Wait. So America is an alien, attending school in an alternate dimension... and she chooses to wear the US flag, because... I don't know... she just likes the look? Isn't that cultural appropriation, on the level of an indian headdress?
Nope, because she's a brown SJW with multiple Victim points, so nothing she does can be wrong or improper. Nothing she does can be declared "problematic" unless she becomes a political conservative.
In fallout 4 there is a saying "sounds like something a synth would say." About the synthetic people from the institute. This comic is something a synth would say.
First Dan Slott's imaginary girlfriend, and now Gabby Rivera's harem of minority lesbians... are all these writers just chubby little garden gnomes, writing imaginary love lives for themselves?
Zack:. "Interdimensional school for gay minorities...I wonder how that sounded in the writer's mind?" Gabby "Rivera": "Interdimensional school for gay minorities?!?! That sounds...(looks at English to Spanish dictionary) that's loco bueno!"
Pretty sure I speak more Spanish than her, and I'm a country black dude. Although, I have been close friends with a Mexican dude for the past 20 years, so...cheat codes. I've also been to Mexico multiple times. XD
Someone should tell Rivers that her character is in reality wearing the blackface equivalent for central americans, or simply tell her that America is committing cultural appropriation since she is not actually from central america nor does she share the same genetic makeup as the people living there.
[America walks up to an Indian Reservation] *America:* I'm an indigenous person. I want to live with my people. *Native American:* Oh, so are you from the Lakota tribe? *America:* No, Chica. I'm from the Utopian parallel universe that's made of lesbians. *Native American:* [tear rolls down cheek]
Marvel is pushing America so fucking hard. meanwhile I just want to vomit. "the warmth of the sun belongs to you. I have the RIGHT to be joyful." reads like a self help book.
Yeahhhh I thought that people didn't really pay attention to this but I googled the name and people are really making news articles about this X-e? Like it's a huge deal.
It feels like all these writers have been in clinical therapy their entire lives. They can't write heroes because they don't have the personalities of heroes, they have the personalities of deeply flawed and damaged villains.
Assuming Marvel gets good again in 20 years from now, I really want to see it publish a hardcover omnibus edition of Gabby Rivera's America in a "remember when we published the worst comic of all time" way. I'm not kidding, just straight up advertise it as that. Seriously, this series is so bad on a legendary "Manos: the Hands of Fate" level that it deserves to have that collection, just so collectors and future generations can appreciate the all-out cringe of it. Edit: OMG you mentioned the Saladin Ahmed Corn Pops thing! I was thinking of sending you one of the articles on it in an email; personally, I'm just amazed at the amount of time he had to have spent staring at the back of the box to notice that.
" I forgive your rage america. It's Quite in the nature of your people to resort to violence." ` white haired lady . Is their a form to change protagonists. The white lady is far more interesting ,and funny.
The proper words are Latino or Latina, our language is heavy gendered, and SJW are idiots if they think they can change it. Also, the generalizations in Spanish are made in the Male form of the words. As an example, if they wanted to refer to various Latin American people (male and females, young and old, any sexual orientation, or whatever distinction or label you want), they must use the male form of the word and say: They are a lot of Latinos there. That’s why they try to use Latin-x, because they just can’t accept our language is gendered, and don’t have neutral pronouns (at least not in the way the Latin language has).
I'm starting to think even people at marvel don't like Gabby Rivera. I mean Look at her twitter, no pros ever interact with her or even acknowledge her existence. I honestly feel bad for her. shes in an environment where even the people you'd think would accept her seem to despise her.
Because she's clearly an affirmative action hire. Everyone who got their job through merit is going to resent her whether they want to or not. It's a cancerous hiring policy.
JohnGorno I would think Justice Sotomayor might not want to be associated with such a mistake especially seeing as how it is such a prestigious college. : /
Take this cover as an example to all those people who say that these new SJW characters are not replacing the old ones. Even the most awful character is replacing the good characters from the past.
What is with everyone in these comics constantly emotionally validating the main characters? Will they explode if everyone doesn't love them? I for one, think we should look into this possibility.
I hope comic shops have finally learned their lesson after getting hosed on this lenticular gimmick. The stores need to band together and boycott this stupidity. They're throwing good money after bad and Marvel is leading them all towards bankruptcy.
