I watched the trickier parts at half speed playback and it really is simple-thank you! Got through the first 150 yards today. This blanket is gonna be a favorite for sure 😍
I like the name of this stitch and how beautiful it looks. I have a good friend who is a fisherman and I just might take joy in creating one for him. LIFE IS GREAT WITH CROCHETING! Thanks for your excellent tutorial!!
Great tutorial! I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick yarn in “Fisherman” and a 15 mm hook. I am so happy with the end result. I made two other throws with this yarn using a different stitch and although they were nice, they weren’t as soft and supple as this one. The edges on this throw also come out even, which isn’t always the case when having to count stitches. So, thank you for introducing me to my new ‘go to’ stitch for future projects!
Could you please tell me how many skins or yards did you use to make the blanket and also the blanket s size, since i have several skins of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick and wonder what to do with them? :)
LOL I get a few comments like this - someone asked once if I knit - which I do and she said that is probably why I yarn over like that - made sense :).
You are so welcome! This is a great pattern for trying different yarns i haven't tried on yet that i don't love. The nails are press on 😉Would love if they were my own. HAPPY THURSDAY!
You’re very welcome that was actually a recommendation from one of the viewers so I’m so glad that they said to do it :-) and I’m so glad you found it helpful
I'm super exited to begin this tutorial as I have been looking for the perfect fisherman stich to follow and yours is so very well explained so thank you for inspiring me to get going on it.
Starting this with Loops and Threads Charisma tweed yarn! Seems to be the most similar to the discontinued big tweed yarn that I could find. It's looking really cute so far. Thanks for sharing this pattern!
That sounds great! If it’s the worsted weight, I did another UA-cam video using two strands held together was super cosy but if you’re happy with the way, it’s turning out that’s fantastic and you are very welcome 🤗
When i did this stitch for a project a while ago i closed up by sc in top of the dc from pevious stitch and then dc in top of dc from row below, i felt that i followed along with the rest of the pattern a bit better then! I do love this stitch though, its one of those you can do while watching a film because you don't need to be watching or counting constantly.
thanks so much for being here! Great to hear that you found a way to close up your stitches and follow the pattern more easily! It sounds like it would work really well! I agree with you that this stitch is perfect for multitasking and working on while watching a film. I always try to work on my bigger projects when i find a good show to binge :). HAPPY WEEKEND!
Thank you! That is a wonderful pattern! I will definitely be using your tutorial. BTW, what you instructed on the fringe was an epiphany for me! No wonder I have so many lengths of yarn when I wrap around an object. It never occurred to me that just keeping the wrap flat and one layer would make a difference! Thank you so much for that tidbit!
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this. I really love the pattern! The only thing I would add is just at the end of every row, show us what it looks like across before and after you turn the work. I can’t see what it looks like/make sure I’m doing it right because your hands are in the way. Just my little two cents, which is all that it’s worth! Thank you again for sharing this, it’s a gorgeous pattern.
That's great feedback! I will definitely keep that in mind. I noticed that in a few of my other videos as i was watching and now I try to remember to lift the stitches up to the camera so people can see exactly where I am working. If you are having trouble still please feel free to send me a photo at cyprianne@prettydarnadorable.com and I can have a look. Thanks again for taking the time to point this out :)
BEAUTIFUL!!!! I will starting one of these today!!! Love it!💜💜 Let us know how your velvet one gets. I have a lot of velvet yarn but don’t know what to do with it. People say velvet yarn WORMS after a while. Thank you for this pattern of this cozy, comfy looking blanket!! 💜💜🥰🥰
Hi Carol - so happy you like it! This really is my favourite blanket at home I actually had to stop using it because it will getting so worn. I have heard the same about the velvet - I have a friend who knits and she told me it didn't last long - which is making me think I might make something small perhaps an ear warmer that will get lots of use and see who it goes. I bought four colours to use so I hope it wears well!
Do you have a video or information on what is worsted yarn? we have all ply in australia and I don't understand worsted/ and weights? Thanks for the video it is so helpful and you explain the stitches and steps slowly and clearly I love that.
So sorry for the long response - I have been updating the pattern using two strands of ww together it is beautiful and really plush. You will need to double up the amount too. I will be doing up a video in the next few weeks I am hoping.
Thanks so much I'm actually going to be updating this video using worsted wait yarn, so I will definitely provide those photos when I redo the video. Thanks for the feedback it's always really appreciated.
Tried following along with the video and I some how wound up with two separate rows building off the foundation chain, I’m going to frog it and try again, but really do hope that I can figure it out soon because I have such beautiful yarn that would look great in this stitch
Usually when people end up with two rows, it’s because they are working behind the chain one stitch instead of in front of it watch very carefully as I do it you can send me a photo to cyprianne@prettydarnadorable.com and I can have a look for you
How many stitches are in row 2 and up for your practice piece. I changed 12,row 1 ended up with 6 stitches. 2 with 7 stitches and 3 ended up with 8. I've watched the video half a dozen times and it keeps happening to me so I'm missing something cuz I'm sure it's not supposed to increase by stitch for each line. Can you help me out?
So sorry for the long reply - a 8mm works great and I will include a direct link to the chart here. www.prettydarnadorable.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/blanketmeasurements.pdf
Any bulky yarn will work great even this is a worsted weight it's a pretty thin worsted. You could also go up to Super Bowl key but go up and hook size as well and the texture will just be larger and so will your blanket. Hope this helps
M trying to download the blanket sizing chart. On the screen the chart has this huge pink design over most of the chart. It says download now. It then says sign up to download and I do that and than tells me it will be on my email to download, never shows up. I try again and same.
@@prettydarnadorable Not n junk mail. I decided to buy the ad free from Etsy and I put in basket and again it won’t follow thru. Love the pattern but getting a little frustrated. It’s beautiful.
Absolutely! It would be beautiful in that! Go up to a 12-15mm hook though and just chain till you get the length you need. I would do up a swatch to see if you like the drape of the fabric with the hook you have chosen! Thanks for being here!
I have never seen anyone hold the thread the way you do. I wish that I could change the way I hold mine. I didn’t care for the look of the crochet hook it distracted me.
Hey Marie keep trying to change I changed the way I held my hook years ago best thing I did. Also thank you for the feedback on the hook. Funny I was watching a knitting tutorial the other days and got distracted by pretty nails so I totally know what you mean.
thanks for your feedback :). If you are an absolute beginner the videos that say Absolute Beginner move much slower. I put this as Easy so people who know the stitches will have success - the pattern is free on my blog and beginner as the stitches are quite easy. I hope you have a chance to try it. Happy New Year!

Yes - I would use something like Bernat Blanket I feel like that yarn is indestructible !

Completed two (2) blankets in the Lion Brand Hometown Chicago Charcoal. Beautiful weighted blanket.
Hi I am new at crocheting and I was wondering how many yards it would take to make a throw size
Hi Dianna - this one is a throw :)
Ok@@prettydarnadorable
Is it 4 or 5
It is a thick 4 - I know that isn't much help but this yarn has since been discontinued so i recommend a 5 or doubling up.

Why is it necessary to use such a large number hook?
I like the stitch but I don't get it
Because it is fast and makes for beautiful drape. You can absolutely use any hook size you want :)
Can I use a 6 bulky on this
