I never bought that she didn't love it's a Bangel and OTP myth. People can and do love more than one person in the course of a lifetime or in a Buffy's technically two or three of them.
Buffys truest love was Angel, she loved him the most, then came Riley and no matter how perfect he seemed to her capable of fighting, being human and loving her, she just couldn't love him as much as she loved Angel and its the same with Spike but if its the question who loved her the most, Spike did.

Buffy was obviously hurt what she saw on camera and everybody noticed. Buffy came for Spike in basement and forcing Xander to give him place to stay, Entire season 7 from episode 7 was Buffy not giving up on Spike and they becomed close with Buffy cutting Giles or Wood of completely for trying to kill Spike and she said several times Spike is only one who watches her back It was love She cared for Spike even when their memories were erased by Willow protecting him first. James is completely right, they did reunite in the comics. It took a while, but now they're dating and living together, so she obviously loves Spike more. She had a choice to be with Angel, and she passed it up for Spike. Angel isn't too happy about it, but he's said he won't get in their way. It's weird yet awesome looking at the comics and seeing Spuffy together and knowing there's more then just sex. Then again, I'm a total Spuffy shipper, so I love every second of it.
There's the issue where angel would lose his soul like that one time, cause the curse is he can't be 'too happy' so it's too dangerous to be with buffy.

I'd say Spike I truly believe she was in love with both of them but in season 2 Buffy killed Angelus to save the world but in season 7 Buffy refused to kill Spike to save the world and ran to Spike when she found out Giles was stalling her. But Buffy loved them both equally in her own way.

Buff loved them both for different reasons she loved Angel because of his more mysterious brooding self as well as Angel being the first vampire with a soul that she had encountered but unfortunately not known to them till later any moment Angel experiences with true happiness he will revert back into the Pure Evil Angelus losing his Soul in the process due to the gypsies cursing him towards all the crimes he has commited. With Spike it was because Summers was in a dark place and Spike brought out more fighting in her and they where better at sparring with each other not just with physical blows but verbal blows as well Spike would help keep her on her toes even before he got his soul back even though part of it was due to the chips in his brains influence it was shown in flashback with him arguing with Drusilla that he loved Buffy even prior to getting the chip in his head. With Angel it was one extreme to another due to the curse invoked on his person with Spike it was more middle ground because Spike did not need a Human Soul to love. At first she would have choose Angel but after a while she saw that she was a better match for Spike I believe but I think she still loves Angel and always will but she is not in love with him. I think the Demon With The Angelic face is a better partner for Cordelia or Faith.

Both, let me explain - Angel was youthful love, a relationship that was not broken due to lack of it or infidelities, which cannot be maintained because basically there is the curse but it is still there and will continue forever. - Spike the love that is established step by step, we see him being his enemy, ally, lover, in short something step by step. If in choosen he says that sometimes he thinks about a future with angel, it is because he never had a relationship in its fullness with him but he also has feelings for spike Angel leaves and does not participate in chooses in the battle because he is no longer part of the series, it would be absurd to put a guy who has his own series and give him prominence. The episode the girl in question is great because we already see a friendship, camaraderie between angel and spike and making Buffy be with another is a way to close the great triangle but the comics have destroyed it, putting those vignettes of her doing a threesome is degrading . If Sarah had been in the girl in question then the episode would have been great in fact both angel and spike have moments where they tell her about her heart. The problem with the triangle is that they make Angel jealous (when it was he who left her for her good) and Spike as a fool
considering the ending of the comic books I think she goes for both of then at the same time keeping her options open. AND apparently both of them are totally fine with it so whatever. ^^

FavioRiveros That's your choice and kinda your loss. The first Angel and Faith comic series is epic. The IDW after the fall isn't bad either and features Angel being very heroic although the art style's not great. I stayed away from them for years

