  • Today's video brings us to western Wisconsin to ride the Stacker MX track near the town of Cornell. I had a ton of fun riding this area. The track was pretty beginner friendly with several table tops and smaller doubles. I didn't have the nerve to hit the biggest double but definitely regret not taking a shot at it. I hope to conquer it the next time I go! They plan to refresh the track for the 2022 season so if you're in the region I definitely recommend checking this place out!

    Got a question for you. I just bought a new se raptor 700r. I've been breaking it in an noticed when feather the clutch a bit to take off it minor hiccup but if I let out very slow and barley give gas it's fine. Once I'm riding I have no issues. I am only using 1/4 to 1/3 throttle for the first 10 hours. Has the expected power for the 1/4 throttle. I'm just wondering if it's normal while everything is seated in? Also I have not rev out machine or went in high rpms. What's your thoughts or anyone else. Thanks

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      It’s definitely a never ending debate between the quads and the bikes. I do think for safety purposes it can be good to keep us separate depending on abilities out on the track. They like ruts and we blow them out. Unfortunately the bikers need to be catered to because there’s so many more bike riders than quad riders.. they help keep the tracks in business but slowly we’re losing tracks to ride quads. This track in particular is managed by quad riders thankfully and will continue to allow quads into the foreseeable future👍

    Hey Pete , having a hard time deciding on which quad to get. I do mostly trail riding and don’t know if I should get the raptor 700 or the yfz450. Do you have any input ?

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Avery, it can be tough to choose between the 2 machines. The Raptor is definitely at home in the trails. It’s perfect for more casual riding and has tons of torque which makes climbs and drag racing quite a bit of fun! It’s also nice to have that power in the sand. The main draw back to the Raptor would be its handling. It can be a little top heavy depending on how hard you’re riding it. It has limits on a handling and suspension level that the YFZ does not. The YFZ handles on rails and is very easy to ride. It’s also a bit stiffer which is nice for performance but it’s not the most comfortable if your gonna be on it all day. The YFZ is a very on/off machine and doesn’t like to be lugged around like the Raptor can be. The nice thing about the YFZ is nothing is really off limits. You can pound whoops and jumps all day and the machine seems to handle everything with ease. Reliability wise the Raptor is a bit lower maintenance and most people expect to get quite a few more hours out of a Raptor motor than a YFZ motor. If I’m deciding between the quads it really depends on the environment and my mood almost. If I’m exploring a new area or feeling more chill then the Raptor is perfect for the job since it’s so comfortable and has the power for any situation. If I know I’m gonna be in a more track like environment with jumps and berms then I tend to want the YFZ since it’s safer and more predictable when riding more aggressively. Essentially one is a muscle and one is a sports car. If you have any specific questions don’t hesitate to ask! 😊👍

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      Not it’s not necessary but you do stand quite a bit when your track riding so if you feel hunched over or uncomfortable then you may want to look into taller bars, bar risers, or a taller steering stem depending on how you want to set yourself up 😊👍

    Hey i had a question? Do you have race suspension? If so what brand cause i wanna get it for my kfx

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому

      My rear shock is stock but my front shocks are OEM revalves by Rocket Ron. I think he did a great job setting up the front. I hope to have him do the rear. Having a shock builder set up your OEM shocks can be quite effective and it’s cheaper then going full aftermarket. I don’t race so it’s a great option for myself. If your looking to compete and really push the limits then getting aftermarket shocks is probably the best choice. I know Ron set up Michael Sabo’s shocks on his KFX450 and they turned out great! Basically you can just call Ron, tell him your set up/needs, and he’ll come up with a strategy that’s best for you. He’s been in the industry since before quads existed so he knows his stuff! Hope this helps! 🤘

    Pete question you probably always get if you could only own one bike which would it be out of your 3?

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      It really depends on what type of riding I’m doing. I spent a year deciding between the YFZ and the Raptor. I knew I wanted a “mainstream” brand like Honda or Yamaha because aftermarket parts availability is more plentiful and customizing your machine is half the fun! After fully experiencing those models I still would lean towards the Raptor as my primary machine. It’s an excellent do it all quad for the types of riding I do. It’s super fun for exploratory riding since it has so much torque and it has very comfortable ergonomics. I’d say it’s only drawback would be track riding since it’s rather top heavy and it can be kinda scary to jump at times. The torquey power plant always makes me smile though and they’re very reliable machines which is super nice. I always say the Raptor is a muscle car and the YFZ is a sports car. They both are fun but if there was only one in the garage I’d have to go with the Raptor which is why I got that machine first. The 400ex is an excellent machine in its class and I always have fun riding it around. It’s a bit too slow for me at times but for its size and purpose it’s hard to beat. Plus it has that legendary Honda reliability 😅👌

      @@yahirbarragan6630 if your buying for the YFZR I’d recommend the R5 over the R4, especially if you’re going to be track riding. The muffler hangers on the R5 are billet and it’s designed for more intense riding conditions. Plus it’s supposed to be a little quieter but they still sound great 👍

    What’s the nerf bars you have on your raptor 700???

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      They’re pro armor nerfs that I special ordered through ATVgalaxy but that was in the fall of 2018. I’m not sure if they’re still available. They used to have a website but now I think they’re exclusively on Ebay. At that time they were the only distributor that had access to small batch pro armor ATV parts that I know of. Hopefully you can source a set! Otherwise I’ve seen raptors with Alba, Rath, factory43, XFR, GYTR, and lone star racing nerfs. There’s definitely options out there. I would lean towards Rath or Factory43 since they have monster pegs 👍

      @@PeteHager Those nerfs bars look good. I like the solid heel guards on them. Iv been looking for a set for my 06 Trx450r but all I can ever find are heel guards with nets. I’d like to find some good solid black ones. Iv got AC nerfs on it that I painted black but have never had heel guards.

    What do you think about a raptor 350 is it a good quad

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      I think they’re good machines! I definitely recommend staying within the Yamaha or Honda family just because aftermarket parts availability is better. I’d say the best thing to do is to test ride any machines your interested in if possible. Other good options are the 400ex or KFX400/Z400. The 400ex probably has the most aftermarket options between the bunch 👍
