I love AD2, and the tech-support people are awesome, and ask a question get answers very fast, an hour or two, rather than days like some vendors.. love these guys
Addictive drums and addictive keys are great products, but more important to me. They have been a great company when I’ve needed support for advanced licensing issues. Their drums and expansion kits are some of the best on the market. In my opinion. Thank you for the video.
XLN Audio have a very real warm personality which is a major achievement in itself. Not many companies can say that about themselves.Addictive Drums is a joy.
Been using AD since it was first released. I have a whole classic modern Jazz album done all using AD(didn't quantize) it's unreleased. These drums sound really authentic. Drums are my first instrument so I can think like a drummer. Pair this with being a keyboard player and its scary how real these drums sound.
I was just working with AD2 again for a new song and I actually thought about how dated it seemed. Then I saw a mention of the update in a FB group and did the update this week. It is a great improvement for me and just in time as I refine the rhythm track. Your video is a great summary of the new features and changes. Thank you.
I use AD2 for all my drum tracks. I also own Superior 3 + lots of SDX’s/EZX’s, BFD3, all NI libraries and used to own SSD5.5. Whilst all these are very capable products, I personally prefer AD2. I’ve always found the layout very intuitive and the workflow very fast. Also, I really like the overall sound of the kits. The new 2.5 update looks much slicker/clearer and the new features are very welcome. On top of this, the new Vintage Dead AdPak is excellent. I am very much looking forward to following the future development of Addictive Drums and new AdPaks!
Great walk through! I've used AD for years and don't think I've ever even noticed the Transform tab. Apparently I'm stuck in my old ways and it's time to branch out towards new horizons.
Thanks for the run through. I'd say the Beat Transformer has been my favorite/most used feature. So "new?" Not really, but I like the changes a lot and am delighted that it's a free update!
Hi Mike, thank you for this run-through. I updated it a few days ago, after the email from XLN, and it is improved. One question, I can never remember which kits I own and in the old version when scrolling through the kits, the ones I didn't own showed up as "Preview", where is that feature in the update? As I scroll through the kits I can't see which ones I own and which I don't. Any ideas?
Maybe I’m missing it but the “Snapshot” feature that was down at the bottom right corner is not there anymore. I use that a lot while trying out different kits. If it’s somewhere I haven’t noticed yet someone let me know! Other than that I’m liking the update. Hope they do the same with Addictive Trigger!
Two things came to mind: 1) If they aren't developing a new major version, they wanted to update the look to entice potential new customers and did a solid by making it free for existing customers 2) Maybe they are working on a new version and the work on the GUI was already done, so applying it to the old version may not have been as big a cost as it appears. So, it was worth updating for the reasons in #1.
Thanks ..sounds great..and i do love that but about VIEW where you hover to see clutter. I really cant enjoy(adhd factor) the absolute chaos of view on all Daws.
Hi Mike. I was adding the different drum pieces to separate outputs and ran into an issue. The crash cymbal at D5 has no assignable output. Have you found that to be true also or is it me? Thanks.
Is it possible to edit/create/save custom original beats in AD2? I see that it has an export to MIDI button, which could be a multi-step solution to that, but editability would be helpful, as many DAW’s are complex (drum map purgatory) or one-size-fits-all (piano roll ambiguity).
Thank you ! I wonder, I have AD2 and I’ve altered the tone and fx on kick and snare in a beat I’ve used in my DAW (Reaper). What happens when I upgrade? I’m definitely going to upgrade cuz I have much more to gain than lose, but will settings carry over? Thanks again ! EDIT: oh yea, how to upgrade? Just download again ?

Thanks for the headsup Mike. I've used the excellent AD2 for a long time. This is a very welcome update...and for free. Cheers XLN Audio!

Thank you :)
I've used AD1 & 2 on dozens of songs, so any improvements are welcome, and these seem very useful. I'm especially glad they improved the EQ.
Wow amazing update!
Addictive Drums is a great alternative to a drummer - it doesn't hit on your girlfriend or drink all your beer. And it's always on time!
:)
I don't know, I think I prefer the old gui, new one looks dull. But really glad for any update to AD, my preferred drum plugin
Yeah, I think these things are a matter of taste.
@@CreativeSauce I've yet to see it in person, gonna check it out now
@@CreativeSauce Ok I'm sold on this update!
I have to say I was excited when I got the email. The GUI is so much better.

Probally means AD3 out for Christmas
Thank you for the walk thru of the new update. Now, I know exactly what they did.
For me, this puts AD back on the table as I'd moved to Steven Slate Drums in recent years. I found SSD to be more sonically pleasing.
I've had people say where did you get those drums they sound so life like I told them its AD2.
Really LOVE the new update! I was finding the interface a bit old, and uninspiring. Thanks for showing some of the details nicely!

can you automate the tranformer/and effect settings in the DAW?

Still no drummer's perspective kit view? :(
def used to use AD, but been SSlate for a few yrs now, AD just for special sounds, might look again now...

Cool...thanks!

Can I drop my own samples on a kit from my DAW browser and can I route midi out?
What’s the recorder icon in the edit page do ????

You can import your own (or 3rd party) MIDI files of beats.
So there’s no actual ‘swing’ function ?
Im so confused about all the revisions available...... What is the base version? I just dont understand, theres so many options....

I got it updated shortly after that last comment. Thank you again, I wouldn’t have known about it unless I saw your video !
They really messed up by removing the shortlist. They said they might bring it back. To me that is an essential feature for building tracks.
I wanna know, "what's the catch"?
It’s really only a UI refresh hence why it’s a .5 release.
Looks like Massive 2 now.
