I wish there was a store like this near me. This is an excellent idea to solve food deserts! Olives = yes please!👍😄 Seeing the products helps me when I shop to recognize vegan options. Thank you Chris!🌱💚
Wow you got some great deals on some good stuff! The owner was really nice . I wish they had a bargain grocery store near me. I love olives too, I would definitely buy a case of them. Great video Chris 👍
I love your vegan budget shopping videos! I also have to avoid many particular foods due to intolerances and other health issues, but these videos are still majorly helpful. The owner here is great, and the store itself is an awesome resource! So generous and genuinely concerned with helping people in the region who need it. Wow. Thanks so much for showing this.
I'm the same with food intolerances him allergic to all food. I thought I had it taken care of by 6 years old but it came back under huge dressers that wouldn't stop for 5 years actually more butt the big finale was every day for five years and it still going on so I have to not eat just to make it through the day. The stores do have other things that are vegan that you can totally avoid like the wheat. There's a store called Grocery Outlet Bargain Market here. Opposite side of the u.s. . I'm wondering if they're related the other prices aren't quite as awesome. In fact I've bought produce and then gone to the expensive store and it's a better price and better quality? These guys definitely have it be and I seen a picture of the founder and it's a different person he has kind of red hair and looks like a cowboy. But the name Grocery Outlet Bargain Market makes it seem like they're related? I wish you luck with the food sensitivities. Work on your microbiome. And keeping your liver in good shape. But the gut is where the problems are. I was born with a mutation of a gene that eats your muscles and such. But like I said I thought it was dealt with I was such a healthy adult until now after 50. I will return again healthy I just need to find a place that fits my needs much better. Meanwhile I have to figure out what I can eat while stress is still a big factor.🖤👣🐾🥀🐸🌱
Gomez Addams Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Though, I’m so sorry you understand what it’s like. I react to all food, as well, due to mast cell activation syndrome (so I understand how hard it is to not be able to eat-I mainly save these videos for my husband’s shopping for now, since I’m GJ feeding tube dependent. If I let myself eat, I pay the price in pain, burning/itching skin and eyes, brain fog, neuropsychiatric symptoms, but I try to keep my stomach active at least once every few days by introducing something orally, even with the effects that happen after. This doesn’t happen often, and it seems like you understand completely how it feels to not be able to have food without reactions. And I’m betting you understand what happens when we try to eat something (eating even a small few bites every couple of days can help, I’ve seen) recommended by Dr in a lot of cases, to avoid complete digestive tract paralysis from no use. I’ve been working on my gut/microbiome hugely for ~7 years, with many types of treatments over time, once my eyes were finally opened to the reality of our gut being our second brain and most of our immune system. Thanks for your comment again-I’ll say a prayer for you in your battle. Also again, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, too.
Yep, olives are yum. It's quite heartening to see the owner of this place, really someone who cares about people's access to affordable good food. Nice topic, Chris.
Thanks Chris and Jon... That's such an awesome place and the owner is wonderful for doing this... I truly hope that they get the help they need to spread this throughout the places that are really in need... God bless 🙏🏼💕💯💯💯
I love living frugal. I wish they had a store like that near my home. That is veggie and fruit heaven. Nothing wrong with those just because the skin has a spot or isn't to the standards of the big grocery stores. Sometimes the Lidl where I shop will sell produce that are like the store you went to. Just not as often as I would like. And you asked for it. NO OLIVES! 😂😂😂 hate them but love mushrooms 😜 😂😂
Olives are delicious! I wish we had a place like this here in California I need to budget shop! And that place the most amazing prices I've ever seen.. #mindblown
This is so amazing and we need more of them!! I always look for the clearance produce in grocery stores cuz 80% of the time there isn’t anything wrong with it!
When I was a kid there was often blemished produce, it was normal. I know this sounds gross but I remember biting into an apple more than once that had a small worm in it. We would just spit the piece out and continue eating. It was just normal in the 60's to sometimes have a less than perfect fruit or vegetable. At least it wasn't sprayed, not that organic was even a concept that we even talked about. I'm sure some stuff was treated, but a lot wasn't. Kudos to that owner and founder; I love that you interviewed him. I've always enjoyed these type of videos of yours, although I live in Ontario, Canada and we don't have the same chains. You never know. Some day I may take a road trip to NY!
What a cool store. I don't know of any in the Charlotte area, but there is definitely a need for discount grocers other than Aldi (which can be out of reach for some people, either financially or too far away). And yes to olives!
Yes to olives!!! Yummm! I would love to encourage an support a place like this in my area! I hear so many friends say that they cannot eat as healthy as they would like because produce is expensive, as are many vegan products. Is there any information on how to propose such a business in our areas? Thank you so much!
Dang Chris! $35 for all that? I’m a Albany NY native. I wished I was back home to shop there! Here in St. Louis I have never seen anything like that store. Very resourceful you are. Keep up the good work!🙂
It would be great if the Midwest had this store. (I'm glad I finally had a Gardein ad before the video, instead of a non-vegan ad. YT analytics might be learning.)
green olives, no. Black olives, yes, but kind of like a garnish on pizza, in spaghetti sauce, or on nachos. I can't eat them straight, the taste is just way too strong, but they add a nice little something when they're mixed in with other stuff.
Pasta and pasta sauce imported from Italy at such reasonable prices, Veggies look amazing even with blemishes and the prices well the prices on everything this place looks amazing.
Wow I’ve never seen prices that good! Wish I lived nearby to shop there. 😔 I want to try that Annie’s vegan Mac and cheese but I haven’t been able to find it at any of the stores here in Canada. Also those olive snacks look awesome!
Love this stuff! Also just saw you stopped at a Eden Vegan Cafe in Scranton a couple years back. They have another cafe in Wilkes barre pa now. Absolutely great food and a great owner!
Yesssss, Olives rock!! Chris, thanks for taking us along. I couldn't see any expiration dates on the packages. Are they within dates or close to the dates for 'best by' or 'use by'?
How much do you think you spend on food in a typical month? I have been trying to keep track of mine and it fluctuates a lot. I like olives but not that brand in the little pouch. Also I think mac and cheese is cheaper to make from scratch and is about as easy as from a box.
absolutely hated olives as a kid - i remember a few times when my parents would order a veggie deluxe pizza and it came with olives, they would try to take the olives off after i said i wouldn't eat them and then i still wouldn't eat the pizza because of the residual flavour. meanwhile, as an adult after trying them again in recent years, i can't get enough. my fave are the green olives stuffed with jalapeño peppers. i also discovered a fresh olive tapenade from the refrigerated area at trader joe's and i love that too! i have a question about the grocer... how do they give such a discount on the pasta or some of the freezer items. is it due to severely damaged packaging, dates that are about to be stale dated or are they just donated in some way?... just trying to understand. for the produce it makes sense - we have a place like that close to where i live but i don't understand the rationale for the reduced pricing on other packaged items.
Hi Chris, I love Olives, black & green! I won't give Craig, a hard time about NOT liking Olives, because, I don't like Mushrooms as you! I guess WE All have something. lol I wish Oklahoma, had this Store♥️ What a great way to give back! Thanks, for the Video! Hug's & Kisses to Indy and Zeke 😘 ♥️ Blessings, Piper
