the osrs wiki is actual peak. in my 20 years of video gaming, never have I seen a wiki better maintained and interconnected with a game ever. it's crazy how much we take standalone wikis for granted. "fandom wikis" are obnoxious, and some game wikis are horribly formatted. osrs wiki rocks
We really are so lucky. I recently also found out the minecraft wiki is also under the same (parent company?) called weird gloop. And it's the only other amazing game wiki I've seen
Big agree. Don't be afraid to update them yourself either. A lot of the time information is like 90% right on it, so if you think otherwise and can show it... do it
Something that goes unsaid is that when you see a bad wiki, you should probably give a go at fixing it. People love to talk about how X or Y games have incredible wikis, but I've never seen anyone try and push people to contribute to the bad ones.
This is so incredibly well done. The community, and potential new community members, have needed this for a long time. The hardest part of Runescape has always been getting started. In order to attract and help new members, this should be on the OSRS front page. Or this video could be the final part of tutorial island just before being teleported to Lumby. Awesome job Kip!
31:47 you ain’t lying bro. I used to love to play RS back in middle school (2005). Since I didn’t have a PC, I’d go to the public library to play it until I got kicked off. Im in mid mid 30s and I just started playing again and man! What a nostalgic feeling. I can’t believe I still remember a lot of it. Thanks for the video.
It’s ok to take breaks from the game. I’m back after 2 months off. You lose no progress made in membership even if you cancel your membership. A lot of other MMO’s will punish you for this, osrs doesn’t. You can pay for membership a year later and you will have lost no progress in your members skills.
I have thousands of hours in OSRS and I wish I had this video back in the day. Great job mudkip! This is the kind of stuff that’ll keep our game alive for years to come!
I appreciate this. As a kid I did 0 research and just kinda ran around. Friends gave me stuff and that’s how I got through lol. I’ve barely done any quests and barely spent time actually trying to make money. So 32 year old me appreciates this a lot
I REMEMBER YOU FROM years AGO! I am so glad you're still here and alive. You helped me back in 08-09 I believe coudl have been 2010 but thankful for the refresher!
Just started OSRS a couple days ago, I'm 32 btw hah, and no, I hadn't played it until now! I'm in love. And thank you a ton for this video! It's very well put together and clear, and the thought process flows like a leaf on a stream... or sumthin
A general tip I've given to a few of my friends who started playing is to not get all hung up on efficiency. Just because you don't have all the optimal gear to do something doesn't mean it won't be worth it to do anyways. For example, Blast Furnace can be done solo, and one you get to steel smiting, even with buying every piece of coal and bribing the foreman, you can still turn a good profit and make excellent smithing XP without ice gloves or goldsmith gauntlets even on an Ironman account. If every time you decide to embark on a new skill or money maker, you stop to backtrack into items or quests that will make it more efficient, you'll just end up playing the entire game beside a walkthrough.
Hey Mudkip, Love the vid, I've been watchin ya for a while and love all the content, for any of the new people he has a series I watched way back when he made them called "Maintain a bond" thats a great place to start. That was way back when bonds were only 4m but all of that content just like his new content still stays relevent because he teaches you the skills you need not just the here and now. I played way back on Miniclip and came back to OSRS shortly after it came back, made my first bond killing ogresses and mining gold it takes a really long time on f2p but once you get to members so much opens up to you. So much more of the map, Skills like hunter or fletching like shown in his old video still will make you money and is still really good, never thought I would be 2100 total lvl on main but I really love this game and would recommend anyone to get into it despite the learning curve and the point and click old style you have to get used to but for me has nostalgia lvling woodcutting only behind lumby when I was a kid and just selling to general store XD, love the vids as always man and keep up the good work.
ive been playing rs since 2005 and have gotten friends to try osrs, but it can be challenging to explain things to new players sometimes. so thank you for this guide, ill have any new players give this a watch and itll hopefully help them out more than having a veteran player just dump information on them. love the content man, keep up the good work.
