If you look carefully at one of these you will find there is a big difference in build quality between this being Indian built and a Swift being Japanese built. The Swift is a way better deal both in resale or if you wanted to keep one 10 years.
The Japanese Swifts definitely have tighter panel gaps, less exposed screws and better quality fittings over the Indian Baleno. However, mechanically the Maruti cars have still proven to be quite strong, especially looking at used Altos (a car of interest for future videos). 5 year resale, Swift is a better bet although it is smaller inside in terms of accomodation and boot. If its Swift Vs MG3 and Picanto in that size of car, Swift wins for me. MG is the only one of those three closest to the Baleno in size. Baleno is more of a target for those looking at used Corollas, Mazda 3s, i30s, Ceratos and Focus as it offers a package close in size to those cars but in a new car for the price of a used one. 10 years I still think the Baleno in auto form is better than the current auto Swift (manual it would be reversed) as the Swift has a Jatco CVT, which aren’t known for their reliability. When it fails, that transmission costs $5000 transmission plus labour. The issue would be less likely to happen if the transmission fluid was changed but I am not sure many owners would have that done every 50-60,000km.

If it is made in India,it does not mean that is made worse.The Baleno is much better car than the Swift.A class higher in every aspect.
