How Do Digors Live - Indigenous People Of The North Caucasus
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 лип 2024
- The Digor or Digor people are a subgroup of the Ossetians (Alans). They speak the Digor dialect of the Eastern Iranian Ossetian language, which in USSR was considered a separate language until 1937. Starting from 1932 it is considered just a dialect of Ossetian language. In the 2002 Russian Census 607 Digors were registered, but in the 2010 Russian Census their number was only 223. The Digor mainly live in Digorsky, Irafsky, Mozdoksky districts and Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia-Alania, also in Kabardino-Balkaria, Turkey and Syria.

I have never heard of the Digorians until now. I need to do some reading up on them. It is amazing that they were able to keep their language still alive with all the other groups of people moving in on them like that.
I love learning about ethnicities that are new to me.
Thank you for this video. 🙂🌻💜
Hi ! Im one of them. I’m surprised now some foreigners will know about us
What else is out there
I am a Digorian. Many Digorians, in order to avoid a split among the Ossetians, call themselves Iron Ossetians, but inside Ossetia everyone understands perfectly well who the Digorians are)) There are many more Digorians than you mentioned)) there are from 150 thousand of them.
As far as I understand it would be more appropriate to say that you are Digor-Ossetians, As-Digors are mentioned in ancient sources as one of the Alani people on the North Caucasus. Also Iron and Digoron are somewhat mutually intelligible, aren't they?
@@KetiDzagoevi-uj9zr The languages are 90% similar (there are pronunciation features and grammatical differences), but there are also completely different words. In general, a person who speaks the Digor language well will understand a person who speaks the Ironic language without any problems.
@kuydaftæu Thank you. I never heard of the Digorian people until I watched this video, and when I read that not very many were left, I was thrilled to read your comment about there being around 150 thousand! Thank you again!
@@kuydaftæu I am studying the language now and I noticed that Chsainag dialect which is spoken mainly by southern Ossetians sounds a bit like Digoron Ossetian, with soft sounds. I don't think that calling Digor people their name would in any way cause the split among Ossetians, nor should it. The name Ossete comes from As which is a second name of the Alans and many ancient sources use terms Alans and As as synonyms. Ossetians are the Aorsi-Alanorsi-Alans of the north Caucasus no matter the dialect or religion. We have something more important in common and that is history, ancestry, values, traditions and the language is still one with different brunches. But that's not difference, that's diversity.
They appear to be a good looking, hardy, kind people that I had no idea existed. Thank you for showcasing them.
What a beautiful relationship between grandfather and grandson and for grandfather to pass that history to his grandson and physically have his grandson experience their mountain and is something his grandson will never forget.
Hats off to the indomitable spirits of these indigenous Digor people. They stuck to their roots and never gived up.Nice informative video❤🎉❤
What a lucky little boy to have this beautiful memory of his childhood with his beautiful grandfather how precious and wonderful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for showing me these beautiful landscapes and for introducing me to the Digorian people. I would like to know more about these people and their history and the history of that region. Thanks also to Digorian commentators who added more information. 150,000, hurrah!
I really enjoyed this story. I love these small cultural treasures. There’s so much beauty in everday hardship in nature. So many stories get lost.
Our pleasure!

They're just 1 of a hundred fabulous small nationalitieds in the Caucasus. Some were once large and paramount, but mellowed and refined.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this history.
In my imagination, the Alan women dancers were startled and frightened , and so used their bow and arrows in self defence 😞
Such a tragedy
Such a big big tragedy

Interesting that nana means grandmother in their language. And it means grandmother in Sicilianu and Espanol.
It is grandmother in my language .
NANA in Digor language means grandmother)
@@kuydaftæu lol! I left out first part off word on accident. cheers
Good story ❤🇦🇺good memories
Iranians of the Caucus. They speak Eastern Iranian. Iron = Iran
*İ ain't saying she a gold Digor, but ain't messin' with no broke..."
Aren't they the original caucasians?
Well there's many types of Caucasians such as Georgians, Circassians and Armenians although i'm sure if Ossetians are the original ones.
Ok, Iranians living in the Caucasus……
just change 1 consinent, and everybody loses thier minds
Which country is this, Romania or Hungary?
Maybe Georgia?
Russia.
@@jerry4256NOT Russia! This is the North Kavkaz/Caucasia, Ossetia.
its in russian federation
@@wewenang5167 not Russia. Federation is involuntary, it’s a colonial empire.
Don't ever believe it's not manifesting now days why can't ppl just stop the hatred in world stop being greedy and bullies
Because you keep voting for assholes to run your government
the diggers
alans are turks
I would advise you to start with the basics. Study the etymology of the word "OSETIA". Perhaps then you will talk less nonsense.
Only according to your dreams. According to science they were Indo European Iranics. We have Alanic text samples btw which match modern Ossetian exactly. 90% of Türkic Peoples are east Asian, but Scythians were Caucasoid.❤❤❤
@@nukhetyavuz all universities worldwide tell us in EXACT those words "Scythians were Caucasoid Indo Europeans". Surely I will trust them 100 times over you.
I don't think so .
Esau is Edom.
Wrong Ashkenazis and Sephardics are Edom and by extension "black" Americans and "black" Caribbeans. Where as us Europeans and the Caucasus people are Israelites.
Beautiful people
Digor, please.