As bad as all the America Chavez comics are I can't help but feel worst for Prodigy. He was a former X-men and Young Avengers member with so much potential, but he seems to constantly get the shaft one-way or another. Losing his powers (but thankfully regaining his knowledge), losing his girlfriend, losing a job oppritunity at Stark Industries, being reduced to "The Bisexual Marvel Hero/The Homewrecker" and now he's basicly just a supporting character at best in America's comic series or America's "stay at home sidekick" at worst. Classic Marvel... SJW Marvel... David Alleyne can never seem to catch a break... :( Also the guy is supposed to have the combined knowledge of virtually every person he's encountered prior to losing his powers(which was to acquire the knowledge of people around him) including the martial arts/combat skills of most of the X-men. So, why the hell is he just poking one of the Mindless Ones with a damn beach umbrella?!
Indeed, it would. But sadly, it doesn't seem like anyone over at Marvel is interested in giving Prodigy some sembelance of happiness or recognition... :(
I see your point. But all that just makes me feel worst for Prodigy. He's been screwed over constantly by Classic Marvel, but not screwed over enough for SJW Marvel to give him a chance to shine? All because he wasn't marketable enough or because he didn't score high enough on the SJW victim lottery? That's some major BS!
Just realized I wasn't subscribed, either that or youtube was trying to blue pill me again. Keep up the great work man and let us know when your comic prints, I'll buy that shit!
You're kidding. This over-glorified birdcage liner costs four bucks ?! Why not buy toilet paper instead ? It's cheaper and it's certainly a much better read.
as someone who doesn't particularly have an eye for good vs. bad comic art, i think it'd be interesting to see a video on the difference or something along those lines. could also help us to see where you're coming from with your art critiques.
Don't do it man. Sell to customers directly, establish relationships like Alterna comics does. Your web presence is big enough that you can even sell directly to channel subscribers. Diamond takes too big a cut, and they don't deliver value. If you invested the same money in marketing (Direct Mail, convention appearances etc), you would get better returns. Leverage UA-cam and the internet to form relationships; don't ship through an intermediary.
oh no they're assimilating , its like the skrull invasion... which hero is the real one... which comic does marvel sell is actually a comic instead of selling us whatever that is and telling us its a comic
I recently discovered your channel and I'm going back to watch all of your videos, I am a huge x-men fan, or at leased I was, I have been away from comics for about a year for obvious reasons. When I was younger New X-Men Academy X was one of my favorite runs, and while Prodigy wasn't one of my favorite characters, seeing him talk and act like this makes me sick.
You can tell that Gaby Rivera, who is "Puerto Rican" does not know Spanish or how Puerto Ricans use Spanish. I'm Puerto Rican, lived on the island for 23 years and "malcriado" is not used by Puerto Ricans to describe adults or whatever those black figures. It's used to describe a kid that would, for example, talk back to their parents; it's overwhelmingly used to describe children. Another note is the panel when America says: dimelo que (dímelo, ¿qué?). Just by the writing you can tell, she doesn't use the accent marks, so reading it you would understand "tell me, that" instead of "tell me, what". Furthermore, we don't say that. A more "organic" expresión would be: dímelo or qué pasó (what happened). Rivera is just adding words, incorrectly spelled and using wrong grammar, to try and give the hint that she knows the language by looking up words on wordreference and adding them. Her Spanish isn't even what we know as Spanglish (New Yorican version) as their expressions and mistakes are noteworthy.
People who think their heroes should be racists? Why would Marvel want to attract that kind of reader? Why would anyone want to associate with somebody like that? I don't wanna run into an AmeriChavez fan at a convention. They're probably an asshole who thinks everyone is as obsessed with skin color as they are.
Imagine going into a shop, buying this comic because you want to read some vintage spider-man, and finding out you wasted money once you took another good look at the cover.
(kind of) latino here! Fuertona? REALLY?!?! that has to be the most cringiest made-up word I've ever heard! Fuerte is a gender neutral word! Plus, we get a protagonist who runs on stereotypes. If she ends saving the day by throwing a chancla, I'll give up on comics.
Hi Zack! Can you share the printer info you talked about at the end of this video? I'm planning on doing a anthology horror title one shot. I'm working on art and stories...I have to figure out publishing and distribution.