Just started playing and I am on a free to play plan. I only play for maybe 20 minutes a day. This guide will help me know how to make the most use of that time. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for this. I'd played a little R3 in the past but I started OSRS yesterday after a watching your R3 vs. OSRS video. It's quite a bit different - and more enjoyable so far!
runescape has given good memeories regardless of age and when you started, welcome to osrs. I started back in 2000 in the summer, playing school and public libraries.
i was searching for a game to play with my old 2012 macbook, i thought why not osrs... im currently 3 days in and i am at total of 255, no regrets its awesome for easy and casual grind. Your video helped me alot!
Awesome video! I've almost completed my f2p goals (just gonna get the bosses) then I'm going to get membership. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to commit but this guide really simplified things!
This was so unbelievably well done. Genuinely I absolutely loved this video it had so much good advice, I wish I had something like this when I was starting out in the game
Thank you for making this! Long time MMO player but somehow never got into Runescape growing up so I am interested in trying this but had no idea where to start :)
This is the exact guide i needed when i started playing 4 years ago! Since then I have used so many of your journey videos as skill guides for levelling my account and starting PVM. I'm maxed now and about to get my 1000th clog. Thanks for all the tips and tricks over the years!
I tried a main account about 2yrs ago and it was kinda fun at first, but I feel like it lost a lot of value from my friends just pretty much handing me everything I need to pretty much jump into endgame content. Since coming back a month or so ago, I started a fresh ironman account, and it has honestly been really fun. I'm learning so much more about the game and how to navigate the world, as well as how to go about doing/getting everything myself without the option to just buy my way through any obstacle. Just hit 1250 total, and I'm actually looking forward to getting deeper into the mid game before pushing towards the late game.
I figured I'd give this classic a try as I'm a lifelong gamer (now in my 30s) and am familiar with MMOs in general, and maybe this is a dumb question considering but...is this fun? Being able to put the game window to one side and grind a bit sounds really nice to me. Long, grindy quest-chains sounds like a great thing to chip away at from time to time. Considering how thriving the game still seems to be after all these years, not to mention the updates, it seems to be in a brilliant place. I guess what I'd like to know is how people jumping into the game late (like me) have thought about their experience so far? (Also, this was an absolutely fantastic intro for the game, I'll be coming back to this for sure! 🐐)
Vet player here. It's definitely a super fun second monitor game for long grinds. It also has content that will require attention. The best part is you can do either one, or most skills allow you to do both. As for the new player experience though, I can't say. I know it can definitely seem overwhelming at first. Best part is to take it slow. The early game, mid, and end game are all a part of the experience. There is no need to rush to endgame. The grind is the game. I really suggest watching Settled's series on the game as it will give you an idea of the adventure that awaits!
@@ponstruck Thanks very much! I was a little worried about new-game overwhelm but Mudkip's comment about it and your comment have settled that. I'll look forward to taking my time with the game while working on other stuff 👍
It's literally awesome to see this game thriving so hard and with so many classic players as well as new people getting into the game. The game feels just as alive as it did back in '07. The good old days are back and here to stay brothers.
ye fought a clan called wg wilderness guardians with my clan twice the total of both fights was like a hour and 10 minutes. After we won i saw some of the enemy players in game skilling and we said gf and carried on. Reminded of back in 2005-2007. The best thing about runescape is the community aspect of interacting with other players and formign groups and goals.
Joining an active clan can be so helpful. So many people to chat with and potentially group together which I had never done in a decade of RS. I was dreading going from 62-77 prayer. A guy spent a mill and a half on dragonbones so I could get to 65 fast, and that gave me the initiative to just go the rest of the way using 1k bloodveld heads. That lead to me being able to pay it forward and help other people struggling getting a skill up.
here is a tip lvl up slayer to lvl 85, and collect seeds and bones, bury the bones and bank a full invetory when your task is done use herb sack to collect herbs. And just by that without buying any bones you will gain 1mil prayer exp about. Then sell the seeds and herbs u colelcted from 1-85 slayer, you will now have enough money to buy ensoled demon heads to get 4.5mill prayer exp or buy enough bones for 2.1mill prayer exp. Thats what i did but i realized the best way is to get high combat stats and duo bandos, easily you will make 7-8 mil a hour with a bandos partner, just have combat stats about lvl 85+, the attacker uses divine combat potions the tank is in full justicar or barrows armour gear with crystal shield and karils top.
