Thank you for this video. It was very helpful. This is the first piece of large equipment I bought from tractor supply, and I don’t think I will ever buy from there again. I’ve had bolts break in half, there was so much rust and dirt on the PTO shaft, etc. It just seemed very, Very old and it made it much more difficult to put together. Not to mention, the bolts were tightened way too much. Your video definitely helped me get ir pur together, though. Thanks
So sorry you had a similar experience to mine; sounds like maybe worse. Glad my video helped you though. Thanks for your comments and for watching. I appreciate it.
Very informative for me, being a total Nube! I’m still getting used to my new Kioti 2620. I’ve done mostly dirt work, but I have my eye on this cutter for the extreme weeds we get in wet seasons. I need to watch someone do the job I’m needing to do, versus just reading the instructions. I’m glad I found your channel. God Bless!
So glad you found this helpful. I have another video of this in action, if you haven't seen it yet. ua-cam.com/video/XdE2F-7C0hw/v-deo.htmlsi=j7PAw8bHLUfX88Ud Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
So thankful! I thought I was just an old man when I couldn't understand bolts!! Didn't have that big of wrench/socket either, but..! Mine too, was the "last they had", and they didn't know they had it!? BTW, the didn't even know (I knew) it needed 80-90 gear oil?! Thanks, I have it now...
The whole time I was putting it together, I was worried I should have spent more $$. But, I've used (and slightly abused, as you've ssen in my other videos) it a few times now and it's worked well. It does what it's meant to do without complaining. Thanks for watching and for sharing. We're not old; just "seasoned". 😉 Have a fantastic day.
Do your self a favor and get a slip clutch for your tractor. If you have a mahindra tractor with the electronic PTO , you will go through shear bolts like crazy. You can put a slip clutch directly on you tractor with simple modification to the top link connector.
Thanks for the good advice. I haven't broken another bolt since that first time of use when I was creating the meadow. That was my fault for trying to cut small trees that were 2+ inches accros. It's just not made for that. Last two times I used it, it worked perfectly. I'll keep your suggestion in mind for the future though. Sounds like a good pro tip. Thanks for watching and for your support. Have a fantastic day.
I had to buy a socket to tighten the lower 3 point hook up. After using it and was taking it off for the season I noticed one was just about ready to fall off. I used a crescent wrench the first time because I didn't have big enough socket or wrench. So I also used an air impact gun with loc tight. They must have so many different variations of their mowers because mine is a little different than yours being the same size
There are 3 holes with tabs inside that you have to press hard to release by pressing in thru the holes. I used needle nosed plies to do it, but it is a pain in the real. I wrestle every time too. I now just leave the collar that connects to the tractor slid back; I don't lock it back in place. I know it's a safety thing, but my 3 point shaft has a protective metal box around it, so hopefully that's safety enough. Let me know if you find a trick that works to more easily release these. Poor design I'd say.
Great question. There are holes in place to add a rock chain guard, but after checking around just now, I couldn't find one made specifically by the manufacturer of this rotary cutter. I thought at the time I bought it that this was an option from TractorSupply, but can't find it now. There are several available that should fit, but they may not line up with existing holes, requiring you drill some to make aftermarket chains fit. Sorry I couldn't help with this one. I haven't actually had a need for the guard yet for where I use the cutter.. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
On the gear box.. The lower nut that you removed and wait for the oil to come out and then put the nut back in. Do you stop there and put the top nut back in or keep filling up to the top nut?
Once the gear oil starts to come out, you stop there and then put both nuts back. Having this type of setup is common on gearboxes in place of a dip stick. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
@tartertv @tractorsupply Please watch this video for feedback about my experience with your product condition and assembly. Hopefully, this is not your customers' typical experience and impression.
Here's a short I created about it -- ua-cam.com/users/shortsg-UEd3cPw_k?feature=share You can find a link to where you can buy it from my website-- twc-projects.net/amazon-store Thanks for watching and for your comments.
There are two very important things you failed to do. Just behind the top link are two short arms that bolt to the longer arms. That is a hinge to allow the whole deck to follow the lay of the land. So those bolts can't be completely tight. Most important is that you didn't separate the sections of the PTO and apply grease so it will telescope easily. And you didn't measure to see if you had to shorten the PTO shaft. If it's too long it can drive the PTO shaft on the tractor back into the differential case. If that happens it will be a multi thousand dollar repair. There are videos on UA-cam to show you how to shorten the PTO shaft.
Thanks so much for all your helpful comments. I'll check the things you mentioned this weekend when I use it again. I've used it 3 or 4 times now for a few hours each time, and it's worked great, no issues other than breaking a few shear bolts trying to cut stuff that was too large. I did grease the shaft the 1st time I used it, following this video. But I'll go back and look at the manual, because I was confident it specifically said to tighten all bolts. What you said makes sense though, so I'll check it out. Thanks for watching. I appreciate you looking out for me. Have a fantastic day.
Thanks. And yup, even I felt like it was too much talking when I edited it. Been working on that in videos since. Don't always get it right, but always learning. :) Thanks for watching. Have a fantastic day.
Thanks for the video! I just bought the same cutter and was looking for a quick way to figure out how to set it up! This was perfect!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep an eye on those to be sure they aren't loosening up. And thanks for watching. Have a great day.
Any tricks to get the plastic cuffs to slide down? I’ve been wrestling with them sun of guns all morning.

Where do you get the rock chain guards for the county line mower?
