Bought a 2858 two years ago and have FINALLY been able to see it in-person and run it just last month (I live in two countries; the pandemic kept me from returning to where the 2858 was shipped). I’m a little late to the party, but this thing is amazing as! The detail, the operation, the sounds - can’t find any fault with this loco! I can’t wait to see what the Rapido team does with the Bullet Nose Betty! Briiiing iiiitttt!!!! Thanks for doing what you guys do.
Thanks! We're glad you were reunited!
This is awesome. When I was a kid I loved taking the Royal Hudson when it used to have an excursion between North Vancouver and Squamish. Great memories!
I haven't seen a HO scale locomotive have so many details, lighting and sound effect for a while, it is really attractive and looks very close to a brass train, if not better. I am glad to see Jason is ok from the three-wheel truck crash in China and able to use the cloaking device to put two guests into one refrigerator, so that they can understand each other thoroughly
I'm so thrilled that my first model train is going to be a 2860 Royal Hudson. I really hope you make the matching passenger cars down the road!
The cab interior is a beauty! Amazing layout Keith.
Looks great guys! Looking forward to seeing you guys make more steamers. Keep it up!
You guys have done such amazing work! You have created such an outstanding model
that's an awesome layout! enjoyed the fun y'all were having, my compliments sir,
Boys oh boy, I just can't wait to get my new Royals inn! Darn these are nice! Great work guys!

Funny as always, and a great steam sound. Well done.

Can’t wait to see this at my local hobby shop!
Great video as always!
Hi Jason,
My name is Michael, I am 12 years old and from California. And I love Rapido Trains! I model Donner Pass in HO scale, and for some reason wanted a Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson Locomotive, And Rapido is the Place to get it! I Can't wait to get my very own Rapido Trains Royal Hudson run on "I have wanted a Royal Hudson since I was 4 and any Rapido model train since I was 7" And by the way Thanks for making the CP Royal Hudson.
P.S Rapido Trains is the best and most realistic model train manufacture I have ever come across.
From,
Michael
Glad you like our models, Michael!
rapidotrains No thank you!
FELICITACIONES!! COMPARTIMOS LA MISMA PASIÓN!! SON ESTUPENDOS, ABRAZO FUERTE DESDE MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY!!
Nice steam loco there guys! Janet can beam me over anytime. LOL! Cheers, Dan
Great Video guys. Please let Keith know, he has a great train layout.
"Hows it goin ey?" Gotta say this is a beautiful locomotive, on a great layout. Might have to pick up one of these Pacifics or three... >.>
Very very cool beautiful locomotives and carriages
Thank you!
Love your guys videos! 👌👍😍
Wow, Kieth has an amazing looking layout!
I wish that I could justify purchasing a Hudson but I am modelling a CP branch line in the mid seventies.
That said, I will spring for a D 10 to use on an excursion train!
Love what you are doing!
Holy smokes!!!!!! Can’t wait for mine that I ordered.
What a stunning model...
Gimme Gimme Gimme gimme GIMME! Looks awesome guys, can't wait to get mine!
Great video JASON!!!!!
j o r d a n
Seriously though, the model looks beautiful. I really like your models because you put more details into them than anyone else
Thanks!
That is a beautiful engine!
Joe G Hi
Love it Thank you for sharing
Must be quite the puller with all that brass!
It could pull more!
Nice layout ! O by the way... That Royal Hudson is thundering beautifully...
Thanks!
Gorgeous !
Keep up the good work
Nice vid
She's a beauty!
THANK YOU FOR VIDEO
I think that combination of engine and coaches is the most attractive I have seen in a long time. A mix of your stuff and others? Sorry to show my ignorance. The engine is sweet and detailed. Regards Stephen.
The brass cars are Van Hobbies. The two stainless cars are ours.
That was neat 👍🏻
outstanding craftsmanship you put out on them I am very glad you are a Canadian company too
we were scratching our self-wondering what happen to rapid trains
I hope you checked the fridge for the beer first
So that's why they are still in there. We were wondering.....
Awesome!
This is So Canadian, I need to chug Maple Syrup, I Love It!
🍁😎
I can't wait to get one of these decoders in my van hobbies 2816
Only missing synchronized puffing 💨 smoke
Very nice model. If only I could afford it lol.
YAAAAS That looks like an awesome model! Can't wait for the N-Scale version! :)
(On a side note, where can I get some of those Dalek magnets?)
They were available a few years ago from one of the Doctor Who shops. No idea which one...
Videos like this make me wish I went with HO instead of O.
I love you so much sir it's beautiful
Would be cool to hear the air reverser when directions are switched in DCC
Fantastic. 💙 T.E.N.
Thank you!
CPR 2850 royal hudsons for THE win
Great details, though!
Wow!
Now something like this layout is what I want but I barely have any room
👍
Is anybody going to help the poor lady passed out on the station platform? I wasn't going to get this engine, but now I might have to. Great Show
Very clever, very clever indeed.
👍
Awesome I really hope you guys make 2317
We certainly will consider it. At the moment we have the G3 Heavy pacific and G5's on the list though we're probably several years away from a formal announcement.
Very nice! Just need to get the cars closer coupled tho.
This will work with all the features on any DCC controller, right? Also, fantastic Hudson. Can't wait till it comes out.
Yes - any DCC controller! And thanks!
It said on a different site that the Hudson was coming out New Year's Eve 2022.
We can't pinpoint a release with that degree of accuracy with the current supply chain issues!
Beauty video eh,
Absolutely a beauty EH! So I have two on order, if I order a third do I get the fourth one FREE!? Just like tires?
We wish!
Great looking train on an awesome looking layout!
Are there any of these locomotives left?
Thumbs up! 👍🏼
Absolutely! There are three in museums in Canada.