This video is a little bit late but I'm still gonna send it to my friend and hopefully it can still help him lmao. The OSRS wiki clears any other games' hands down. It's crazy.
not new but still love watching these guides, you did a great job! I wish I had this video when i first started oldschool haha, hopefully more new players get into the game as well and have your video to help :)
Thank you for putting this together and sharing. I am a new player, over 50, and shifting to OSRS from EQ. This experience will be a great change. I look forward to the adventure. Your's was the first UA-cam guide I watched, and I believe I was fortunate. Thanks again. I'll be following your channel and hopefully give you a good update soon on my newby character. See you around. 😊😎🍻

Loved this ,thank you! A friend who has been playing forever convinced me to try group iron man and i'm enjoying it so far. I can't believe I never played OSRS before. It's slow and grindy but there's no pressure to play every day :)
I just started playing again for the first time in like 5 years. I barely started when I did play too, although I did also play for a bit in the 2000s on an old character. Thanks for the guide, I'm gonna need it. Crazy good timing. Edit: omg I'm so happy to know there isn't any way to get into my original character from the 2000s too. I kept wishing I could remember the login, now it doesn't matter haha Edit 2: I was able to get my name changed back to my OG character now too! New sub here! I finished the video and it is gonna be a huge help. Thank you!
Long term f2p goal... getting all f2p skills to a certain lvl b4 membership 😅 19:31 37:34 several people have offered me bonds 4 free no charge but my method of playing is kinda of like Ironman without the Ironman restrictions 😅
thank you for this! ive been playing on and off since january this year and definitely needed some motivation to continue playing. i'm not too pressed to getting a bond just yet, i want to get pretty far in f2p before switching over! hopefully watching other videos while playing osrs will help keep my attention on the game
I always comment my journey on vids like this, I started in 2020 because the quests looked very intresting, not fetch stuff or kill stuff but handcrafted very funny and sometimes deep adventures, long story short, completed all the quests, moved on to the diary cape, now am sitting at 2200, next goal, combat achievements, pets and maxing! Goddamn love this game with all my heart, the devs love the game for real, and they can reason with the ivestors that adding MTX and P2W would ruin the game. I can't ask for more as an mmo fan
I always knew about runescape, well the og 2007 runescape to the now osrs but I never played it myself but after randomly watching an 11hr ultimate ironman tileman video by settled last week my interest was irrevocably piqued. So thus started my own osrs adventure last night and this video was honestly perfect at helping me out as a brand new player with no idea about anything. so thank you!! :D
It would be so cool if you made more how-to guides like these. I learned so much from watching your GIM series, like mounting an amulet of glory in your POH. It would be cool if you made different tips and tricks videos for herb runs/slayer/runescape hacks because you know the game so well and explain everything so well.
I highly recommend just buying membership with real money, having to sustain GP for a bond at a low level will feel like a chore, and the gold you can keep instead will be really beneficial to progressing your account
best comment playign for bonds takes mroe physical and mental energy then just paying 13 bucks for the month. BUying memebrship as soon as you start will give you a major advantage and literally save you hundreds of hours in skilling and training.
I wanted to play but grinding for a membership all the time and doing other things while playing isnt my ideal game i realised so thanks for the vid so that i didnt waste my time
I'm looking to return to runescape, I haven't played since probably 2010. I remember working my butt off to get an abyssal whip and doing the quest line to get that magic bow that didn't lose ammo? Wish I could get my original account back but I didn't even think about the fact that my account would have moved onto what is now RS3 so I'll be starting over. This was a great video my friend thank you for the info!
i was hesitant for a few years after launch of OSRS , just because i remember how grindy it was. but there is a lot of nice changes that makes the grind a bit better. i just want to stress to don’t burn yourself out trying to train one skill or only doing quests. just do as much as you can and diversify your account. once you start hitting late game you will thank your self.
