The 'crons are one of my favorite factions in 40k, and the only one I own models of. An ancient, impossibly powerful, horrifyingly eldritch and arcane race of soulless abominations come to reclaim the galaxy they once ruled with an iron fist. And then there's Trazyn.
Humans, Eldar, Tau, etc. often struggle to understand what they are fighting and dying for. But the Necrons have already died. And that's the most terrifying of all. The Necrons already died to rule the galaxy and they feel like it's owed to them.
I've been wondering about this: What exactly would happen to a Tomb World if Orks showed up? Does it become a never ending battlefield, do the Necrons just up and leave, or do they invent some sort of vacuum to suck up all the Ork spores? I should probably note as well. As much as I like your shorts, the long video content are the best and I can't wait for the next one.
Necron weapons tend to cause chain reactions in the molecules that they hit, and most likely straight up disintegrate a significant portion of a spore. And because gauss weapons work from the outside in, it’s even better at jumping to the released spores. Even more so for tesla weapons.
@@overlordinquisitor6565 yep. Their weapons are specifically designed to be anti life. Unfortunately what really gave orks the upper hand 60mil yrs ago was that the eldari worked with Korks to fk them up. A semi unkillable intelligent Kork with incredible durability and physical strength could work as meat shields with magic powers while the eldar would conjure devastating phsyker energy from another dimension and obliterate necrons. These new dumb orks stand no chance and the broken eldari are nothing more than a shadow of themselves. Unless they find a way to work together, the necrons and chaos will be the only things left fighting in the universe. And chaos relies on souls and living beings for energy. So unless the chaos gods work together to stop necrons like right now, the necrons will kill their energy source and eventually the gods will weaken and die and the necrons push into the warp itself cleaning out everything one by one
I recommend you read "Twice Dead King: Ruin." The early chapters show orks on a tomb world and the crons trying to run them off. It is also an incredible book cover to cover.

I doubt they outnumber Orks. Humans are a different story, but it's also worth noting that when the Necrons went to sleep they were EXTREMELY WEAKENED and did it to avoid detection/obliteration by the Eldar and Krork. Also some got destroyed by the Eldar over the years (probably not a significant number though) so the race is nowhere near as numerous as it was during the war in heaven.
The thing I love most about the necrons is they're so so extremely advanced that no advanced weaponry can truly hurt them yet the thing is most of the other races are so far behind that the necrons no longer have adequate defensive measures against those primitive weapons xD

Blackstone actually has two abilities: 1. to block out the warp, as with the pylons 2. To channel the warp, to absorb it or "use" it, as with the blackstone fortresses. You need to polarise the blackstone to make it useful. It's an important thing to mention that both the old ones and the necrons used them, and it shows in the two blackstone constructs we know of. The Blackstone Fortresses (Also known as the Anvils of Vaul, Vaul being the Eldar forge god) use blackstone that's polarised to channel the energies of the warp and project them out as a way to fight the C'tan (Also to blow up Cadia #1 *Never forget...*) The Pylons, on the other hand, were directly made to combat the warp through a negative warp polarisation (Blackstone used in the fortresses are the examples of positive warp polarisiation) This essentially creates a space that is "devoid" of the influence of the Realm of Souls (What we now know as the warp) It's why Saint Celestine was turned mortal when the pylons were turned on during the war for the Cadian Gate. Don't ask me, a simple Lord Inquisitor, how I know this. And you never heard this from me either. *Runs away so as to not alert the Puritans*

In game Dakka Squadron, where one of the enemies are the Necrons, there is a really interesting monologue of a Necron Lord to orks. How remember orks at their prime and that they are nothing in compare. Then the ork pilots in their Dakka Jets trashed him and his Monolith and later on, to add salt to the wound, they looted a Doom Scythe. Couse Orks are Orks :)
Wes, I'm absolutely loving these long form dives you're putting out. I already watch a lot of Luetin's long form videos, but having yours is complimentary and offers a lot of details that one or the other may not have covered. Look forward to more!
Love the Necron Lore since I started playing them almost 2 decades ago! I've since stopped playing the TT game but still love the lore. I just wish there were more Necron novels! Great video, by the way! 👌
Quick correction in the flayed ones segment. The tapping wasn't a flayed one trait, it was a means for a flayed one to talk to his friend via a code the shared while the rest seemed to use a kind of hive song to communicate.
Also considering how petty they seemed to be, they would find a reason to turn on C'tan anyway. Also it wasn't the C'tan as a whole that lied to them, it was exclusively the "Messenger" aka the Deceiver acting as sort of an envoy between the two while pulling up strings everywhere just for the heck of it, first getting the Necrontyr souls for his brethren to feed on and then constructing the entire inner conflict between then by convincing everyone that they can get even more power by eating each other. Basically all fell to hell because of this one C'tan that was especially machiavellian and sociopathic even when compared to others from his kind. Poor Outsider is still weeping in his refuge due to that guy.
I don't need to be the biggest, but if I can assert myself firmly in the middle, to where I can justify doing this full time, I will be super happy with that 😃
I think current Necrons are way more charming than original Necrons and the Tyranids are better at the "horrifying, mysterious entity we barely comprehend" thing.
I think they're a bit of both. When first awoken they're that horrifying mysterious entity but after a while of composing their personalities they regain their charm.
i like both because the one we did not know about there story where like "old robot that can kill anything", they where fear itself they still remain it but they gave a sad feiling now in bonus whit the fear

