Just changed the air intake hose on my 2015 pilot. Like seeing older versions also good video!
You the Man! Just note, sometimes you can use Allen wrenches in Torx and vise versa. They’ve saved me in a pinch.

This literally happened after I just went in to get the starter fixed as an option. I had them also do the timing belt. I had no problems with my motor. I also had them do the differential feed fluids as they recommended I blame pool workmanship.

Very well done video. Thank you. Mine revs up and down after I cleaned up the throttle body. I tried following the Idle Learning Procedure, but as soon as the fans turn on ( and coolant reaches 197F) , it starts revving up and down again. I did not clean the air control valve or the EGR valve. I will do the air control valve next

Very impressive video, A to Z very accurate, this will help me as a mechanic. Am A mechanic I just finished doing oil change and transmission refill, also power steering fluid refill, on a Honda pilot 2004, after the whole job I drove the car round just of a sudden the VTM-4 Light came on that the wheel began to Trag pls what do you think could be the cause, could it be the air control valve like you did in this video or could it be the axle fluid, pls help me out. Can a bad idle control valve make brake to drag or stiff on honda pilot 2004, the brake was dragging and when check the back calipers where bad, I changed the two back caliper and bled the air out of the system, now the front right leg begin to drag, and the brake pedal makes some hissing sound when press like air in the system and the brake pedal begin to go hard, and the brake gets stiff more at reverse, what is your professional advice pls?

I just bought a Honda Pilot 2005, 190k miles, just realized the check engine light is on and VTM-4 seems to light up occasionally. Been checking UA-cam, going to check tire pressure and gas cap, then going to AutoZone for a scan. I'm retired and definitely not a mechanic but watched your whole video (even though I know I would never attempt what you did), was very impressed. Not sure if you are a mechanic by trade but would hire you in a minute to work on mine. I feel I'll be looking for a mechanic soon. Wish you lived in Ohio and sincerely wish you continued success!!!
What was the fix for you. I have exactly same problem
@@Calvin-oh4yf the scan showed the EGR needed replaced, sadly went to a mobile mechanic 2 weeks ago, basically he's attempted to fix it at least 3 times, it just came on again today, taking for another scan tomorrow to see if it's the same issue, if so, asking for another mechanic to come out and check the previous guy's work, at this point not sure if it's the mechanic or ??? will let you know, let me know if you find out anything please...

@@bromosapien3688 Supposedly it was the intake manifold needed cleaning from carbon build up, the EGR was deemed good after being replaced by the mobile mechanic. Funny thing was after getting it back, the VSA light was on, the guy said was probably a solenoid(sic), $300.00 to replace. It hadn't ever been on so took to another mechanic; he said the guy had probably had it off the ground and had tripped a sensor, took him less than 5mins to clear to sensor, hasn't been back on and didn't even charge me. Will be going to him from now on... lol
My 2006 Honda Pilot had a VTM-4 light and check engine light come on. Also heard a noise that would increase and decrease whenever I would press and depress the gas pedal. Engine would shake and struggle over the course of 10-15 minutes. Then other lights started to come on like the engine oil light. From there I pulled over and had it towed back home.
Could this be the same issue you were having?
If is shakes it might be the motor mounts.
Yah, it's pretty common for the 1st gen but it's easy fix 👍

Would this be helpful for my 2005 Honda Pilot same issue?
The vidoe should not work on 2005 and newer Honda Pilot becaue it moved to electronic throttle body since 2005 so it has no idle air control valve. I think the idle air is controlled by the throttle body itself.
Do you have the same code P0505? If you do, maybe you can try to clean the throttle body with throttle body cleaning, and a toothbrush to remove carbon build up inside the throttle body to see if that help.

Instead of messing with throttle cables I took it off and used a hanger to support it. Also my 2004 engine made a clunk when in gear it was the motor mounts. Now it's smooth and a 1000% different.
Was it really necessary to remove the whole throttle body
You can try to remove the idle air control valve without remove the throttle body. If you can do that, don’t lose the gasket
The screws on my idle air control valve were really tight, I cannot get enough grip on the tool to break loose the screws, and I want to ensure I put everything back together properly, so I removed the throttle body with the idle air control valve to finish the work is better for me

What did the loud noise sounds like? Popping, knocking, or etc...
I think you should use an OBD reader to check what cause the check engine light. If the check engine light related to misfire, emission, or something can cause reduce engine power. It could cause the VTM light also. Hope that help
@@ezauto1911 rumbling I would say. Also the cold air system doesnt work on the car even after putting gas. The cars tachometer wasn't stable like if it was losing power. even after having the cruise control it would keep moving.

If it's a clunk sound when putting it in gear or accelerating quickly on mine it was the motor mounts now it's like a new smooth vehicle. Mine is a 2004

What part of this video deals with VTM-4?
Malfunction engine idle air control valve. It caused my Pilot had unstable idle rpm after the engine was warm-up. Then the unstable rpm caused the VTM-4 light turned on. After I cleaned the valve, and reset check engine light, my Pilot runs fine in the past couple months