Glad he talked about using bonds to keep being a member. I wasn't around when they were much cheaper but at this point I'm not willing to pay mems and I'm not willing to go to work in the game lol. Not sure where that puts me. I feel like bonds aren't a realistic goal for anyone other than whales but they're effective at keeping you addicted to the content drip.
I remember playing this game when i was an elementary way back on 2007, When i saw the old school runescape on mobile i go crazy on it. Brings back the old good times
I haven't played in a while but i've been intersted in playing a UIM, i'm going completely blind even after watching all your UIM videos; wish me luck! :D
Ive played since 05 & this guide is perfect for a friend of mines thats recently just sunk into osrs. Even tho I knew all of this, I watched it all Mudkip and also shared to my friend 😊
Tip from obsessed new player (lvl 1803) who started less than a year ago, this is perfect and Runlite is your best friend - but play around for a bit before you do. This game came out before modern quality of life improvements and it shows. The game requires a bit of everything to move forward and if you don’t enjoy absolutely everything you’ll be held back long-term. RuneLite helps this.
For non Ironmen, instead of using world 330 for poh, use world 331. There’s always someone who has a maxed poh open, either loveable or 24hr or someone else, and the world never gets full like 330 does
If osrs didn't have the wiki, we would see players walking around like it was actually 07 scape. Combined with the fact, slayer music would be one if not the most important osrs player.
I can vouch for getting involved in the community via clans/discord. I was a solo player for the longest time, but after joining a clan which had its own discord channel, they helped me progress my account and gain more knowledge of the game so much! I consider a lot of them to be my best buddies online, constantly bossing, doing clan events, bingo, etc.
Some tips for new ironmen : Kittens = death runes, bring a ball of wool. Runelites menu entry swapper works for shops You can craft birdhouses while moving
I started playing as an ironman my first time playing, never played it back in the day. I think being an Ironman is super interesting and you get to experience a lot of content that most players would never see because its "not optimal" and buying things on the GE can bypass much of the game. But its also extremely annoying. Having to walk across the world to get one item sucks, world hopping to buy things like sand sucks, having to grind out slayer with shit weapons before you can kill the monsters to get good weapons sucks. I only recommend it if you like pain and suffering, otherwise you'll eventually hit a wall and stop playing
Dam needed this 2 weeks ago when I started playing.... Dropped £50 in bonds and only managed to get 58 smithing with it, kinda feel like I'm missing something lol
you should get gold-smithing gauntlets (for double xp) and then process gold ore at the blast furnace for early smithing levels then you want to do blast furnace for other bars and then process those bars are the giants foundry

Also, you’ll never stop osrs, you’ll just take extended breaks.

Not THE wildmudkip uploading a beginner guide when I’m contemplating getting back into RuneScape on a fresh account

Great video man. You could probably make this into a whole series, there’s so much to learn as a new player.
Loved this ,thank you! A friend who has been playing forever convinced me to try group iron man and i'm enjoying it so far. I can't believe I never played OSRS before. It's slow and grindy but there's no pressure to play every day :)
As someone coming back to the game after 25 years I gotta say this video is awesome! 😊
I kept wishing I could remember the login, now it doesn't matter haha
Edit 2: I was able to get my name changed back to my OG character now too! New sub here! I finished the video and it is gonna be a huge help. Thank you!
Long term f2p goal... getting all f2p skills to a certain lvl b4 membership 😅 19:31
37:34 several people have offered me bonds 4 free no charge but my method of playing is kinda of like Ironman without the Ironman restrictions 😅
thank you for this! ive been playing on and off since january this year and definitely needed some motivation to continue playing. i'm not too pressed to getting a bond just yet, i want to get pretty far in f2p before switching over! hopefully watching other videos while playing osrs will help keep my attention on the game
Haven’t played since 2007 thank you this was so thoroughly explained and easy to follow
Great video full of so much practical information! Definitely checking out the rest of your channel. Good work 👊🏾
Appreciate it, thanks for giving the vids a chance!
Most useful video I've watched as someone that just started playing
Trying to learn this game, its my bfs favorite. This video was really helpful!
Only just came across your channel but love this video I'm a returning player after 12 years started a new account a few weeks ago. Subbed! ❤
Just started 3 days ago, what a great gave as well as relaxing.