Absolutely agree with you. It was so unnecessary. Why couldn't Angel have done the same trials Spike did and get his soul permanently attached? Then he could have been with Buffy. Why was he never even given the chance? I also hate the prevalent idea of 'Spike's the best, so he should be with Buffy.' Spike actually is my favourite character, but I realize that is my personal taste and preference. And I'm quite aware Angel is still a great guy too! The question is which of them is right for Buffy - and which of them is BUFFY right for? Buffy was a much better girlfriend to Angel than she ever was to Spike, and while Spike's devotion to Buffy could be beautiful, it didn't start out that way. Angel began his story devoted to Buffy and that never changed. Even as Angelus, Buffy remained the centre of his universe, just in an evil way. Where is the continuity editor? 😁 Also, I have a hard time with accepting the depth of 'devoted' relationships between people who have lightly rejected past relationships that were apparently equally devoted for no reason. Spike loved Dru. She'd always cheated and come back, and he'd always taken her back. (I wouldn't consider that a healthy relationship in most circumstances, but Drusilla was insane and not morally responsible for her actions. She needed Spike and he was understanding of that and faithful to her.) She came back to him, wanting to recover what they had, and he offers to kill her for Buffy? (That is the one scene where I cannot bear my Spike's behaviour or make ANY excuses for him.) How would this send any message to Buffy other than that even a hundred years of devotion from Spike cannot be trusted; he still could turn on you? And for Buffy herself, how could Spike ever really believe she loved him if she just 'forgot' Angel after the love they had shared? I can't see a relationship built on emotional if not ACTUAL infidelity resulting in fidelity between Buffy and Spike, if you get what I mean.

If you carefully watch the episodes with her and spike you can see she loved him. If it was just physical Buffy would have killed Spike a long time ago, but instead she kept saving his life and didn’t want him to die. There was also a prophecy told by a psychic to Spike “one day she’ll tell you.” Which implies that Buffy loves him and she’ll tell him one day when she’s ready. Buffy was going to let herself die along With spike if he hadn’t kept telling her to leave.
Well, I agree with you. There's no evidence in the show that Buffy ever felt or WANTED to feel any connection with Spike other than the physical, which means nothing. Fans insist there had to be something real underneath to justify them ending up together, but it's never actually THERE! Buffy never cares about Spike's well-being or discussed the deep questions of her life with him or even does sweet romantic date-y stuff (which is kind of how you get to know if the relationship will work) like she did with Angel. Those two had a real relationship, even if it was a bit soppy for my taste. Buffy and Spike is never a relationship at all. He's her devoted slave, and she sees him as variously a weapon, punching bag, or sex toy to be used. There is no real emotional or supportive relationship connection about that. It's completely unhealthy, even in Season 7 where Buffy isn't actively beating him up. It's still only just about what she can get from Spike, not loving Spike for himself like Buffy did with Angel. Buffy never even considered the kind of person Spike actually was, and it doesn't seem to have occurred to her that is kind of necessary to know before just jumping into bed with someone.

I've always hated Spuffy. It was toxic and dark and that's something I've always hated, in real life and on screen. Spike never made her happy. he had isolated her from her friends and made her feel cheap and worthless and she had treated him like that too. The bathroom scene should be enough for them to not be together. It doesn't matter to me that Spike has a soul now because he's barely different than he was before. He's still the same obsessive jerk. I love relationship I can say is beautiful. Bangel was pure and beautiful and Briley had those moments too but Spuffy? Nope, it can't compare. I don't count the comic books because to me it's not part of the show. The writers and the cast made it a story, not the comic books.
They pretty much confirmed in the finale that she never really loved him and then in Angel the series they made the point again that she never loved spike because he wasn’t Angel. Even if she had ended up with spike it’s only because her and Angel could never be together the way they wanted due to his curse
are u sure? i feel like in the finale he said no you don’t to let go of her and help aid in her letting go of him because he knew he had to die right then and there to save the world. in angel it was more of both angel and spike realizing that buffy had moved on. not fully moved on, but was moving forward in her life and it wasn’t about them anymore.

Even if she loved Spike in the end, it would only be as a 'consolation prize' since she couldn't be with Angel. If it wasn't for the curse Angel would never have left Buffy. They would have still been together when Spike came back to town and got chipped, and he would never have even had an opportunity to develop an interest in Buffy. Maybe he would have actually followed through on his initial interest in Willow, which I would have really liked, and we would have gotten to see more of him and Angel arguing and Buffy being totally exasperated by it. Fun times! 😁
As far as the TV show goes, they make it very clear in the final episode if you pay attention that Buffy never loved Spike. So, it's a pretty easy question. Buffy loved Angel with all her heart and always did with circumstances keeping them apart, while she never loved Spike.

