This time, since he loved Jimin so much in the first installment of our mini Mark series, I switched from my original plan of showing him "Butter" and a Jungkook solo single to the 'On' Kinetic Manifesto and 'Black Swan'!

The Black Swan video was filmed at the Los Angeles Theatre.And the ON :Kinetic manifesto was the 1st video of theirs I ever watched,I was hooked within the first few seconds.Jimin became my bias from the moment he started singing and dancing.I could not take my eyes off of him.I seriously had to remind myself that their are 6 other members I needed to watch and listen to.😂

FYI - Black Swan (released 1/17/2020) and ON (released 2/21/2020) are both from the same era and same album (Map of the Soul: 7). They promoted them both in 2020 before the pandemic hit. They had more releases after this before 2021. Their original Japanese song - Stay Gold (released June 26, 2020), and Japanese Album - Map of the Soul: The Journey (released July 14, 2020), Dynamite (released 8/20/2020), and their BE album (released 11/20/2020). Just sayin' BUTTER was released (5/21/2021)
Just to clarify more - Black Swan was a prelease track for Map of the Soul 7 so the song itself was released before ON on Jan 17 2020. The track was released and also the Art film performed by the MN Dance Company. The first performance was on James Corden Jan 28, 2020. So all just right before the pandemic as part of the promotions for MOTS7 release Feb 21st with ON as the title track. So it is only the MV for Black Swan that came out after ON.

@@rendalayThank you, I got the date wrong, I edited the date that Black Swan MV was released. I corrected it in my post. I am aware of the promotions and performances for Black Swan, because it was the song I fell in love with and became ARMY 💜 But it wasn't until months after the release. I was just trying to point out to Brooke that the release dates of ON and Black Swan were not a year apart, and from different eras. She was telling him that they were a year apart. And they released a lot of amazing music in 2020 before releasing Butter on May 21, 2021. But thanks for correcting me.💜

I love how you are reacting to, "ON." They do such clean and intricate transitions in choreography, in editing, in vocal handoffs, and even the cameras have their own interactive choreography that perfectly meshes, especially the spinning overhead drone shot. 😂 The cinematography then takes the MV to another level. Then the whole world stops to listen to JK's solo. 🥰

More reaction videos with Mark, he's so expressive! He comments on BTSs facial expressions, but his own are fantastic! I would love to see Mark's reaction to older videos like Not Today and Fire, but I would really love to see his reaction to the chapter 2 solos.
I watched Mark's reaction in the previous video and it's so satisfying to watch an artist who knows how to praise and admire the work of others without being jealous or bad comments and Mark did that and with great sincerity, and Brooke you are great at what you do, giving all the right information about the boys to the guests who make the reaction, so that they understand and are aware of who BTS are, thank you for the reaction to my bangtan boys.
you should definitely shoow him some live performances! solo performances I love are J-hope's lalapalooza set, Jimin's serendipity, early tokio performance of attack on bangtan (to showcase their youth when they perform and just pure energy), and pied piper (just also a super great song). There's a lot of diversity in their music that you can see through their performances as well, and they really come alive on the stage.
Mark conveys his enthusiasm so much that it's a real treat to watch, I reacted in the same way as him when I discovered this legendary group and it's good to see this joyful freshness in his reactions. most of the reactions from other youtube channels are quite bland but Mark brings a lot of cheerfulness, a bit like the bubbles in a good champagne, as an Army it's a real joy to watch his reactions I hope that there will be many more!

Black Swan was filmed at The Los Angeles Theater. ON was filmed at The Sepulveda Dam near LA.
I cannot say how much I loved and NEEDED this. For myself, I have been very down and sad missing the members and worried about them. Hi I am back. Good reaction, ty. Both of these songs deserve to be in the billions i say! They are just that good. This one has beautiful deep meaning of their lyrics. As you notice like lines " It would be my first death. That's what I'm afraid of ." It has that emotional theme of an artist fear for losing their passion for what they do. With this song BTS dives deep into their inner selves as artists and faces the shadows they had once hidden. The song lends voice to their fears that one day music will no longer be able to move or touch them. The very moment they come face to face with the ‘Black Swan’ within themselves, however, they are stricken with a paradoxical realization that music is all they have. It is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself. It's also inspired from Martha Graham, who said “A dancer dies twice once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful.” With the band on a break from group work and focusing more on solo projects (solo albums). Black Swan ballet: changing from white to black swan - growing up, losing innocence.
Black Swan movie - sacrificing mental and physical health to reach the top.
Shadow/mirror images - self reflection.
Black Swan: Mainly written by RM, the one you like, is about their fears of losing all passion for music, either writing it or performing on stage. It's also based on a quote by Martha Graham who was an important figure in the world of modern dance, "A dancer dies twice. Once when they stop dancing and this death is more painful." They've been doing this for a long time now and for some of them it's all they've ever done from a young age but realized music is their life.

Fun fact: Before BTS began doing it, it wasn't normal at all for Korean idol groups to release songs with deeper meanings, discuss serious topics in their songs, acknowledge issues of vulnerability like burnout, depression or mental illness. It wasn't normal for idols to open up about their personal troubles at all. In fact, doing so got some idols thrown out of their companies. It was also not normal or common to have a running storyline/theme that is carried through multiple albums and/or MVs and songs. But BTS did it all so successfully, and broke those stigmas, to the point that now many other Korean idol groups have started trying to do those things, with varying degrees of sincerity and success.
This song, its lyrics and MV are part of the "Shadow" portion of BTS's Map of the Soul era, in which they released albums and songs based on Carl Jung's theories regarding the Persona, Shadow, and Ego. This track is an exploration of their "shadow" selves' fear that they may someday lose their passion for their art - they ask if perhaps they are already losing it- and they wonder what comes after that "first death" of the loss of passion. In the end, they continue to fight for their passion and their art, claiming they won't be swept away by these fears again. I would encourage you to think about how counter-cultural BTS is being in songs like this: Not only are they dealing with topics that were taboo only a few years ago, but they're being unbelievably personally vulnerable, sincere and open. This is why we love them so much, and I'm sure you will, too! 💜
Example: A couple of weeks ago Jimmy Fallon had BTS on his late night show. They performed a song called Idol at This Idol performance at Gyeongbokgung Palace as a background and wearing hanboks. Some of my favorite reactions is when reactors introduce their friends and family to BTS. I hope to see him watch Taylor Mari’s Guide someday. I have seen “Black Swan” countless times and I guess I’m so shallow that I never thought about the guys expressions when they are in the staircase. I liked his take on it.

Yes please, MORE Mark reacting to BTS! We Armys LOVE genuine reactions. I’m a 74 year old American woman who has been living in Europe for 35 years, the last 26 with my Swedish husband in Sweden. But I grew up in San Diego and traveled frequently to LA to appreciate musicals (Hair, Jesus Christ Super Star, Chorus Line…). Oh, and I grew up at Disneyland. My first visit was when I was seven, less than a year after Disneyland opened. From the time I was 13 until I was in my 30’s, I visited Disneyland at least once every year. My last visit (so far ☺️) was to Euro Disney in France in 2004 with my husband’s daughter and granddaughter, although I had been there the year before with my husband’s sister and her three daughters. I can assure you that Disneyland Paris is exactly as wonderful as Disneyland Los Angeles, except for the additional French custom of wine served in the restaurants, which can ameliorate the long lines quite marvelously!
