MC Eight in his interview on Vlad TV broke it down what 2Pac was complaining about during the rehearsals. 2Pac wanted the background of his character, Sharif, to be explained in the movie, so the audience can understand why he is a Muslim. I'm sure the Hughes Brothers remember that.
Spice 1 said the same thing in his interview
Daniel Brooks so did Tyrin Turner who was actually there when it happened

Brothas really hustled back then. 20 years old directing a Hollywood film?!?! And that was after several other mainstream projects! Damn.
Exactly! Who's doing that these days?...
I know right , I'm like whaaat ? dang , I'm 21 years old & just putting together minor projects/films for college projects .
There's a difference between those who need to learn, and those who know. That's why you see young people just going ahead and doing what they want, and those who WANT to do something so spend a bunch of time learning how.
mr.knowitall It's probably just not possible now. You had way less distractions back then, hardly any computers, no internet. They were living in the right 20 block radius, and met the wrong group to provide them equipment. At new line, you had lots of young people back then working there, now everyone is 35, 40+. I would say the average director before they reach that level success is looking to be around 35 years old now. It just don't happen that fast anymore. Even rappers every year their entrance is getting older. Used to be a 17 old rapper was the normal by 19 blew up, now its like get out by 24 or 25, possibly later. The system has matured to a place, and the competition is so thick, that you need years of branding for whatever you are doing to make it. Just my observation.
Nonetheless, they made the movie and it was successful and well done. And besides, they must have had something going for them in order for a studio to dump millions into their project...something more than a cosign from Tupac.
He's saying tupac basically turned into bishop foreal
100%
I have been saying this for years. Pac wasn't authentic. He was a movie character, and wanted to be Bishop. You don't go from performing art school to thug life.

@Carleton Rutherford right. but the idiot wont understand what you are simply saying.
This is why every son NEEDS A FATHER. You get love from your mother but you get discipline from your father. Your father instills the skills you need to be able to handle adversity and not act like a little cry baby when you don't get your way.. Obama and Michelle they never talk about not having kids before you are married. I will. If you know your not going to be there for your son/daughter than DON'T HAVE KIDS. If you can't support them then don't have them. THE REAL SIGN OF A MAN IS IF YOU HAVE A LEGIT JOB AND CAN SUPPORT YOUR FAMILY!!! Not how many hoes you can bed. I wish woman would have more respect for themselves rather than hooking up with deadbeats. Hughes was the boss and 2pac never had that father figure to help him handle situations like this.
You're right, but at the same time he said his father was a crack head and that he didn't need him
Well father's don't use crack! This thug mentality needs to stop! MLK would say, pull your pants up, turn around your cap forward, and stop getting these stupid tattoos! Wear pants, a collared shirt, and maybe a tie and you might get hired! How hard is that?

It's amazing to hear what he said about the movie JUICE because if your around 40 years old....I remember alot of us thinking "Tupac changed...now he thinks he's Bishop".I think Pac was so smart he saw the power of that imagery and started to run with it.He was one Pac before JUICE and a different Pac after . That change happened so early on in his career us early fans forgot about it while the majority of his fans were post JUICE so they never knew the difference any ways.

That story about Juice was really eye-opening. People said that Tupac changed after that movie, but to hear it from a firsthand account from Alan Hughes explained a lot. Because when you think about it, Tupac didn't have all those tattoos, and his songs wasn't hardcore gangsta rap when he started out.
That story about Juice is a flat out lie, or Mr. Hughes just simply didn't really know Tupac on a deeper level. For anyone that knew Tupac, or was even hip to his music prior to him doing Juice, they would know that Tupac always had that duality in him. You also have to remember that Tupac was homeless and was taken in by pimps and dope dealers between 1988 and 1990, and during that time, Pac hardened up a lot and became even moreso a product of his environment.
You really gonna believe this clown? Everyone who knew Pac on a close level said Pac was always that way before Juice. Haters will do anything to try to downplay Pac's image, throw him under the bus, or make his seem like he wasn't authentic. Pac was the embodiment of being authentic.
Been born in jail, not having a father , getting moved around from city to city because your mother was on crack and getting shot 5 times did nothing ohhh but watching a movie was the catalyst...

a character that he played so well and so often that it eventually became a part of him. You can never really tell what Tupac was like, since we never actually knew him, but it is undeniable that he did embody `THUG LIFE` to a degree that some of those characteristics blended into avenues he probably didn`t intend them to.
Lmao he played the character so well that when he went to the studio he got shot wtf you want him to do stop playing the character your an idiot he lived the life never played any character. Except in front of cameras as everyone does
Keep in mind he got shot and robbed beat up by police and also multiple fights on the streets let’s not forget when crooked cops were harassing a black man on the street Tupac defended him and ended up shooting the off duty cops was all this a character you think it was a movie? Tupac was raised to not fear anyone but god(black panthers) people will confuse him as a gangster too because he was signed to death row and it publicized gang mentality
Don't believe that nonsense. The character didn't make Pac. Pac made the character. In other words, Pac was always like that before Juice, according to people who knew him closely.