In regard to Hispanic comic characters, this garbage comic makes me respect Vibe from Justice League Detroit. That's saying something, let me tell ya. And if you remember Justice League Detroit, you're pretty old, just like me.
I feel like they're using the cover to trick people into thinking they bought an actual Spider-Man comic, honestly wouldn't be surprising if that was the case.
Dear Riviera: Ever since my procreation, I have always wondered when it would be my turn to get a superhero just like my queer, transgender, superkin, latinx self. If you were a movie director, you'd be like Ed Wood-After all, the classics are the ones you get your hands dirty for! Yours truly. The Southpaw
America is so disappointing because I actually like the character herself. I liked her in Young Avengers and in the Ultimates so I was hyped that she was getting her own series. But America is so bad that I quit reading mid-issue.
Here we have Marvel wondering why their books aren't selling. If you make a really bad book that does nothing but piss readers or potential new readers off, they are gonna vote with their wallets and go to either the movies or just go elsewhere to get a good story. Like maybe go buy a regular book or maybe watch one of the movies thru Netflix or something. I mean 5000 copies sold is an abject failure in any stretch of the imagination. If a video game only sold 5000 copies, the company would be forced to close down cause that isn't enough to even stay afloat cause that is only $300,000 made back if they spent $800,000 making the game that is a large $500,000 deficit that is left there. I don't get why Marvel thinks it is a good idea to piss everyone off but it is what they are doing and they are doing really really well cause no ones buying their books anymore.
Here's he funny part..in RUR, the SF story that, essentially, coined robot (it's a Czech word root meaning forced labor), the robots were also synthetic humans, not machines
Okay, you know the actual cover is bad when I react so loudly one of my coworkers has to come over and look herself... just so that both of us can agree that 10-year-olds draw better than that!
Man i sure am glad that i dropped $150.000 getting my degree in Radical Women and Intergalactic Indigenous People! Now i'm going to go out and make a fortune.
I saw the Kellogs box and the "outrage." If no one said that corn was Black, I wouldn't even know. So now I have the RIGHT to make fun of it and call the corn puffs Black. Thanks Liberals.
The worst part of these lenticular covers is that at first glance, they look like something you'd want to read, then you get close up and it's the same godawful crap they've been pushing for months. It's LITERAL BAIT.
8:30 to 9:09 felt like I was having a stroke or a conversation with a homeless person. What on earth in this comic? I am not even reading it and this hurts.
Wait. So America is an alien, attending school in an alternate dimension... and she chooses to wear the US flag, because... I don't know... she just likes the look? Isn't that cultural appropriation, on the level of an indian headdress?
Captain Oblivious There is no wonder why this is the worst selling title in Marvel. Bad concept, bad dialogue, bad art
Not to mention being insulting to actual hispanics, with her constant devolving into spanglish and "90's era sitcom" character tropes.
Yup.
Nope, because she's a brown SJW with multiple Victim points, so nothing she does can be wrong or improper. Nothing she does can be declared "problematic" unless she becomes a political conservative.
Intergalactic indigenous. So, people who are native to this galaxy. I guess that's everyone.
wow way smart yo that gave me an epiphany or sumtin.
no fucking shit. you cant be intergalacticly indigenous. YOU CANT COME FROM MORE THAN ONE PLACE
I live as daemon in warp, am i minority?
Just the other day they also said Math is racist so it doesnt surprise me they think cereal can be racist too
Greg Courtney 😑 you got to be kidding me? It's numbers!
It was something about how a lot of POC are bad at math so that means its a part of white supremacy and its racist
Greg Courtney Yet algebra was invented by POC.
Norm Lenhart Me?
Lol. I'm white and I fucking hated Math when I was in school!
In fallout 4 there is a saying "sounds like something a synth would say." About the synthetic people from the institute. This comic is something a synth would say.

Captain Oblivious Damn son
you just described fanfiction.net in a nutshell
Zack:. "Interdimensional school for gay minorities...I wonder how that sounded in the writer's mind?"
Gabby "Rivera": "Interdimensional school for gay minorities?!?! That sounds...(looks at English to Spanish dictionary) that's loco bueno!"
Gabby's refusal to admit she doesn't speak Spanish is irritating me
Do you? You should tweet her in Spanish.
maybe down in acapulco?