Buffy will always love Angel in some way but that doesn't mean they'll drift off into the sunset together she's outgrown him, they've lived apart from years and events in the comics reveal to her how flawed he is even with a soul and she finally takes him off the pedestal. It's first love you never forget but it's a rare instance where it lasts. Spike is flawed too but Buffy always knew that and he tries to overcome the worst of who he is. I'd say Spike I truly believe she was in love with both of them but in season 2 Buffy killed Angelus to save the world but in season 7 Buffy refused to kill Spike to save the world and ran to Spike when she found out Giles was stalling her. But Buffy loved them both equally in her own way.

Buff loved them both for different reasons she loved Angel because of his more mysterious brooding self as well as Angel being the first vampire with a soul that she had encountered but unfortunately not known to them till later any moment Angel experiences with true happiness he will revert back into the Pure Evil Angelus losing his Soul in the process due to the gypsies cursing him towards all the crimes he has commited. With Spike it was because Summers was in a dark place and Spike brought out more fighting in her and they where better at sparring with each other not just with physical blows but verbal blows as well Spike would help keep her on her toes even before he got his soul back even though part of it was due to the chips in his brains influence it was shown in flashback with him arguing with Drusilla that he loved Buffy even prior to getting the chip in his head. With Angel it was one extreme to another due to the curse invoked on his person with Spike it was more middle ground because Spike did not need a Human Soul to love. At first she would have choose Angel but after a while she saw that she was a better match for Spike I believe but I think she still loves Angel and always will but she is not in love with him. I think the Demon With The Angelic face is a better partner for Cordelia or Faith.

I always read Spike's statement as a combination of 'now she tells me when I have to die' exasperation, not believing due to insecurity, Rick esque making it easier for her to leave and a sentiment best expressed by Martin Fry 'no I won't be told there's a crock of gold at the end of the 🌈, all the pleasure and pain, sunshine and rain might make this love grow' he's protecting himself.

- Angel was youthful love, a relationship that was not broken due to lack of it or infidelities, which cannot be maintained because basically there is the curse but it is still there and will continue forever.
- Spike the love that is established step by step, we see him being his enemy, ally, lover, in short something step by step.
If in choosen he says that sometimes he thinks about a future with angel, it is because he never had a relationship in its fullness with him but he also has feelings for spike
Angel leaves and does not participate in chooses in the battle because he is no longer part of the series, it would be absurd to put a guy who has his own series and give him prominence.
The episode the girl in question is great because we already see a friendship, camaraderie between angel and spike and making Buffy be with another is a way to close the great triangle but the comics have destroyed it, putting those vignettes of her doing a threesome is degrading .
If Sarah had been in the girl in question then the episode would have been great
in fact both angel and spike have moments where they tell her about her heart.
The problem with the triangle is that they make Angel jealous (when it was he who left her for her good) and Spike as a fool
considering the ending of the comic books I think she goes for both of then at the same time keeping her options open. AND apparently both of them are totally fine with it so whatever. ^^

Absolutely agree with you. It was so unnecessary. Why couldn't Angel have done the same trials Spike did and get his soul permanently attached? Then he could have been with Buffy. Why was he never even given the chance?
I also hate the prevalent idea of 'Spike's the best, so he should be with Buffy.' Spike actually is my favourite character, but I realize that is my personal taste and preference. And I'm quite aware Angel is still a great guy too! The question is which of them is right for Buffy - and which of them is BUFFY right for? Buffy was a much better girlfriend to Angel than she ever was to Spike, and while Spike's devotion to Buffy could be beautiful, it didn't start out that way. Angel began his story devoted to Buffy and that never changed. Even as Angelus, Buffy remained the centre of his universe, just in an evil way. Spike hated Buffy and wished she would just disappear, and then all of a sudden he's desperately in love with her? Really nonsensical. Where is the continuity editor? 😁
Also, I have a hard time with accepting the depth of 'devoted' relationships between people who have lightly rejected past relationships that were apparently equally devoted for no reason. Spike loved Dru. She'd always cheated and come back, and he'd always taken her back. (I wouldn't consider that a healthy relationship in most circumstances, but Drusilla was insane and not morally responsible for her actions. She needed Spike and he was understanding of that and faithful to her.) She came back to him, wanting to recover what they had, and he offers to kill her for Buffy? (That is the one scene where I cannot bear my Spike's behaviour or make ANY excuses for him.) How would this send any message to Buffy other than that even a hundred years of devotion from Spike cannot be trusted; he still could turn on you? And for Buffy herself, how could Spike ever really believe she loved him if she just 'forgot' Angel after the love they had shared? I can't see a relationship built on emotional if not ACTUAL infidelity resulting in fidelity between Buffy and Spike, if you get what I mean.

