It will play Atmos. Atmos is just metadata embedded in the Dolby bitstream so if you have an external processor that’s Atmos capable it will extract the Atmos data from the Dolby datastream.
EDIT: This only applies to Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital+ data streams. The original lossy Dolby Digital does not have the meta data capability.

I own a Cambridge Audio Azur 752BD and absolutely love it. Plays everything I’ve thrown at it plus it works as a network player for my NAS. It’s quite a versatile machine and can even function as a pre amp. Has all the hookups you could want from analog, digital coax, optical and HDMI In/Out. It doesn’t support Dolby Atmos, but that’s not important to me. Good video, thanks for sharing.

A bit sneaky getting Brucey to do the intro ... was still on the lookout for a sneaky one!!
Great idea to have a quality combo unit that can play various legacy formats
AV to HDMI converter is a great idea .. used it for a DVD player

What sort of Winker would rip-off a Welsh hero such as yourself??
How do good 90's CD players from Arcam, Marantz, Pioneer etc. compare to these multi format players?

From what I've experienced, they are as good.

I didn't hear a difference, but Denon has the advantage of looking cooler.

Love seeing analogue 7.1 outputs. Means you can hook up cheap speakers and still get 5.1.

Most BluDvd players also don’t have CD track programing or my favorite, random track play. I have a portable cd player connected to a Topping MX5 via Balanced TRS to 3.5 in my desktop system and it sounds great and I have random play on my CDs

nice comparation, Denon, well, once you play as only to see A or B somehow i was thinking must be a Denon as A. i do have couple gears Denon including the DVD 2900 and dvd-A1XV and the bass is lovely and i get used to this kind of sound. i just love it. Yeah, Denon is good.

I couldn’t hear any difference in sound, even with the AirPods in. Cambridge Audio have always been a bit lazy with their displays. My home theatre receiver is a Azur 640R and I have a 540D DVD player.

I bought the Azur 752bd a few months ago and had the same problem with the hdmi output colours and a different cable fixed it. Absolutely love this thing for audio. I have a Panasonic 820 for 4K and blu ray movies which is also great but won’t play SACDs.

It can easily be fixed by a technician. I've done it on blu ray players and av amps. For 25euros. No idea what a UK technician might charge, but I reckon it won't be expensive.

We all make mistakes, you forgot to demo the HDMI, but think of it as a lesson that you shared with us, so now we all learned from it. I am actually happy that you have a Cambridge component, because I have the Cambridge AXA35 pure analog amplifier and it works like a beast. Saying all that, why do I still have the feeling that you might not keep the player in a long term? 🙂

Contact Cambridge Audio Customer Support. I’ve dealt with them before in getting a replacement remote for my 752BD and they were quite helpful and responsive. I own a few Blu-Ray Audio discs and they really shine. The 2018 remix of Pink Floyd’s Animals and The Endless River are both worthy. Rush’s 2112 is also a good one for the Blu-Ray Audio format. Not sure about the 650, but my 752 will pass the SACD audio signal via HDMI although I still prefer using the analog outputs with my MIT cables. Just an FYI. Enjoy your new CA Azur. Enjoy all your videos, by the way. Thanks!🙂

I bought the Cambridge CXN cd transport which is good but no sacd, I have a Sony blu ray which does and sounds good, but I never felt my equipment was getting the best source . So i bought new (it's on offer) Denon dcd 1600ne this sounded positively ropey for the first 10 ish hours . Then it just opened up .. The difference is night and day and also excellent as a transport, but the quality of sacd has to be listened too .. For my needs its well worth the outlay ..

Like a previous commenter, I have the 752BD. I find the sound a tad dark. I don't think the old Wolfsen DAC chips are up to modern sound quality and it doesn't play DSD files past 64 (like 128 or 256). I connected mine to my Denafrips DAC and it really opened up the sound and brought more detail. You can use the Coax/RCA digital out to connect to your DAC. Not sure about the 650 but the newer 752 also has HDMI arc out for audio. I bought one of those HDMI to I2S converter boxes from Ali Express and using my DAC's I2S input really opened the sound up more. Supposedly the BD Azurs use some Oppo components. You use the same commands to lift the DSD files off of SACDs to save as files on your network. Thank you for another interesting video! - Matt in L.A.
