Never realized it myself. After reading that book about Eisenhower then going to the Crater I could see the similarities. Political pressures, Logistics, Intelligence, Leadership problems etc. Just interesting to explore these kinds of places to me. Thanks. Steve
I enjoy military history as well Steve. It's amazing as you said the similarities that both Generals shared although 80 years apart. Thanks for an interesting topic. You and your family enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday.
That's what stuck out to me this time when I went to the Crater. Over the years I pick up so much random info I can relate to other things I've learned, seen or done. That Eisenhower book I got to see what he dealt with and how he made his decisions. Kind of amazing how similar the 2 were almost 100 apart. Political pressure, leadership problems, logistics, intelligence etc. Thanks. Steve
I grew up here so I knew all about it as a kid but it never really sank in till I got older what all actually happened around here. From (precolonial) Pocahontas and John Rolfe to (Revolutionary war) Cornwallis and Lafayette right on up to today. Just unreal the people and events we learned in history class, were within about an hour from my backyard. Now that I'm retired I can visit and explore to my hearts content and still sleep in my own bed every night. Thanks. Steve
Cheers 🫡🍻
thanks. Steve
I never thought of this. So true!

Interesting topic. You are very lucky to be living near so much history. We just don’t really have that in the west.
