I recently ordered the (2015) Terminator (1984) Blu-ray, Ill be doing a updated comparison video once the Blu-ray arrives. thank you for all the feedback and thank you for watching!
The 2006 has a reddish hue,the quality is like an upscaled dvd, the 2013 Blu ray is what this 4k is from. The detail levels are still higher on 4k regardless of the edge enhancement because it's just a higher res master alone
You're comparing the WRONG Blu-ray for a start. The 4K UHD disc is quite literally just the 2013 2K remaster (which was released on Blu-ray) upscaled to 4K, with minor colour changes and an Xacto-knife blade added. You're comparing the old mid 00's Blu-ray. Compare the 2013 Blu-ray to the 4K. This is an insanely flawed video.
@dericjames2018 Allow me to clarify. This old Blu-ray is from a totally different scan/master. The remastered Blu-ray from 2013 onwards uses the same source as the 4K UHD - a 2K finished Lowry restoration which introduced a lot of teal into the mix. Therefore, if you are to compare the 4K fairly to a Blu, using the 2013 is correct and using the original Blu is wrong.
Looks nice, but the constant greenish tint is crap. The original movie was released with a blueish tint -- by intention. Why AI upsacling instead of rescanning the original that has all the contrast and details?
LPCM is uncompressed CD audio. The Terminator needs an enhanced edition with upgraded special effects - mainly the anamatronic Arnie head, stop motion and some of the projection screen backgrounds in the future war scenes. But it has to be done sympathetically so its consistent with the rest of the movie and not a load of jarring CGI.
I think the new 4K transfer looks amazing! Easily the best looking this movie has looked since it was in theaters. I had a friend over to watch it and, even though he is not a videophile, even he commented on how much cleaner it looked and better color. I have a mid-range 65" Sony LED TV, and it doesn't look dark at all, as others have mentioned.
Great unboxing Alex 😊 I still gotta check mine out but thanks for going through both and comparing them. I always love watching these videos 🍿 Guess I should watch mine and open it 😂
Anche qui in Italia i film in VHS costavano 120.000 lire fino al 1990, assolutamente molto cari, poi cominciarono ad uscire anche in edicola e i prezzi scesero a 35/40.000 lire.
If they used AI processing the answer is no. AI enhancement adds details that were never in the original film prints to begin with and the AI algorithms are notorious for getting confused and erasing textures because they're mistaken for "noise".
Depends on the AI model used and if it is strictly a VFX AI or an off the shelf one. If it's a trained model for this movie specifically. You don't get the confusion you would with say a GPT or Gemini. (i used those two as an example because they popped in to my head first)
If I’m being honest with myself, most of the time I upgrade from 2K to 4K Blu Ray it’s for new packaging (I.e. A steelbook or slipcover edition with better artwork.) Most of the time the difference in video quality is barely noticeable (if at all).
The terminator does have a couple blurays that differ in picture I wonder how you feel comparing both of those to the 4k 4k at time is far too dark The day time scenes was all good and color does pop but dare I say I like the bluray pic better At times 4k looked dull and but that reminds me of the grit of the vhs color Theres actually better bluray than that one
Unfair to compare against a copy made in the early days of Blu-ray with an old dated transfer, probably made years before the BD format. I'd like to se a recent Blu-ray made from the new scan/transfer that this 4K UHD disc was based on. This way we can see if the format brings any benefit detail wise over the old one.
I just purchased the latest 2015 remastered version of terminator. So I'll do a proper comparison on it once it comes in. Thank you for checking out the video
The Old Bluray from 2006 looks so much better, more naturaly! The new Colour-Grading it's so ugly/ greenish, not clearly!!! I come from Shithole-Germany😂😮, and here all Blurays are Shit! I have the Old MGM-Special-Edition from 2001 or 2002!?! It' s good, but my Mediabook from 2020( with the 2012-Remaster) is so Shiteeee🙄. I would the 2006 Bluray from USA, but i think , it's not codefree..... Greetings from SHITHOLE-Germany! Ps. I wish a good, new Year😎🤗

I’m the outlier. On every single one I strongly preferred the blu-ray overwhelmingly..

Remember when you got the blu-ray included with the 4K?
Unfortunately, the Terminator (1984) 4k doesn't come with the Blu-ray, only 4k and digital. Which sucks. Thanks for checking out the video 🖖
That is sadly a recent trend..

Not wrong Blu-ray since the original disc looks superior compared to the new disc...

this movie in 4K is mindblowing! if I could only keep 1 4K transfer its going to be this one!
4:20 a green sky? ok
Its shouldn't be a green sky. That's why I'm
Doing a proper review with the 2015 Blu-ray. Thanks for checking out the review
just watched yesterday..the dolby atmos mix really good, and the visua very pleasure to my eyes

4k transfer just looks darker
I thought that I was the only one! On this video I preferred the boy-ray every single time.
the movie looks better with the cold blue shifted colors. it fits the movie better and the era it comes from.
I actually prefer the Blu-ray. Which edition was it? The 2013 remaster?
I just ordered the 2015 version to do another video comparing the 4 K version to the 2015 remastered.
Thank you for checking out the video
Which one is the 2013 one?

Wow! Thanks for making this video. It makes me want to get the 4K version so bad because it looks so great and awesome!
You welcome. Thank you for checking out the video🖖
4K all the way!
It's outstanding work for 1984.
If you have a large 4K displays it's a must have!
blu-ray looks better.
Great unboxing Alex 😊 I still gotta check mine out but thanks for going through both and comparing them. I always love watching these videos 🍿

Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it! 👍
I Think the Blu Ray looks much better
Fun story (well, maybe not)… I bought Terminator on VHS when it first came out for… $99.99!!! Yup, that’s how much they cost back then.
Damn that’s a lot lol
I bought one too, with the hologram in the middle of the huge front cover?

The Blu ray looks INFINITELY better than the 4k "TEAL ray".
I dont like the teal tint.
Am I watching The Terminator or The Matrix...?

Yes....yes you should.
I upgraded cuz I buy every version of T1/T2 cuz I’m a moron like that 😂
But no seriously I love the first 2 films
Thanks for checking out the video. You not a moron u don't want to know how many Copys of John wick and Ghostbusters I have lmao lmao
Blu-ray looks better, jmo

Way too much ai oversharpening and that green tint, doesn't look good.
worth it for like $25

Mine wasn't too dark in any scene. I have an lgc1 77 and turn off tpc with the color control app.
@mexdrago3009 hmmm cool
I got the steelbook.
I would love to have that steelbook. But at those prices I opted out for the regular edition.

The 4K is trash, AI bullshit. Blu-ray looks much better and more natural and brighter despite not having HDR...
I liked the transfer and it looked great on my OLED
Yes, overall Green and not clear😮

Thank you so much. Happy New Year to you, too!
I have the old one and it plays back fine on my region B blu ray player.
It's all a scam DVD is better
