Stumbled across your channel and was greeted by the sweet sound of the South. My grandparents were farmers to the core. Like you said, the "Traded" at the Piggly Wiggly for products they did not raise or grow. True 'organic' farmers. I have had the fortune to have sweet milk right from the cow and there is nothing better. The full body richness is velvet to the mouth. My grandparents had one enormous chest freezer for vegetables and one for meats! They even had a small fridge on the back porch just for cokes in a bottle, so they didn't have to come in for refreshments when working outside. Man, I miss that. Thank you for the walk down memory lane. And yep, we loved to drink buttermilk too!
Good morning, Jody! I so enjoyed your post. Thank you! In spite of how hard the farmers worked, those were truly good times. It's sad that so many children grow up today not knowing what real food tastes like. Have a great day!
Have not heard anyone say Sweet Milk since my granny passed. My family had some milk cows and a guy made rounds to all the farms every day to buy their extra milk.
Hey, Don! Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure whether my grandparents sold their extra milk, but my mother would get on their horse with a basket of eggs and ride to the store to trade for coffee, sugar, etc. I love those stories!

Excellent work as usual Nana!
Thanks so much, Raven!