the Necrons have a machine that can make any star in the Milky Way to go supernova and it basically was considered like: -"Hey boss, can we keep this one?" -"Uhmm... Yeah sure, why not?"
Your script and reading of it was absolutely amazing. Awesome work! Most other lore channels suck at reading and writing, take 40k theories for example, who is extremely bland and uncharismatic, but you managed to succeed very well at both. Your narration isn't as cinematic as Baldermort's or witty and crass as Majorkill's, you have a more neutral way of speaking in these videos, which lends itself well to these presentations.

I'm not a WH40K player, other than Dawn of War I haven't had any contact with the franchise. I have zero interest in getting into the tabletop game, however the setting is super appealing to me and it's very interesting. Your videos are exactly what I was looking for, and since I'm not into Shorts or TikTok, these long form videos are wonderful to me and I enjoyed them a lot, I appreciate that you added the chapters too, that's super helpful. I hope you continue doing more lore videos on other factions, and interesting moments in the WH40K universe. Thank you.
I really need more videos like this. I love your videos but have always thought they are too short. The way you share/tell the stories is really enjoyable!
Loved the video, it had aspects that I didn't know about like the intelligence of the flayed ones and is gave a really nice overview of The Necrons. To go indepth into the various groups of the necrons would take hours. However there is one major plot point that you've missed in the lore video and it is a very recent lore point. It's what the Silent King found in his exile. In his exile being beyond the stars of the milky way he found the Tyranids and knew that they would be a threat to the rise of his people and any hopes they had of reversing the biotransferance. He has been back for a very long time, long enough to have met Sanguinus and they were on the verge of making an alliance. Never the less in the Silent Kings eyes only a united necron people would be enough to stop the Tyranid tide.
This gives me an idea for a 40K campaign. Maybe a race of mechanical beings that evolved from as a silicon based lifeform rayher than a carbon based one. Essentially making them cold, calculating, machines from the day they evolved to the point of sentience and intergalactic travel. Just, have the Necrons come across them on the edge of the galaxy, and see how they interact.

My intro to the Necrons was the game Mechanicus. Great game, if you like CRPGs and X-com like turn based games. The OST is phenominal too. Necrons are the true victims of the story, forsaken by the old ones. Who IMO are the cruelest of all, they have immortality yet seed sentient life where they see fit, knowing that they are damning their creations to oblivion. Up until the Necrons said enough is enough and then the old ones forged sentient weapons. Only to save themselves. Then the Necrons were betrayed by the C'tan, so they clapped two races of gods then took a 50 million year power nap just to flex.
"Warp Travel is insanely dangerous." For the lesser meatbag species it is. I could see the Necron having a blast in the warp, laying waste to anything and everything they came across lol.
God, I wish we'd get more Warhammer games involving the Necrons. Easily the most fascinating race Warhammer has to offer, with one of the largest and most diverse unit roster. Which is surprising, giving how 'uniform' their initial appearances may be. Tau and Necrons have become my most favorite races lately once I started to embrace what they had to really offer.
They basically are in all games :). I hate them in videogames. The reanimation protocols are super annoying. When I kill something in games I want it to stay dead :)
I love how chaos is horrific, madness and just downright abominations, but the necrons, they’re different, they reverberate an awful feeling that lingers. In my opinion they are far quieter, but scarier in their own way.
Love your content Wes. Only recommendation for improvement I can make right now is to quote the source and page number you get things from, even if it's just a small annotation written on screen.
@@markevans1618 yup, the Krorks where up to 13 meters tall..... thats like fighting and Imperial Knight, only it could probably survive alot more damage. Not to mention the Krork mega armor and genius waaaaaaarg energy!

