    Ronin Warriors, known in Japan as Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers (鎧伝サムライトルーパー, Yoroiden Samurai Torūpā), is a Japanese anime series created by Hajime Yatate and animated by Sunrise somewhat riding the popularity of Saint Seiya.
    Ronin Warriors first aired on American television during the summer of 1995 and subsequently appeared through syndication, as well as the USA Network and later on Cartoon Network as part of Toonami.
    Besides being known as Ronin Warriors, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers and Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers in some parts of the world it was known as Samurai Warriors

      * Avoiding "hi Mark" joke *
      To the point: this happens to me with a show I barely remember, it was Japanese, futuristic but the characters had two traits very notorious: they used swords (katanas, maybe) and in the ending, all the protagonists were shown with their capes on a very exaggerated way. I don't even remember its name, I was 6-8 years old and was aired in a Mexican TV channel.

It didn't help it was done by good old DIC who gave it pretty much the same exact treatment they did to sailor Moon except over a decade later and it flopped about as well as I would have expected at least here in the US. Ronin Warriors was my first time watching a true anime series from start to finish. Cartoons were all one offs. I had never seen a series actually end. I cried watching the last episode.
    Samurai Troopers got a great BluRay release. You have no idea how much detail is lost in the dark colors until you see the BluRay. I would love for the states to get a BlueRay of the show, but then the dub would not fit. I loved the Ocean Groups take on Ronin Warriors. The dub cut some footage, and added new sound FX. I do have faith that a company like DiscoTeck could find away around that. They fixed the English dubs the Street Fighter II anime to fit with the Japanese music and format.

    Huge props to Toonami for airing this show for as long as they did. It was one of the first anime series I started watching regularly along with Dragonball Z. I know the action isn’t necessarily the best but the visual styles are fantastic from the armors of all the Ronin Warriors and the warlords to the gigantic gates and castles of the netherworld. And they knew how to up the drama at times. One episode had Talpa capture all of the Ronin Warriors inside his armor except for Ryo. Ryo was almost forced to strike down Talpa and all of his friends with him! (Thank goodness for that Inferno armor a little later on)

    I loved Samurai Warriors (In Brazil this was the name) as a kid (I still have all the anime chapters on my HD :X). I had the luck to have the waves of the figures as a kid. In Brazil they broadcasted Samurai Warriors at the same time with Saint Seiya and some VA of Saint Seiya made Samurai Warriors charactes (Hector and Seiya were made by the same actor btw, almost the same cast was used in both animes) and this helped to launch the anime.

It came on so early where I lived I finally ended up setting up a VCR to tape the episodes and would watch them later. And for years my only access to this show were those tapes(starting around episode 3) and with only half the finale (the station messed up and was fading on and off the air for about half the episode). I was so happy when it aired on cartoon network and I could finally watch all of the last episode lol.

    I just asked about this.
    I love Robin warriors. Even tho, a lot of the footage was reused in a lot of episodes. It's a show where you can get into all the characters. All the heroes are pretty likeable, which makes it hard to have a "favorite". Sucks we never got a video games for it. The OVAs are really good too.

    • @ScottKenny1978
      @ScottKenny1978 3 роки тому

      That was a flaw of a lot of 1980s cartoons. The cost of a making a half hour cartoon was (IIRC) $125,000, but people were only willing to pay $100k an episode. So they had to reuse a *lot* of footage to make the shows. That's 1/5 the total time, in fact. Run 8 minutes of ads so you only need to make 22 minutes of animation instead of 25, make a minute long opening and closing so you're down to 20 minutes per episode, and you can probably get away with only 2-3 minutes, max, of stock footage.
