    English translation of the Lyrics:
I put myself forward over the head, halfway backward
See myself singing the gospel hymn we wrote together
We had a dream,we had all
We rode to the end of the world,we rode searching
    Climbing skyscrapers
Which then shattered the peace there
    I played steady
Falling down,I will let myself forward, and somehow
I always come down again in the same place
    Absolute silence
    No words
The best thing that God has created is a new day

Thank you Sigur Rós, and especially Jonsi on giving me a voice through this clip. I was bullied out of my sports team for being gay and remember faking an injury just to not play again because of how heavy the abuse was. It's as if if you are gay, everybody just wants to destroy you. The other players were hell-bent on giving me a hard time. As a consequence I grew up feeling as though the world owed me an apology. 20 years later, the pain of all the abuse still remains. 2:27 best describes my feelings till this day. I don't know what it is about this clip, but every time I watch it, a part of me heals... THANK YOU.

One of the reasons I totally reject religion is that it destroys souls. If someone believes that's fine, but what churches do to people is morally completely reprehensible, especially the Christian church, which has been up to mischief for centuries. Sorry if that sounds harsh to some, it's the truth. The video is a very strong sign against exclusion and fanaticism.

    • @hamerful
      @hamerful Рік тому

@@svenboucherThat is not accurate. It is fanatics and extremists that destroy souls but not Christ. Christ restores it. A lot of fanatic people have portrayed God as a monster that sits on His throne and waits until people sin just to punish them but that is not the true God. That is a God of their own image...

en það besta sem guð hefur skapað

That’s wonderful news! It was through my allyship (before I realized I was actually queer, myself) that began my turning my back on the church and made me an Atheist. Even when I was still identifying as Christian I knew that queerness couldn’t possibly be a sin. Queer people have historically sacrificed everything for who they love and to live, peacefully, as who they are. How is that hurting anyone? How can that be a sin? I’ve been an Athiest since age 14 until about age 24 when I had a momentary relapse into Christianity, and then I left the church for good at about age 34. My life has been so much better since. I’m free to do whatever I want without fear of eternal damnation and I choose to be a good, kind, empathetic, and loving person because it betters society not because some cloud-bound boogeyman demands it of me. Congratulations on finding your own freedom. ☺️

Being gay is not a choice, but we have a choice to abide by virtue or by vice, it is virtuous to be charitable, and to be charitable is to love, charity is letting those love who they want, whether pansexual, heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, inter-sexual, all the way down to asexual celibacy, to love oneself is the happiness one feels when they can embrace and feel happy for the love that others share, love is love, you can try and attach a label to any sexual orientation, but love is not a label, love is love, thank you Sigur Ros for helping me come out of the closet 12 years ago, I remember this video as well as I did when I watched it then. Embrace the love you see around you to be able to love yourself and the world around you, unconditionally.

For me, the people young and old can notice the uncompassionate reactions of the Dad, (assuming he is to the boy), and some of the onlooking crowd towards the boys affection for one another. But it shows hope or just the strength of a human to not compromise who you are. Maybe it shows how someone can strive to be or struggle to live as a person not willing to change the core of what makes a person.

What a truly brilliant film clip for a phenomenal song by a truly unique band from that amazing country Iceland.. The beauty and art and decency that comes from that little country is astonishing... a population about the same of that of Leicester in the U.K. that provides such a torrent of talented people ... but this clip is from another realm quality wise because of the theme it realises and questions so beautifully.... magnificent.

Song and text is about life without prejudice. as he sings " the best gift from god is another day" .. when what u see in the video is no longer how people will react.

Sigur Ros' videos are short films in their own right. They're not "music videos". Beautiful.

I heard 30 seconds of this song on an MTV/VH1 artists to watch special 15 years ago. I saw the part where the water washes over the doll. I bought the album the next day. 15 years later, this is still my favorite song from one of my favorite bands.
Wow, MTV was actually helpful in discovering good music once. They also introduced me to Broken Social Scene. MTV was on a roll.

Omigoodness this was such an amazing video. Like, way to reach out to all those struggling with their sexuality. You just earned a like, favorite, and subscribe from me. This was honestly the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long time, so thanks to Sigur Ros for sharing this with the world. It was amazing and I feel like I could watch it over and over again.

BBC Sport F1 2009 Season Review brought me here. It still gives me a big goosebumps seeing how Ross Brawn managed to save Honda F1 Team in just three months. Absolute madness that!

This video means "the first love" that we all had in our childhood... i'm not homosexual, but i respect everyperson... that's the message of the song, respect, they're persons just like us, they think just like us... they fall in love just like us.

"The best thing God has created is a new day" this gives me strength during hard times because it always reminds me that no matter how hard it's being, tomorrow will be a new day and all of this will be just part of the past.