@@rapidotrains Cool! I meant are there any models left to buy....lol
ps I'm in 🇨🇦eh.
Ah... we have a handful. Call your hobby shop or send us an email through our web site and we can help.
Extremely beautiful engine, the sound system is wonderful, too bad I’m in N-scale.
Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Impressive engine! Where can I get those coaches in the clip?
They are brass models by Van Hobbies. Your best bet is to ask at hobby shops as they turn up frequently.
On top of passenger service, I will also model freight with these beautiful Hudsons, any plans to make caboose to match the era?
No plans right now but you never know!
You guys need to make a 2816
It is planned. Subscribe to our newsletter: tinyurl.com/RapidoNews
Jason this is a beautiful locomotive with lots of great detail. Don't get me wrong but can you please put the correct color of LED in the firebox it should be Yellow not red.
The yellow LEDs we saw looked like lemons! We are trying to get more of an orange yellow.
What is the car just aft of the tender? Beautiful models!
Thanks! That’s a Dynamometer car behind the locomotive. They’re were used to measure the performance of the locomotive.
Beautiful Locomotive, One Question, Would it be possible to Get it for a Lower Price, For Years ive been trying to Get a Royal Hudson.
After watching the documentary Rocky Mountain Express, it would be so nice if you made a ho example of 2816, the Royal hudsons are nice too. Do you have future plans for a 2816 4-6-4 Hudson model?
Absolutely. We recommend you sign up for our newsletters: www.rapidotrains.com/signup/
Yes!!! that would be nice, we had a chance to ride it in Montreal in 2004 :)
Would anyone know what I would need to program my Royal Hudson 2861 to be able consist with Rapido's VIA Rail F40PH-2D (rebuilt as well) and CP FP9A? I noticed that the Hudson would run a little slower (speed wise) than the two diesels and the tender light doesn't seem to come on when in reverse. Front headlight works fine. On a separate thing but related. Has anyone experience where the tender stopped working/providing additional pickup power and sound? Thanks.
For warranty issues we recommend sending an email using our online contact form and one of the warranty/tech support team will be in touch. Here's the link: rapidotrains.com/contact-us
❤️
what is the first car behind the locomotive?
Dynamometer car.
How easy would it be to make this great looking loco more like it looks currently? Example mu plugs and ditchlights?
Not too difficult if you have some modelling skills.
Whoaaa!!! Where the hell did that whistle come from? Sounds nothing like the whistle on all the clips of 2860 I have watched on youtube, or the sound recordings I have on iTunes.
That is the whistle from 2816. It will not be the only whistle on the model.
rapidotrains Phew! Thank goodness! A nice model like this needs to have the right sound as well. Wasn't the correct whistle a Star Brass 5-chime?
I’m wiping my brow too. I just noticed these comments after putting my own down and sending rapido an email. Nice to see I’m not the only crazy one!
I think the should make the non streamlined version like the CP 2816
It is planned!
When are you guys going to produce a complete set of Maroon carriages for CP fans?
We hope to at some point!
SWEET! Cause I love the dome car I just have and as am a HUGE fan of the CPR and steam... Cant wait.
Looks terrific. Just saw the original at Squamish. BUT - where are the cars? This example here ran with either brass or excellent scratchbuilt cars, but let's face it, the Hudson will be running with non-matching cars if I buy it.
One thing at a time, Peter....
Hey Rapido how about doing a run of CP's Baldwin Diesels ? Specifically the DS 4-4-1000 and DRS 4-4-1000'S.
Bowser made a nice model of the CP Baldwin diesels in recent years so we're not looking at these at the moment.
Quick question. Are you going to release a 2860 model with the BC emblems on it, as well as the old Royal Hudson auxiliary tender from the 70s and 80s?
We are indeed making the touring 2860 model. Information is on our web site. We are not making the aux tender as it is completely different tooling.
I mean a rapido GEVo would be cool.
Glad you watched to the end! :-D
Wait a second... Rapido Trains doesn't make heavy weight cars! I am looking forward to a G3 Pacific.
Is this in George’s trains in markham because I can’t find any there
You can reserve it from any train store. They will arrive in second quarter 2019.
can we please get one in n scale pleeeaaasseee
Maybe one day!
Have you been to George’s trains before
I have a another idea can you make a Canadian national loging set a Canadian national steam engine 4 loging cars and a caboose. What is the price of the Hudson. You are the best.
Full Hudson information is here: www.rapidotrains.com/ho-scale-royal-hudson/
Do you have any more of the class U4bs
We don't have any U4bs but we like to listen to UB40... :-D
What is the coach directly behind the tender is it a coach or an engine and if so what is it called
That is a dynamometer car. Pretty appropriate seeing as this was a test run!
rapidotrains should have put a proper one from rapido behind it
@@Randallator966 Rapido could produce a dynamometer... But, what dyno' era should be produced? ...and from what road? Many roads had their own, testing steam and then diesel... Add another two varibles: 1. Canadian Locomotive Company and Montreal Locomotive Company had their own dynamometer... Then, as Rapido has built Canadian rolling stock, they also built U.S. rolling stock; 2. each road had unique dynamometers, plus half a dozen locomotive builders, to boot! Figure dozens of "one of a kind dyna's" to do research on.
Zebrails they already made a brilliant dyno coach
Question, what is the car being hauled directly behind the Hudson’s tender?
That is a Dynamometer Car.
Question, What is that unusual Car just behind the tender??
Dynamometer car
I might be just hearing stuff, but is there only two chuffs per rotation at high speeds?
The sample in the video has electronic chuff sync. We're adding a cam to ensure that the chuffs are always synced.
👍👏👌
Will the 2860's whistles be available as well?
Yes. The 2860 whistle will be included.
Make the H-1-B!