Well 40K was originally a spin off of Warhammer Fantasy, and the Necrons are literally the spin off version of the Tomb Kings of WHFantasy
@@vardiganxpl1698this doesn't sound right. Fun fact : necrons (both currently awoken and in slumber) outnumber both humans and even orks
Well shit
Yep, *billions* of tombworlds
That's probably just propaganda.A mere Eldar bedtime story. In fact, they don't actually exis- no, that's nothing, stop digging! I said stop, Karl!
I honestly love Necrons lore, it is FIRE ;)
I doubt they outnumber Orks. Humans are a different story, but it's also worth noting that when the Necrons went to sleep they were EXTREMELY WEAKENED and did it to avoid detection/obliteration by the Eldar and Krork. Also some got destroyed by the Eldar over the years (probably not a significant number though) so the race is nowhere near as numerous as it was during the war in heaven.
The thing I love most about the necrons is they're so so extremely advanced that no advanced weaponry can truly hurt them yet the thing is most of the other races are so far behind that the necrons no longer have adequate defensive measures against those primitive weapons xD
they have the power of literral physical god and forget that a rock can hit hard because of it

Yeah, i think the necrons can win
uh t'au feel pretty much human
Blackstone actually has two abilities:
1. to block out the warp, as with the pylons
2. To channel the warp, to absorb it or "use" it, as with the blackstone fortresses.
You need to polarise the blackstone to make it useful. It's an important thing to mention that both the old ones and the necrons used them, and it shows in the two blackstone constructs we know of.
The Blackstone Fortresses (Also known as the Anvils of Vaul, Vaul being the Eldar forge god) use blackstone that's polarised to channel the energies of the warp and project them out as a way to fight the C'tan (Also to blow up Cadia #1 *Never forget...*)
The Pylons, on the other hand, were directly made to combat the warp through a negative warp polarisation (Blackstone used in the fortresses are the examples of positive warp polarisiation) This essentially creates a space that is "devoid" of the influence of the Realm of Souls (What we now know as the warp) It's why Saint Celestine was turned mortal when the pylons were turned on during the war for the Cadian Gate.

In game Dakka Squadron, where one of the enemies are the Necrons, there is a really interesting monologue of a Necron Lord to orks. My favorite faction. Lore, mechanics and the fact that the Necrons will be around forever is just so cool.
Quick correction in the flayed ones segment. The tapping wasn't a flayed one trait, it was a means for a flayed one to talk to his friend via a code the shared while the rest seemed to use a kind of hive song to communicate.
funny thing about the C'tan is i dont think they needed to lie, the Necrontyr were already marching to their inevitable destruction out of spite

I think current Necrons are way more charming than original Necrons and the Tyranids are better at the "horrifying, mysterious entity we barely comprehend" thing.
I think they're a bit of both. When first awoken they're that horrifying mysterious entity but after a while of composing their personalities they regain their charm.
i like both because the one we did not know about there story where like "old robot that can kill anything", they where fear itself
they still remain it but they gave a sad feiling now in bonus whit the fear

Your script and reading of it was absolutely amazing. Awesome work! Most other lore channels suck at reading and writing, take 40k theories for example, who is extremely bland and uncharismatic, but you managed to succeed very well at both. Your narration isn't as cinematic as Baldermort's or witty and crass as Majorkill's, you have a more neutral way of speaking in these videos, which lends itself well to these presentations.

Excellent presentation! The conversational tone and excitment in your voice really makes this a treasure.

How Necrons can deal with Chaos:
Feed their C’Tan shards warp entities. The C’ran get addicted to consuming warpstuff, thus nullifying Daemons
But then they get stronger consuming all that energy. The Necrons would never let them become that powerful ever again.

Necron Lord: Daleks, You have declared war upon The Necrons!
Dalek Sec: This is Not War, This is Pest Control!
Really dig this video thank you. I used to play Necrons more than 15 years ago. I love to see how the lore has been expanded
"Warp Travel is insanely dangerous." For the lesser meatbag species it is. I could see the Necron having a blast in the warp, laying waste to anything and everything they came across lol.
Found you thru shorts, but the long form content is why I'm staying. Great stuff.
"Left death for lesser creatures."
Not just to help prove your point, but this also helps people to look for the next book to read if you say something they find interesting and they want more.
