thank u sir
In description! FB and telephone number and email.
@Deathbybunjie thank u sir
Is spine indexing when you find the spine before you attach your vanes? Thx
Yeppers and line the vanes up with it

I understand it could be helpful if you only hunt from up in a tree stand, just curious.
Dave told me Burt coyote lumenocks will not work in my tenpoint carbon bolts. Oh well
For my scopes downhill makes no difference, the burris oracle x is digital and compensates. Seems to make no difference on speed scopes either.
@@Deathbybunjie good to know! Thanks
man thats a heavy scope of almost 900gr thats must wobble as well on its mount nt only the arrows
It's not light lol but overall works well
