Dans la culture anglaise... , mais au Pays de Galles, ils ont aussi une cornemuse, en Do je crois. Et puis la proximité d'avec l'Ecosse leur a sans doute permis de garder cette tradition.
Very very musical tune and performance. Incidently. The rules are for competing. musical performances are just pure music. Well done guts. Loved the harmonies.
I just got my Northumbrian pipes a few weeks ago and I would love some direction to that particular sheet music. Thanks for posting, it's an inspiration to those of us who are learning!
I think you shared a house in Brum with Ian Grant and Ian Johnson (?). I can remember you practising early one morning after a ceilidh. It must have been around the early 70s. My first experience of the northumbrian pipes - have loved them ever since.
I don't know if you are a better piper than chemistry teacher, but I prefer listening to this. Who'd have thought youtube would be a good way to find a teacher from 35(!) years ago. OK, you are both excellent pipers, thanks for putting these up.
Nice sound, but the more complicated the bagpipes become, the less I want to mess with them. Bagpipes were supposed to be simple, a way to incorporate a reeded pipe with a chord organ, so the musician could roam the countryside and tend sheep. All of those extra keys and complicated drones make it sound nice, but it's too much hassle
Northumbrian pipes have such a beautiful and rich sound that tells a story like no other instrument.
I love Northumbrian pipes . They speak to the soul of anyone born in this wonderful part of the world . thank you .
The only pipe left in English culture. Long may its resurrection continue. Loved the song.

A very beautiful lament. Makes me cry every time I listen. God bless you.

That break into Lads of Alnwick genuinely made my heart skip a beat it was so good.
A Northumbrian living in Manchester for the last 25 years, I wept at the sounds of home.
Le gach dea guí ó Éireann ( with every best wish from Ireland ) Fantastic music keep it goin' !

A musical gem
never let this tradition die
This tune was made after the untimely death of a friend. It is meant to express emotion not follow 'rules'!
Its beautiful man, love it.
It's the "imperfections" that make it perfect... a moment in time caputured.
This is so lovely 💙

Remember folks only one finger at a time off the chanter and no vibrato, i.e wobbly 4th finger right hand.
Tom clough wouldn't like that.tut tut.! ! !
