    This was a different kind of essentials list, and I appreciated that! I agree that the RoadID is a must.

    Great info! It's funny how much of the same gear we share in common.
    1. Flipbelt: I use the Nathan VaporKrar Waist Pack with soft flask (use for mid distance runs and perfect for phone, gels, and flask). Same concept as flipbelt.
    2. I have the same Nathan handheld...perfect fit, I agree!
    3. Road ID...I need to make this happen. GREAT IDEA!
    4. Surviveware...I will check this out. Great item to keep in my vehicle.
    5. Roller: I use a similar item for rolling, but with no foam cover.
    6. Dry Bag: I just bought the same exact dry bags for my race in January (mine are orange). QUALITY BAGS and great price if your looking for drop bags!
    7. Bins: I use 2 totes with lids for my jeep that measure 24"x18"x7...everything is ready to go!
    8. Gators: I have never used gators before...research time.
    9. Headlamp: I use the PETZL - REACTIK+ Headlamp, 300 Lumens. Love this thing!
    10. Running Vest: I use the Salomon ADV Skin 12 Set (just bought last month) and this thing is a game changer. Fits like a glove and more storage than I could ever use. Worth the price!
    Thanks for sharing information...this is how we learn and grow as runners.

      Question for both you and Ryan... Do you ever get sore at the base of the bottles, from the pressure/light bouncing? On one hand, I know I need to HTFU. On the other, ow. 3/4 hours stuff here.

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  5 років тому

      I don’t, the soft flasks solve that problem form me. Is that what you use or do you use hard bottles?

  • @EHughes0658
    @EHughes0658 5 років тому +4

    Hey Ryan. It's great that you are encouraging the use of cheaper options as so many folk don't. In my experience, some cheaper stuff can outlast the expensive! I have a Flip Belt and yeah it's really useful; think I paid about £35 here in UK so quite pricey for what it is. I also use a Salomon Agile 250 belt which will store a 250ml soft flask (probs would stretch to a 500ml), my phone and a lightweight waterproof jacket, in my case an Inov8 Ultra Shell as it'll pack/roll down really small. Must get some crates for my car too!

    Great selections, especially the wipes. A simple addition but really comes in handy during our hot/humid summer runs.

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  5 років тому

      Totally! They are kinda awkward to talk about, people instantly think of baby wipes haha, but they are great!

    Best piece of kit.... your RoadID. Haven’t carried one as have details in phone, but that’s no good if phone dies. I’m definitely getting one & can also add organ donor “yes”.

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  5 років тому +1

      Yeah, I love having it, I wear it on every run/ride/openwater swim! I even wear it when I'm traveling, just in case!

    The flip belt is the unsung hero of running gear. That little thing can hold your keys, phone and like a thousand calories, fits like a glove, and doesn't ride up or bounce around.

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  5 років тому

      I couldn't agree more, it is so useful!! Thanks!

    I use a Nathan VaporKrar WaistPak. It is basicly a fancy flip belt and comes with a 0.5 l soft flask.

    I watch a lot of gear videos and yes over time it is all the same and some obvious, but once in awhile one recommendation is unique and sometimes overlooked
    Such is your #3recommendation for a road ID. I bike to work, Mountain bike at times, trail run and even my delivery job I can be out in rural back-country areas. The road ID makes sense. Something that I will definitely add to my Gear/EDC
    Thanks for the share recommendation!

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
