Thanks for posting this review (nearly six years ago! It is now Aug 2024). I found your review interesting, a real niche find. I have two of these that I too bought from Bunnings years ago. I don't recall what I paid, but they were a clearance item and your quote of $4 sounds about right. The value for money was amazing. I am not a techie, but found your info interesting and I now know the CREE XPG2 LED has a good reputation in the industry, so no wonder the light is bloody amazing, it is by far my best bicycle headlight. Of course it can also just be used as a torch. As a bicycle headlight it is very bright and illuminates the road very clearly. And it is so bright that car drivers are easily able to notice the light and thus notice you (which sure beats getting run over). And as you point out, the light has the vertical cutoff so that whilst car drivers notice you, it does not shine up and blind them (obviously you have to have it properly mounted/positioned so that it does not point upwards). I searched for info about this light as I was curious as to the specs because I recently pulled them out of the cupboad after many years. I am amazed that the batteries were not flat as I thought they would self-discharge over time (but they were stored fully charged). Nevertheless I re-charged them to ensure they were fully charged and I ran a test and they were still shining brightly after an hour (I stopped after 60 minutesas I did not want to needlessly flatten them). Hopefully they will last quite a few more years, but when the batteries eventually lose their re-chariging capacity I will definitely just replace them so I can keep using the lights. Anyway, I am now going to check out some of your other videos.
