Zuccarello was getting like 70 assists at 82 overall. Brad Marchand last year was scoring 40 goals 100 points at 79 overall. Patrik Laine once he drops to 84 or 83 overall will still absolutely have a shot in the mid 90s, great puck skills and offensive awareness and will still be around point per game with 40 goals. You should keep him and just move him down the lineup come playoff time, but his point production will still absolutely help the development of younger players.

Fun fact, you can edit players on your team to obtain x factors. Just go into "edit players" and give whatever you want them to do. I don't have a full team of x factors (because they will lose em if they underperform) but if I'm rebuilding and want a young kid of the future on the top line I'll give him a Superstar ability and if he does better, they'll develop other x factors that compliment that one.
I completely agree with letting go of the ageing players. Twitch and UA-cam get too attached to players instead of wanting to do what’s right for the team long term.
From my experience playing this game I’ve learned that AHL production doesn’t impact player growth, which is bizarre, but the player is going to have the same growth whether they are scratched or playing in the AHL, just something to keep in mind going forward
I’ve got a question about the drafts, if you find a 19 year old who’s medium elite, could you theoretically revert a save to a previous year and draft that medium elite at 18 years old? Or are players of all ages newly created for every single draft or another option, do un drafted players change in potential
John keep Laine until he retires getting rid of him is crazy. Even as he drops off he should still have the shot and shooting tendencies combined with the offensive awareness plus if he continues to have good seasons his overall shouldn’t drop too much. Unless he wants like 8 million at an 84 overall or wants crazy term but signing him for like 2-4 million for 1 or 2 years at a time to be a depth goal scorer/ 2PP shooter come playoff time is still valuable. Like next off season wait until you can see what he’s asking for if it’s too much trade him, but if it’s a reasonable amount then sign him short term until he really doesn’t have a place on the team. Getting rid of chychrun and werenski and sway should be plenty to sign mintyukov. You’d just be using Laine’s money for a third liner at that point just use him as a third liner.
need a second line LW dylan gunther is fine but replaceable with a med elite player with more potential gunther i believe is more of a third line player he is having a good season tho!

Hey John, little idea I thought of to add an extra bit of realism to the GM mode if you want. When doing the real time sim, add the models of the generated players (like Vesce, Erne, etc) to the blank heads when they score. Not a must, but could be a bit more immersive if you wanna take the extra time to edit. Great GM mode, do whatever you gotta do to keep the videos coming.