Buffy said it was just physical with her and Spike because she was in denial and lying to herself cause she couldn’t accept that she could love someone like Spike. If you carefully watch the episodes with her and spike you can see she loved him. If it was just physical Buffy would have killed Spike a long time ago, but instead she kept saving his life and didn’t want him to die. There was also a prophecy told by a psychic to Spike “one day she’ll tell you.” Which implies that Buffy loves him and she’ll tell him one day when she’s ready. Buffy was going to let herself die along

Well, I agree with you. There's no evidence in the show that Buffy ever felt or WANTED to feel any connection with Spike other than the physical, which means nothing. Fans insist there had to be something real underneath to justify them ending up together, but it's never actually THERE! Buffy never cares about Spike's well-being or discussed the deep questions of her life with him or even does sweet romantic date-y stuff (which is kind of how you get to know if the relationship will work) like she did with Angel. Those two had a real relationship, even if it was a bit soppy for my taste. Buffy and Spike is never a relationship at all. He's her devoted slave, and she sees him as variously a weapon, punching bag, or sex toy to be used. There is no real emotional or supportive relationship connection about that. It's completely unhealthy, even in Season 7 where Buffy isn't actively beating him up. It's still only just about what she can get from Spike, not loving Spike for himself like Buffy did with Angel. Buffy never even considered the kind of person Spike actually was, and it doesn't seem to have occurred to her that is kind of necessary to know before just jumping into bed with someone.

I've always hated Spuffy. It was toxic and dark and that's something I've always hated, in real life and on screen. Spike never made her happy. he had isolated her from her friends and made her feel cheap and worthless and she had treated him like that too. The bathroom scene should be enough for them to not be together. It doesn't matter to me that Spike has a soul now because he's barely different than he was before. He's still the same obsessive jerk. I love relationship I can say is beautiful. Bangel was pure and beautiful and Briley had those moments too but Spuffy? Nope, it can't compare. I don't count the comic books because to me it's not part of the show. The writers and the cast made it a story, not the comic books.

are u sure? i feel like in the finale he said no you don’t to let go of her and help aid in her letting go of him because he knew he had to die right then and there to save the world. in angel it was more of both angel and spike realizing that buffy had moved on. not fully moved on, but was moving forward in her life and it wasn’t about them anymore.
The Season 7 DVD extra commentary for the series finale has Joss talking about the direction he gave Sarah and James for that last scene:
To Sarah: "Love him when you tell him you love him."
To James: "Love her when you tell her she doesn't."
Even if she loved Spike in the end, it would only be as a 'consolation prize' since she couldn't be with Angel. If it wasn't for the curse Angel would never have left Buffy. They would have still been together when Spike came back to town and got chipped, and he would never have even had an opportunity to develop an interest in Buffy. Maybe he would have actually followed through on his initial interest in Willow, which I would have really liked, and we would have gotten to see more of him and Angel arguing and Buffy being totally exasperated by it. Fun times! 😁
As far as the TV show goes, they make it very clear in the final episode if you pay attention that Buffy never loved Spike. So, it's a pretty easy question. Buffy loved Angel with all her heart and always did with circumstances keeping them apart, while she never loved Spike.

Bangel shippers say that but I never believed it. Buffy will always love Angel in some way but that doesn't mean they'll drift off into the sunset together she's outgrown him, they've lived apart from years and events in the comics reveal to her how flawed he is even with a soul and she finally takes him off the pedestal. It's first love you never forget but it's a rare instance where it lasts. Spike is flawed too but Buffy always knew that and he tries to overcome the worst of who he is. Spuffy is the love that you grow into
