Aww yea finally some numbers from Rising Tide. Thanks! Been following your vids since Sunbreak for your amazing Switchaxe builds and glad we got MHNow to tide us over until MH6.
Wow what an easy-to-understand & informative video! This is exactly what I needed after many failed attempts to calculate attack increase for each skill. Thank you for this!! You’re amazing and hope you keep up the great content
Glad to see Rising Tide get some love, but I'd like to ask what you think/experienced on the "Offensive Guard" skill? I haven't seen much guides/builds so far regarding it.. Doesn't it give a pretty decent attack% increase?
if it is not based on %, it probably bad in the long run. Once your base becomes high enough, a flat increase of 30 is very little considering that having this gear might have you give up elemental atk and/or critical eyes/sneak atk from other gear otherwise. I bet in the long run, no one set is gonna substantially outperform another, best practice is likely to stick to the set you have, on some patches you'll be ahead and down on the other patches, avg of these changes will likely net you an avg gameplay. Of course, you can grind and pay your way into having all the sets, then every patch matter to you.
True but you have to get a Very high base attack in the first place..for me as SnS player, rising tides is MASSIVE even in ☆6 range. The skill along with peak performance and Burst is Massove for my build.
@@xuyan3377 no, when i was still in 6☆, i only went for raw damage boost instead of affinity. I stopped when i reached HR100 last month tho, i dont want to invest too much time in a mobile game when i have world and rise on portable console or home console
Nice!! Great to get the full scope and numbers on how good it is! I just cleared my Rathalos Urgent today. If I can recall correctly there may have been 2 pieces of armor with the rising tide skill. But I guess overgrade’ing the Jagras chest to unlock lv2 if the skill is a no brained for now. If I can ask a drill down question- This skill only effects the raw attack portion of a weapon and in no way effects elemental damage? I’ve been using mostly elemental bow now and it feels like it still helps a lot. Maybe because of the multiple arrows on spread and rapid types?
It seems element is actually quite different in this game. Element is good, but not at all for the same reasons as in ordinary monster hunter. Based on what I'd heard, when a monster is weak to an element the element damage is simply added to your total attack stat to make one number. So say you have a 500 attack weapon with 250 element and you fight a monster weak to it. Your attacks are basically treated as if you had 750 attack. So if you are matching up element, it ends up being a matter of whatever gives the most element or attack. This also means element is not separated for crits in this game.
Awesome video, yeah im gonna try to get the jagras mail and coil to get 3 levels in rising tide. also I might think about getting a anjanath weapon as a possible weapon to use because all of them also have the rising tide skill. i don't know how good 4 levels in rising tide is but going by level 1 im hopeful it would be breaken too.
Thank you for the really informative video. As a LS user, I've noticed a huge increase in damage output with Jagras Mail 6. My builds focus on prioritizing elemental attack > raw attack > % boosts to amplify everything. That typically looks like Rath helm, Jagras mail, Rathian gloves, Jagras waist, and Anja leggings. With this core build, I focus on breaking whatever the weakest monster part is and leverage that opening to proc Burst. Around that time is usually when the first RT boost kicks in, and the monster's health just starts melting away. Then just keep spirit gauge full and hit the special move right after the second tier of RT kicks in and that usually chunks 1/4+ of the health bar. I'm currently on 6* monsters with G4/5 armor and the game currently feels too easy with this build.
In the 6 star range this works really well. Even moving into 7 star I’d say. Flat amounts are really good and affinity is only great when the skill gives a large amount right now. Eventually I think rathalos mail does overtake Jagras once your attack is high enough. But the Jagras waist stays competitive even against pink rathian.
This is the armor set that's been great for me currently entering 5* Armor: Barroth head (for the defense boost and offense guard) Great Jagras body (for the rising tide) Rathian arms (mainly for the burst, lock on is just a bonus for me) Paolumu waist (divine blessing obviously) Kulu-ya-ku legs (and critical eye) Weapons: Great Girros (for the paralysis) or legiana (for the second divine blessing) Sw&Sh I'm mostly focus on high damage output but I'm looking into black diablos resentment ability since I'm already experienced with it in MHR)
I have yet to have spare resources to try more points. Agree though, there's trends for linear and diminishing returns so it's hard to tell without trying.
Hey there, finally got around to making the Jagras waist to see level 2. Seems like it’s 50 attack after 25s and 100 attack after 50s so it’s not linear. No idea on level 3.
Can you test sneak attack? Sneak attack will boost your damage by 10% (level 1) for weapon that can give big damage at one attack like gs, also I wonder what happen if I combine it with sp skill damage boost from anjanath mail
Hey there, finally got around to making the Jagras waist to see level 2. Seems like it’s 50 attack after 25s and 100 attack after 50s so it’s not linear not still decent!
It’s awesome at level 2 and higher. Also one of the fire swords or bow I think has rising tide as well. Making it easily edge out weakness exploit since with that you have to hit a weak area to benefit where rising tide is raw everywhere
Hey! Not quite. The flat attack provided isn’t a “every hit gets 30 more damage” it’s 30 extra attack stat which is used to determine how much damage you do. So the benefit should be equivalent between different weapons.
If you take full 75s to hunt a monster, rising tide 1 is equivalent to +28 attack for the length of the hunt. For early game, I'd honestly just stick to the leather chest unless your hunts are taking a while. edit: (its +30 average i have no clue where i pulled 28 from)
@@AifritGaming You are absolutely right it does average to 30. I have no idea where I pulled 28 from, I think it was like 28.33 for some specific time taken. My bad
is weakness exploit even that great? in this game it's a five tier skill rather than 3 and only has 10% more affinity than critical eye, besides only working on the monster's weakest parts, i don't really get it
The first point is pretty good giving 20% but the follow points are much worse. It gets even better in the late game because weapons start getting very high attack values. In the long run, it should roughly provide a 5% damage increase overall. Obviously there's variance, sometimes you'll never crit sometimes you'll crit a lot. So if you look at it at a high level you can compare it to the value of 5% of your current attack (you can calculate this by multiplying 25 by the affinity which in this case is 20% so 0.2). If you're using element add the attack and element together then take 5%.
Dont different monsters have unique hitzone? so hitting baroth and kuku in the head with the same builds should do different amounts of damage making a test of different skills and weapons be even more inaccurate?
hey i founded a bug wiht drgaon heart and dragon conversion on switch axe, when the first one activates despite getting more stats, u deal way less dmg
Actually I think this is expected! When you contract dragonblight all your element damage is 0 except for dragon. So if you use a dragon weapon the damage might go up if you have a lot of dragonheart.
People really get confused mostly on ranks and breaking parts. This doesnt correlate to item drops, those are pure RNG. And breaking wings wont give you a wing it may give you anything.
By the time you get weakness exploit it should be better overall since your attack should be high enough with a raw focused weapon. However, it is possible to use both since second point of wex is way worse.

Glad to see Rising Tide get some love, but I'd like to ask what you think/experienced on the "Offensive Guard" skill? I haven't seen much guides/builds so far regarding it.. Doesn't it give a pretty decent attack% increase?
I’ve not played enough sword and shield to give it a try. In other games it has been a % increase yeah.
can offensive guard work on GS shoulderbash ?
