Ill bet with today's economy, most cross bow hunters can't afford the ones north of a thousand dollars. A large percentage of bowhunters (like myself) are senior citizens now. Many of us are gravitating to crossbows, but on a fixed income, most of us will be looking at the $500.00 or so range. I think if the crossbow companies are smart, they will focus a larger percentage of their product line on that market. BTW, you're right about the credit cards, I paid off my last one like ten years ago. paying that interest is insane.

I’m buying 3 bolts for $60. That’s with no broadheads the broadheads are about the same $60 for 3… what I’m trying to say I guess is you get what you pay for in today’s economy..
Good one for sure, I shot some video of that process once before but something happened and I lost it or it didn't record. When the time comes we'll do another one for sure.
Speaking of manufacturer speed ratings... it's particularly annoying to me when a manufacturer's tested/ listed speed ends up in the name of the crossbow. I shoot an Excalibur Mag 340; They tested the speed with a 350gr bolt, but they recommend using a 400gr bolt to preserve the limbs. With 400gr bolts, I am shooting just over 300 fps- which is fine for me- but my Mag 340 *based on their recommendations* doesn't shoot 340.
Agreed...the Mag 300. Just call it the Mag lol. Same for the others. My Deathstalker 420 doesnt get 420 for me. The SWAT X1 doesn't get 405 from me but at least it's not in the name lol.

Not sure it's here or there, but I'm shooting 411 with 465 Gr. No, not the arrow weight that came with the crossbow. Just saying it's possible. And yes I get excited every time, I get there magazine. Definitely a kid, in Christmas feeling! 😁 $1,500 mid-range! Damn. Mid-range. Not sure I can get used to that sound. I wonder how many of us can afford, or are willing spend $1,500 and above for a crossbow. Not saying it's good, bad or indifferent. Just wonder what the percentage of people spending that type of money are out there? That are serious crossbow hunters, that is?😮😊
They sell all kinds for a reason, but they sure do sell a lot in the 1500 dollar range. A podcast I listened to said the 1200 range is now 1500 due to inflation 😆
I found that out the hard way myself 😂. They don’t open the gate till end of the month, I believe. I’m ok with it though. Crossbows are starting to dominate the whitetail market that’s why. Western hunting is still all vertical bows cause well they are not legal for western archery seasons. If that ever changes which I expect it never will crossbows will take over completely. Even with crossbows being a little more challenging for still hunting.
I remember those Sears catalogs lol. In the family where I grew up, we had six kids plus my mom and dad and we all hunted. I hate to think it would cost over $25,000 to get us all in the finest crossbow equipment available. A problem with Society today is that it’s more of what they spend to impress other people than what will actually do the job. I prefer the page on Cabela’s with the $300 crossbows. My wife had used a Barnett $149 crossbow that we bought at Walmart for years in the Texas Hill country. She has taken axis, Whitetail, hog and many other animals with no problem at all and never lost an animal. It’s sad when the cost of a crossbow is $4000. To be honest with you those big ugly scopes look like you have a fire log on your bow. I really enjoy your program and appreciate what you do but I respectfully disagree on this one video. 👍🏻God bless. donallentexasoutdoors UA-cam

I love how you glossed over the Oneida bows and remarked "those aren't compounds" :). The cams are actually mounted on each end of the riser. A nothing burger and just an FYI..
Ten point has Scorpyd technology, that is probably as close Scorpyd will ever get to representation in the mainstream today. Scorpyd should have stayed with its original concepts high speed low poundage and just keep refining its bows. With that being said I would think Scorpyd would be your choice, still the fastest crossbow you can cock without a crank.
In all honesty, Scorpyd is older tech. It cannot win in the compact bow game. There is no free lunch in physics. Scorpyd either starts making smaller bows with 300lb limbs like Ravin/TenPoint, or they remain a bow with lighter limbs and a bigger footprint...
Scorpyd will get a workout during Crossbow Appreciation Month soon. Also, I agree no free lunch. And shooting the much smaller SWAT X1...it's noticeable. But at least I can rope cock that one too
@@jenniferrobinson5813 I agree with what you said. Not everyone wants to go that route. Scorpyd has some Excalibur DNA in it, you can work on it without a press. You can great speed with under 200# limbs and low maintenance. These 500fps and compact crossbows require special presses and eat strings and cables. I still think the Mathews Mission Sub-1 out sells all other high end crossbows, slightly compact just under 400fps and can work on it without a press. At the end of the day their is something for everyone.
What planet are u living on? There was so much info about Bass Pro buying out Cabelas As a matter of fact most of the remaining Cabelas stores will become Bass Pro in the coming years. Johnny Morris is the owner of Bass Pro and has doing more for conservation than most. Your description of the old Cabelas and Bass Pro catalogs was totally mixed up. I wish people that make these films would research what they are talking about before doing them
I hope not! (to the rangefinding scopes being the normal near-future). I'm just a fuddy duddy who gets irritated every time Ravin and others compare their equipment to "rifles", and irritated that each new model release is just chasing more speed (500fps+ is ridiculous - this is ARCHERY!). To say you just lock in your range like a missile, is the same mindset that will send androids or armed drones into the woods to do our hunting for us. Let's stick to hunting rather than push to take all the hunting out of it. There's meat at the store already that is brought to you by nearly total automation. You just might be wishing away your hunting future. Honestly a lot of publicly perceptive damage has already been done by Ravin's ignorant and irresponsible "rifle" ad campaign, which is why I hate that brand. Hunting is a manual application of physical and mental skill. Leave the computers at home. And leave the "rifle" and military artillery at home when crossbow hunting.

Barnett says "Send it".
I think they meant "Send it back".
😂✌️ 🍩
Ouch 😆
Barnett uses half moon nocks.
You should buy one of those 200$ crossbows and show how to hunt effectively with one.
Tempted 💯
@@DeathbybunjieI just bought my first crossbow.. it’s rated to shoot 405 but was only $180 after the sale and my military discount
Gonna be taken it down to PA in the fall along with the lessons I’ve learned from this channel .. very excited to try a new method of hunting!
Thank you for all the knowledge!
@@shively22 awesome good luck
26X will crank silent
Crossbow is no longer the out cast in archery main stream
💯
At the price of a LOT of those crossbows, they should have 5 wheels, one being a steering wheel lolololol.
I love how you glossed over the Oneida bows and remarked "those aren't compounds" :). The cams are actually mounted on each end of the riser. A nothing burger and just an FYI..
Lol 👍 I admit i know nothing about those.
I will never buy a Tenpoint crossbow I had one and I had a problem with it they would not fix it.
There is no way in hell I’m buying a crossbow for $1600 that only shoots 329 fps.
Indeed
i am not seeing why i should spend that much money
do you really need to spend that much money to kill something
i wonder what in xbows has become so d..m expensive,. all products evolve over time but this is just plain old greed
too much stuff made overseas can not shop there, make the same stuff in my shop or do without
What planet are u living on? There was so much info about Bass Pro buying out Cabelas As a matter of fact most of the remaining Cabelas stores will become Bass Pro in the coming years. Johnny Morris is the owner of Bass Pro and has doing more for conservation than most. Your description of the old Cabelas and Bass Pro catalogs was totally mixed up. I wish people that make these films would research what they are talking about before doing them
Wow who thought this was such an emotional issue
I get it but I really think we don't have to worry. I'm not worried either way lol
Interesting fact ivshoot compound bow but also crossbow and with compound bows they rarely reach speeds advertised usually baseline is within 10 fps of advertised is common . Love your vids I could watch all day!!!