Pretty sure I speak more Spanish than her, and I'm a country black dude. Although, I have been close friends with a Mexican dude for the past 20 years, so...cheat codes.
I've also been to Mexico multiple times. XD
Someone should tell Rivers that her character is in reality wearing the blackface equivalent for central americans, or simply tell her that America is committing cultural appropriation since she is not actually from central america nor does she share the same genetic makeup as the people living there.
Ah, but then we'd get Zack in hot water for "targeted harassment."

Chicken Soup for the Childless Weirdo
They need to push her- out the damn door.
The movies--so far aren't displaying regressive left ideology. When they start I'll stop going.

Rob Moreau Christ, I was hoping to never remember that shitshow, Manos.
"The master would not be pleased." :)
AmeriChavez is actually based on Torgo, both in her bodily proportions and intelligence level.
The "Remember back when we thought racism was cool?" Collection featuring AmeriChavez, Ms Marvslim, and Captain Anti-America.
Example please "customsongmaker"
" I forgive your rage america. It's Quite in the nature of your people to resort to violence." ` white haired lady .
Is their a form to change protagonists. The white lady is far more interesting ,and funny.
You gotta love how they try to prove themselves to not be violent by immediately resorting to violence. That's some logic right there.
"I'M SO FUCKING INDIGENOUS RIGHT NOW!" - Randy Marsh, 2017
D&C risks brain cancer so we don't have to. "Salutes a true American hero"
"She was literally homeless in a van..."
Was it down by the river?

"Nobody talks like this." More like nobody writes like that.
Why the hell am I seeing my boy Norman with America! Heresy intensifies!

She is a racist, sexist. Never feel sorry for her
Does anyone at Marvel know what the word "indigenous" means?
It doesn't piss me off. It just makes them look stupid.
I think they honestly think it means anyone who is brown
I dont think anyones reading it over at marvel to care.
JohnGorno I would think Justice Sotomayor might not want to be associated with such a mistake especially seeing as how it is such a prestigious college. : /
I think this is one of the best videos recently. You roasted a comic, stayed on topic, and the comic was legitimately AWFUL. Good stuff, thumbs up.
Take this cover as an example to all those people who say that these new SJW characters are not replacing the old ones. Even the most awful character is replacing the good characters from the past.
I'm here! Where's my free chemotherapy?
@BigBen ill take what ever is free mang, just to end the brain cancer!!
Those clouds spelled "STOOL" LOL, truth in advertising!
I wish duckman show was still on air, i would love to see one of his speechs about sjw marvel
who needs duckman? Jason Alexander will do me just fine
Oh Jesus, that hurts me...
I never realized it but a lot of SJW Marvel seem like Tumblr art.(For better or worse.)
They're throwing good money after bad and Marvel is leading them all towards bankruptcy.
no ....janitor is a good job. Its an introvert job that doesn't pay minimum wage I would KILL for a job like that to put me through college.

LMAO when the power bottom reference hit home. But seriously is just anything ok for kids today? 🤔🤢😖
The only thing THICCER than America is her stacks of unsold comics
In reality, if you attack a dean, you are expelled and arrested before you can say “unfair”. The dean is my new favorite character.
Wait isn't everyone indigenous to somewhere in the galaxy?
You would think...but apparently it's one of their "magic words". You know, the ones with the adaptive meanings? Very useful in 'arguments'.
This is insanity, the villains come of like civilised people while the hero is savage. Nice review. Keep up the good work.
Soy Fuertón. Soy Latino. Soy Splatto.
Hahahaha
Soy Splatto indeed
Soy totalmente Palacio!
Ah no, eso es de otra cosa. XD
Soy latte.
Soy beans (or is that racist?).
You bought the lenticular cover bro come on America only deserves the harshest treatment
They make those covers so that you'd be less inclined to tear up the book and ruin the good cover.
" you see a turtle stuck on it back, trapped and dying. And you leave it to die"
e gutierrez tell me about your mother
I have a few family pictures
Also where do they get off using an old cover from a completely different series? Smh
If Gabby Rivers culturally appropriating the Spanish language?
Just realized I wasn't subscribed, either that or youtube was trying to blue pill me again. Keep up the great work man and let us know when your comic prints, I'll buy that shit!
10:19 I was listening to this while drawing, I THOUGHT YOU ADDED THAT AS A JOKE!
