    My thought with the comics and action figures is actually a clue to who AM really is than the cop. Like paramedics and other emergency workers keep toys for kids on hand. Gus here likely does a lot of death notices and probably as part of his routine gets a toy and prayer card for the kid. It could be in an earlier like AM was also in some sort of emergency services until something happened to him or someone close.
    Also, about Swann, Dixon also said they had his eye verification which is harder with a dead body. I think this story is much more about Reacher and his faith in people and his own judgment.

    22:15 - Thank you!! My career was television. I've seen so many promising projects ruined by either padding or rushing a story just to meet a stupid running time requirement. I've only been retired a year or so, and the two examples of this kind of storytelling I've seen ("Reacher" & "Ted Lasso") makes me think I could really get used to this 'streaming' stuff. "Modern Television", indeed!

      The Mandalorian is notorious for its erratic episode run times (and most other Disney shows, but especially the Star Wars ones). Not just fitting to runtimes, but streaming has really shifted the perspective on the 20+ episode (network) season, which now feels like it drags even more than it used to.

    Note on the toy, Russo says "the same one my nephews have." I think you're supposed to imply the ones in the car were those ones, and the one he gives this kid here is a new one. Russo feels like a straightforward guy, he sees his nephews like a toy, he assumes all kids will. It is a curious similarity to AM, though, that I didn't clock on my watch.
    Also, Reacher concludes that Russo has a 'rat in his house', and his boss is played by the guy who plays a corrupt cop (of some kind) in basically everything haha. He's to corrupt officials what Sean Bean is to incoming death.

    If we're looking at possible traitors within the Special Investigators, we shouldn't forget Dixon I suppose. She was just 'undercover' somewhere, and being deep under means you can lie well. One: A decoy family? Yeah, step too far.
    Two: I'm also not sold on Swan. Purely because of Reacher's character at this point. He's a very cynical guy. He lets things go easily. He calls himself a realist, so he doesn't just ignore facts. Except when it comes to his guys in the 110th. If they take his friend and make him a traitor, it would shatter one of the pure things about Reacher, and I don't know why the writers would do that.

    Talking about superheroes, and the actors in Reacher playing them in Smallville. Robert Patrick was in the DCEU, as the villain in Peacemaker, just like hes the villain in Reacher. Aquaman is in the DCEU, and Alan Ritchson was in the last Fast and Furious with Jason Momoa, also playing villains. Jason and Alan have both played Aquaman. John Cena was also in the last Fast and Furious film, with Alan and Jason. He was in The Suicide Squad, then in Peacemaker, both in the DCEU like Aquaman. Aquaman even had a cameo with Peacemaker. In The Suicide Squad, Cena was the villain, then in Peacemaker he played the hero. Alan and Jason played the hero Aquaman, then in Fast 10 they played the villains. The Fast and Furious franchise could be considered superhero films, because of how ridiculous they've become. Only one conclusion - MULTIVERSE!!!

    The only reason i dont think its O'donell is cause the plan is just to kill Reacher and his team..they dont want them alive, just dead and gone. O'donell has had every opportunity to kill them, which would be his only mission here.
    Also cause when they went tothat house they blew up and when the bikers attacked them they were trying to kill him just as much. There was no guarantee he would've lived...and he helped kill the would be assassins, why help his targets?
    I dont think its anyone in our team, i also dont think its Swan for the same reasons you've mentioned. We haven't seen him once at New Age and its just too fuckin easy

    I hope that O’Donnell isn’t a mole. I enjoy his dynamics with the other members of the team, but I do agree that there are a couple of moments possibly hinting that he could be revealing the team’s whereabouts

    • @glasgowc1
      @glasgowc1 8 місяців тому

      O'Donnell's blackmail of the Senator's aide is the only reason the team knows about Little Wing at all, because nobody else on the team had a solution for getting that data out. If O'Donnell were working with the bad guys he'd be trying to steer the team away from the critical clue; not right to it.
      There's also another clue that neither Dixon nor O'Donnell can be the traitor; in this episode, the team was split up into two pairs of two. Each potential traitor was alone with either Neagley or Reacher and had a clear shot at their back, under circumstances where they could very plausibly have told the other survivors that the bad guys found them and got lucky. Neither of them tried.

    From a meta standpoint, I don't think Swan is involved in the missile theft / sale, simply because the show hasn't shown him being involved. We've had scenes with Langston, A.M. and the guy with the scar, but nothing with Swan. From an in-universe point of view, I think it's a case of Langston using Swan as a scapegoat. My line of thought is that Swan joined New Age, discovered that his boss was working an illegal arms deal, reached out to Franz (because they're both in New York) to look into it, Langston discovered that Swan knew about the deal and decided that a live scapegoat was more useful than a dead whistleblower and killed off everyone else involved in the investigation (Franz, Sanchez and Orozco), then set his sights on the rest of the 110th if/when they started looking into things. Neagly's idea about the difficulty of holding/taking Swan at New Age doesn't hold up, considering that the place was completely empty when the 110th treated it like a drive-through, not to mention that Langston could turn-off or alter any security they needed to to drag Swan wherever they wanted to.

    One thing that I'm wondering: For someone to be part of the 101, Swan shouldn't be the type to use his real name in shady business. I think it's O'Donnell. The way he looked back in the car, the phone call could've been code. O'Donnell has motive in that he could be trying to provide for his family, but using illegal means.

  • @Cullthorn
    @Cullthorn 8 місяців тому +2

    Great reaction. I think the toy the cop has might have to do with the fact he was someone that lost his father. He might keep toys in the car to give to kids at a crime scenes or when investigating the death of a kids relative or something as a way to make them feel a little bit better knowing what they are going through. He's a tough cop but something like that would be a good way to humanize him and make the audience see he's not so bad.

    I think the theory that Swan is a bad guy is a red herring. Reacher doesn’t recruit “bad guys”. I think the dirty rat in the police department is Russo’s boss (the lieutenant, whatever his name is). We only saw him once so far but why show us him at all if he doesn’t play a role in this?? The special investigators are as righteous as they always have been. Swan has got to be dead. I don’t know how they are tricking the system that Swan is alive but they likely have his hand and his eyes to help in that task. Gross but I can’t think of how else this happens.
