Make your roster changes, do NOT retain any salary with the Werenski or Laine trades, simply go into the NHL Draft & trade to maybe go higher in the draft. Those would make sense. Regardless. This may be the best Franchise Mode you've ever done Johnny, loving the content!

Hey John. Keep Patrick Laine. He’s capable of putting up 100 pts on the second line. Thats a great luxury to have, but one you can afford since chyc and werenski are being traded. If you still need to trade a forward move guenther instead. He would be much easier to replace come the trade deadline if you even have to replace him at all.
If John carries on with the Yeti, I think there are three major points to consider before next season: 1) Special teams and discipline let you down in the postseason. If there's going to be a roster shakeup anyway, it could be a good time to make a coaching change to maximize Vesce and Kurtz long-term since they're the most likely star players to be here for multiple years. 2) I don't know what kind of contract Laine wants, and I know you want him gone, but if he'll take around $5mil on a short contract, I don't see how you can let him go. He's probably going to be the kind of player that consistently scores in the playoffs during the slow sim even as he ages out of his potential and XFactors, like a Marchand or Pat Kane, as long as he isn't on the fourth line. In fact I'd go so far as to say he probably wouldn't have too much regression going into next year, but because of where he played during the regular season, it might be too late to fix that. But if he's gone, this team's postseason scoring is going to take a major hit going forward unless you find a bonafide goal scorer to replace him. That guy is not on the roster right now. 3) There are always guys in free agency that sit around 80-82 overall and will take $1-$1.1million and can rot in the AHL or be scratched almost all season. This is exactly how Kakko came to Utah, and he was pivotal to the run last year. You need to get at least three of these guys so you have options during the season for depth, and especially in the postseason if the sim decides some of your bottom six guys are going to lay down and play possum on the ice. EA is fucked and seems to reward you for making changes for the sake of making changes, but this year you didn't really have any depth to do that. Signing a couple of those guys off the scrap heap doesn't affect your cap hit at all since they're effectively the same price as a two way contract (sometimes they even want that) and they could provide the change needed in the playoffs.
The fantastic Finn, Patrik Laine could easily be considered a legend in Utah hockey and I think I'm not alone with that one. In my humble opinion it would be cruel and extremely criminal to not let our beloved Patty retire here in Utah where he played the best years of his career. So I think it would make a lot of Utah fans happy if you could somehow keep him on the team and let him retire as a Yeti!

I think the delusion for this year is there for some reasons. Vesce got 70 goals, the president trophy win. And the last 2 years was great. We did a lot of good things, maybe it was too much for this year. What I think is just we need some details: - one more year with Laine (we need him, he deserve another run) - analysis of the penalties (too many) - a better second goaltending - a good second line center - a good partner for Kurts The next year will be first year “free” after “the Vesce trade”. And the first year “free” of the buy out cap. Just one more year! Please! 🙏🏼

Mintyukov in free agency, and the first line is set for years with Kurri, Cooley, Vesce, Kurtz, Mintyukov,...Sivan, Nobakov, and Noronen make up the top 6, with Faber and Lindstein, there's top 4 Swayman stays for one more year before Hynes takes over, Ludeman is trade bait at this point with Hynes locked in then it's just depth players and another cup run, and 4 in 5 years!!

You should’ve Consider Vesce on the 2nd since Laine was playing so well. I think for Line Changes. You should have your Regular Season Lines , Best Overall Lines. And then best Chemistry Lines. When things weren’t going well. I think it would have been good to try the Best Chemistry Lines.