You know , for 4 bucks , a comic SHOULD take 25 minutes to read .Unless of course 19 of those minutes are spent throwing up .
you know nothing jon snowden better him than me. some things are best left to professionals .
This feels like it was written by aliens trying to replicate superhero comics.
Say "no" to Blood Diamond. Just let us buy it digitally or online. We'll pay for shipping if that's what it takes.
oh no they're assimilating , its like the skrull invasion... which hero is the real one... which comic does marvel sell is actually a comic instead of selling us whatever that is and telling us its a comic
Ewww. They did not just do that to the badass Amazing Spider-Man cover... I refuse to believe it.
POWER BOTTOM
That moment cannot be topped.
Trajan twink, twank, or twunk?
IT MEANS GAY SEX
GUYS, I'M GAY
The moment can't be topped but he sure wants to be
I think the lesbian said that.

It's basically Evergreen State
I do not understand who the target audience for this book would be.
People who think their heroes should be racists? Why would Marvel want to attract that kind of reader? Why would anyone want to associate with somebody like that? I don't wanna run into an AmeriChavez fan at a convention. They're probably an asshole who thinks everyone is as obsessed with skin color as they are.
Close 1 eye when looking at the lenticular & you can actually see the effect instead of it just looking like 2 covers overlapped & blurry
Uhhhh.. at my University they were CAs because we built communities not residences. Damn that place was awful.
If she ends saving the day by throwing a chancla, I'll give up on comics.
flip flops
This might explain it better:
kukuruyo.com/2016/11/05/sombra/
"Hey varon! Eso was such a great review! It was tan good!"
There ya' go! Gabby Rivers style comment, in bad spanglish, for this video.
I still didn't understand that a replicant wasn't a robot, which made 'Blade Runner 2049' confusing.
Soooo about the Replicant thing from Blade Runner: You could also do an bone marrow analysis for complete certainty. But I'm nitpicking
Chavez: I’m gonna be just like my moms.
Fans: Dead?
Hi Zack! Can you share the printer info you talked about at the end of this video? I'm planning on doing a anthology horror title one shot. I'm working on art and stories...I have to figure out publishing and distribution.
The Blade Runner bit had me rolling in the aisles
I'd hate to leave the comic book store thinking that I bought a spider-man comic only to find out it's america chavez.
Dammit. For a moment I thought you for going to go through that amazing old Spider-man issue.
can we just call all SJW comics Floof now? it saves us 4 syllables of our time.
I don't know, Zach. At 10:10 that was so cringe my dog died. And I don't even have a dog.
This comic is so bad that it kills random dogs
In regard to Hispanic comic characters, this garbage comic makes me respect Vibe from Justice League Detroit. That's saying something, let me tell ya. And if you remember Justice League Detroit, you're pretty old, just like me.
I feel like they're using the cover to trick people into thinking they bought an actual Spider-Man comic, honestly wouldn't be surprising if that was the case.
If they ever put Prodigy in an animated film or series, our boy Zack has got to be the voice actor.
I saw the thumbnail and screamed so loud internally, my vocal chords started bleeding for no reason.
What, if anything, does this have to do with Spider-Man?
Splatto Del Gatto would make for a better cover than the uninspired half assed Spider-Man homage.
This is so much cooler than buying the comic and reading it myself! Zach could cringe for America!
Re : The lenticular cover..John Romita is pre spinning in his grave .
you beat me to saying that! well said!
jmen4ever Gracias...Hey , I know as much Spanish as Gabby Rivera!
Dear Riviera:
Ever since my procreation, I have always wondered when it would be my turn to get a superhero just like my queer, transgender, superkin, latinx self.
Are those the SWATBots from Sonic SatAM?
1:11 Didn't read the letters collum. I wanted to have a laugh! You screwed me ZAKE!
This isn't a comic book. This is a tumor of pure autism.
Here we have Marvel wondering why their books aren't selling. "Platonic life partner"?
So this isn’t a Spider-Man comic? How is this not blatant false advertisement???
I am actually curious why the one cornpop was darker
Yo, I'm mad sneakin' out. I got my hoodie on and EVERYTHING
As I asked in a previous review of America, for who is this comic meant?
i had no clue that a school named after the first latina supreme court justice was extradimensional.
