Well, everyone else already told you about the meaning - which you DID get. Avi's lyrics tend to be written in such a way that can mean different things to different people. He's very poetic that way. I must say, every Avi fan I know likes to listen to all 3 versions of "All is Well" and wouldn't have any problem with you reacting to more than one version (even if the 7 layers IS my personal favorite, I love them all). I second the vote for "When I'm a Fool - Live at Sunset Sound." Thank you for continuing to react to Avi!

Thank you! Yes the lyrics can be difficult and it has nothing to do with what your native language may be.
Charlotte is correct. Avi did explain in "the waiting room" that he was talking about his emotional reactions to problems but it is written in such a way it can be understood by the listener to be about getting away from a toxic relationship or an addiction instead.
This video was a pretty big deal. First time Avi's people got together post Covid for a video. The piano was an issue. They had to use a tractor to get it up into and down from the barn loft. The drummer is Noah Denney, the bass player is Kaleb Jones and the pedal steel is Dakota Holden his band members. He doesn't have a piano currently at his live shows.
You should really react to "All is Well" sung with his co-writer on it Joy Williams who has 4 Grammies herself.
Instead of recommending a song I am going to suggest something his label, Fantasy Records, does uniquely with their artists (James Taylor, Tanya Tucker, Paul Simon, Nathaniel Rateliff etc) called "Fantasy Flashcards" a bit silly but enjoyable answers to questions.

Those backstage stories are kinda hilarious. Hopefully i get more of those with throwing in some of these other video’s. I like to see their minds picked on how they live music. I like to check out that label! Made a not of all!

The context is dealing with anxiety and depression, and yes, those "inner demons". About how that first place one tends to go, toward negative thoughts and worst case scenarios is the last place you need to go to defeat those feelings. Many of Avi's fans have thanked him for speaking to these issues without shame and with positive messages.

About your conflict between the "dark" lyrics with heavy meaning and the uplifting music, Avi does this a lot! The only dark meaning song with a matching music is Chains. In the other ones, it's like he's infusing fight and hope with the music wrapped around rather "sad" lyrics. Then, when you listen to Floating on a Dream, it feels like you're flying high!!!
I think you nailed the meaning, fighting his inner demons. The first place in his mind he goes is the worst case scenario.
The thousand pound stone of anxiety and depression.
He wants that door of anxiety and depression, that big stone to close and go away.
He has dealt with it his entire life.
