I use a retractable clipped on my right pocket. I knock the magnet ones off. When I switched to round chalk both square rubber holders that I had held them fine. When I switched to $20 chalk I wrapped electric tape around the rubber holder so I know it won't fall out. I LOVE my retractable holder on my right pocket. I've used the same 2 Taom chalks playing daily for a year. No longer lose them.
I used to use a magnetic chalk holder that went on my belt. It was similar to the blue one you had to your far left, but the clip was thinner. I stopped using it because the constant tugging every time I chalked up eventually broke the same belt loop on EVERY pair of jeans I owned. I still keep my chalk in the holder (without the belt clip) because it keeps others from stealing my chalk. As the chalk wears down, I pull it out of the holder, put a couple of pieces of cut-up credit cards inside the holder, and replace the chalk. I'll keep doing this until a little hole gets worn into the very bottom of the cube.
I'm definitely looking into the leather holder. I don't always wear clothes with a pocket or belt. I've even put it on the top of my knee high boots..lol Mine was a slip-on belt holder, and exactly like you said, it falls off ..I was constantly losing both the chalk and holder. People would walk up to me all the time, saying I think this is yours..the last time this happened I just set it on the rail, attached to the holder..it fell in the pocket of the table. The owner where I shot couldn't get it with his tool, they redid the felt on the tables and still didn't find it..the magnets were so incredibly strong, they chewed up 2 gloves and the holder would pull the magnet out of the clip, regular super glue wouldn't hold it either. On the leather ones I've seen they're sewn so I'm assuming that isn't an issue. Thanks for the info.
I use Taom but I made a paracord that fits on a ring that's mounted in the holder. The holder is a rubber compound, but when it starts to get low I just put quarters in the bottom as spacers. Nickles work well for Predator and Master chalk.
Hey Bob, regarding the metal chalk holders: just open the screws, take out the metal clip and bend it slightly -> This narrows the gap between the clip and the metal plate and your chalk holder will fit perfect on your pockets :)
Great video. Thanks for the review. I'd love to just leave a comment on the editing of the video if I may. The brightness and exposure seem to be very high and it made the video look very bright and it was kinda difficult to see the intricate details of the designs. I'd suggest lowering the exposure and brightness in the post-editing of the video and in general just playing around with the sliders to make your video look easier on the eye. Thanks!
Yeah, when I had the clip, I got used to only sliding the chalk downwards from my pocket to avoid the issue of the magnet coming off my jeans. Once I lost the chalk holder part, I started super gluing a nickel to the bottom of my master chalk. I prefer the leather pouch myself. It's not for everyone, but I am able to use it proficiently. When I practice at home, I still just leave the chalk on the table. I may try one of the leather ones I hear, @BilliardsGeek makes a good one.
Due to all those issues, I would look back to the pouch. I play snooker and I’ve used a pouch for years. I would recommend buying the best leather ones and none of the others.
In snooker... Well in pro snooker... Chalk on the table or rail during a shot is a foul. This is why they dont put the chalk down... Cos they cant. Love your vids buddy!
Its funny watching some pro pool matches. Sometimes the referee shags a players chalk from the rail and hands it to the player after they have left the table. Sheesh!
@@ShortstopOnPool where im from (Scotland) committing a shag would have you thrown out of most places 😂 Ive not seen such a foul occur in snooker but i have heard commentators mention it when a player put it on the rail for a second. Thankfully our prudish bbc never broadvast a snooker referree shagging anything lol
One thing you can do is buy a magnetic chalk holder where the magnet is in the clip, and then take a small stack of quarters and some good gaffer or duct tape, and tape the quarters to the bottom of the masters chalk. If you cut and apply the tape well (kind of like wrapping three sides of a present that has two pieces (the chalk, the quarters) stacked on each other when it’s opened)… then you can have a couple of chalks that stick to your belt magnet as backups
NO HOLDER. Put a couple of strong neodymium magnets in your pocket, and glue a chalk sized washer to the chalk cube itself with goop. Done. Way less bulky, and you can use your chalk until there's zero left, no holder in the way. No holder for your chalk to fall out of if it's loose either. It does put some wear on your pants where the magnets sit, but the ease and convenience are worth it in my opinion.
Amazon sells a set of round magnets that are .98 diameter (Taom is 1"). 14 magnets (you will want extra, because LOTS of people will ask where you got the chalk holder and you can share) for $18. One in a pocket, one taped with two-sided carpet tape to your chalk. BAM...done...$2 each. I warm up the magnet then tape the chalk to it and let it cool. Sometimes the Taom wrapper comes loose, so take the bottom off and tape directly to the chalk.
@@ShortstopOnPool Thanks. Found several with black colors so I ordered a couple, but could not find one that sold different colors like you displayed in your video.
Thats cool your old school and appreciate gadgets. Most, not all of my older fellow shooters at the pool hall hate gadgets. They still use masters chalk and dirty up my balls. I hate cheap chalk. Good chalk is revolutionary
I too have been interested in a chalk holder that clips to my pocket. I want one of the leather ones from the video. I have looked at eBay and there are a lot of knockoffs. Can someone give me a better clue on what brand is the leather one or where to get it? Pooldawgs doesn’t carry it. Thanks.
The cue and chalk always go where I go. The three of us travel together on every shot. Always take the chalk with me to the table when it's my turn to shoot. I put it on the rail during the shot, always facing up, then once I'm done missing my shot 😀 it and the cue go back with me where I'm sitting. I think players should NEVER leave their chalk at the table but at the very least NEVER put your chalk upside down on the table. It makes everything dirty and it's selfish.
I just use my back pocket. Unlike the leather pouch you don't like, my pockets don't build up chalk because it gets removed in the washing machine. Also can't lose the chalk holder because I don't need one.

Thank you! I've been looking at these for a long time, your video helped me pull the trigger on a leather one so if it sucks it's your fault LOL!

A friend got tired of misplacing the holder so he just glued a washer to bottom of the chalk.
Genius and simple! Love it 😀
Appreciate the reviews. Good for newcomers like me.

I bought metal dots for my Taom and use a magnetic clip

Any reccomendations?

nice review but would been nice to give brands of holders you show. especially the ones you recommend.

Others also mentioned glueing a washer. I already tried it and its perfect. Genius.
Now I'll try just magnets in the pocket. Simplicity. Thanks

Just dont accidentally put your cellphone in that pocket…
The Chalk Shark is pretty good but it is expensive.
Where can I find the leather double magnetic holders you displayed? Thanks.
Several different sellers on ebay.

Same question - holder for taom? Thanks much
Search google or ebay for "round" megnetic chalk holders. There are many. You will find the one I like.
I had the leather one and chalk would come loose and drop to floor with a slight bump. Do you have this issue with your two favorites?
Nope

Hello! Where can I buy the chalk holder with two magnets for the pocket? (Minute 4:30)
Is it the billiards geek leather magnetic holder?
I don't remember. Just google "leather magnetic chalk holder". Don't get the cheap versions.

I need the link to find the leather double magnet 🧲 leather holder please
Type "leather magnetic chalk holder" into ebay. There are bunches of them.

I only ever wear shorts and a really baggy T-Shirt when I play, so none of these holders would be viable sadly.
I can’t hear you
just boof it in between shots