Thanks for this, Mudkip! This is an invaluable resource for new players.
It would be so cool if you made more how-to guides like these. I learned so much from watching your GIM series, like mounting an amulet of glory in your POH. It would be cool if you made different tips and tricks videos for herb runs/slayer/runescape hacks because you know the game so well and explain everything so well.
Thank you for this video. I wanted something like this help my friend become introduced to the game. :) You're the best!
Just a comment to register the beginning of my journey in the game. Great video!
I haven’t played this game in almost 20 years I have no idea what’s going on I need to watch all the guides I can!
Mudkip constantly dropping videos trying to suck me back down the rabbit hole.
No one quits.
Yeah. I mean, its less than what (probably) most people make in under an hour of real life work in terms of money.
im compeltely new player and thank you for doing this guide, a lot of info but great
It’s so weird how iv just come back to this and you put out a video 😂
This was an awesome video and opened up a lot of cool stuff I didn't know, thankyou!
This was an amazing video, thank you!
Coming back from playing in 07... the wiki reminds me of the Runescape guidebook they used to sell at the scholastic book fair. So damn cool!
I wanted to play but grinding for a membership all the time and doing other things while playing isnt my ideal game i realised so thanks for the vid so that i didnt waste my time
Great video, I'm almost maxed and still learned some QoL stuff I'll definitely be using from now on
What a nice pokemon, out here helping the noobs
Let’s do it at the same time!
If you need a clan to join let me know. We play with NightmareRH if you remember him from back in the day
@@ponstruckI’m down if you wanna invite me! I think my name is X Disciple
I remember playing this game when i was an elementary way back on 2007,
When i saw the old school runescape on mobile i go crazy on it. Brings back the old good times
I haven't played in a while but i've been intersted in playing a UIM, i'm going completely blind even after watching all your UIM videos; wish me luck! :D
such a good guide thanks watched the whole thing!
Been playing since 03. Recommended this video to my friend to get them into it and eventually do group iron man with them
Appreciate the help G keep grindin!
There’s always someone who has a maxed poh open, either loveable or 24hr or someone else, and the world never gets full like 330 does
Eventually everyone will start using 331 and we'll go full circle where 330 is the small secret world
this is probably the best thing ever in the whole wide world
I'm having interest to try the game. Thank you for this guide.
If osrs didn't have the wiki, we would see players walking around like it was actually 07 scape. Combined with the fact, slayer music would be one if not the most important osrs player.
New to runescape in general, great video. Subscribed 👍
RUNESCAPR aka OSRS is becoming well know again the player base increasing by the 100s every day!
Great video mate! Nicely presented. :)
Only been playing this game for about 20 years, might as well watch this video.
A drinking game: everytime mudkip says "wiki", take a shot. I'll see you on the other side
Happy to be a grey beard dad still playing osrs almost 25 years after I first played RS2 for the first time in my high school IT village 😳
Some tips for new ironmen : Kittens = death runes, bring a ball of wool.
Runelites menu entry swapper works for shops
You can craft birdhouses while moving
Subbed. Just embarking on this journey, playing a 20 yr old game I've never played (and i'm 32 lol).
Started playing 2 days ago, i am so overwhelmed lol, theres so much anywhere and everywhere.
Exceptional video and guide, thank you.
3:49 Note about runelite as well, if you're on Linux it's available as a Flatpak.
Great video mate!
that little montage during the slayer bit was peak
Dam needed this 2 weeks ago when I started playing.... Dropped £50 in bonds and only managed to get 58 smithing with it, kinda feel like I'm missing something lol
hey don't worry! progress takes time, im certain you're not far from learning loads more about the game!
you should get gold-smithing gauntlets (for double xp) and then process gold ore at the blast furnace for early smithing levels
then you want to do blast furnace for other bars and then process those bars are the giants foundry
Your goals suggestion is making the game more fun for me, my current goal is rune armor 😂 then after that unlocking drag weps
Another new plauer here
Thank you! Needed something slower paced EQ. Fishing and woodcutting sounds more chill. I'm tired of fighting all the time.
