I remember watching this on my Grannies tiny black and white telly. Along with Billy Cottons Band Show. The Black and white minstels. And Dr Finlays Casebook. Happy Days.
Looks pretty mundane to me. The same 'high-kick routine every week and built around them not wearing dresses/skirts. Check out what Igor Moiseyev was doing with his dancers to see how far behind they are.
I was watching an American learning about Parliament and Betty Boothroyd came up in the comments, I remember Betty had been a Tiller girl so thats the reason I am here. I watched the Tiller girls every saturday night on TV at the palladium. they had better standards than the Guards on the Queens birthday parade lol.
Bet not many of these ladies knew about the Hoffmann Girls, who did big precision numbers in New York in the 1920s. Gertrude Hoffmann had been a 'shocking' solo dancer in the early 1900s ih turns such as Salome's Dance of the Seven Veils. She turned to choreography and started her troupe in direct imitation of John Tiller's Girls, like the Rockettes shortly afterwards. Among its members, as a kid, was the great Marika Rokk. Gertrude was the leading woman choreographer of her day, but she quit c. 1940 and hardly anything is known about her later life- whereas Tiller's family kept going, as we can see.
American viewers: the London Palladium live shows were modeled on Ed Sullivan's 'Toast of the Town', but Ed did not have regular precision dancing. No retakes here- you got it right first time or never, with 15-20 million Brits watching for goofs. But the Tillers rarely made a mistake, and British ladies were the creme de la creme of showgirls.
Hey :) I don't suppose you could tell me where you got this video from? I'm currently making a documentary about an ex Tiller Girl and would love to use the music from this clip.
I have a new tune of musical composition you can use for a writer,my name is Thomas Grove from America,i have put a small music clip on UTUBE on People and Blogs just to hear something of my Repitwire
Maravilha de tempo em que, as mulheres eram lindas sensuais e tinham aparências de professoras e senhoras educadas. Hoje, todas obesas, tatuagens horríveis, grosseiras.
Grew up watching this. Sunday Night at the London Palladium was the highlight of our weekend! Even The Beatles were on it!
Two of My Aunts Were Two of The TILLER Girls and I am very Proud To Be Able To Say That.❤❤❤

The Tiller Girls were better Drilled than the Guards at Buckingham Palace too! lol
From the days when television was entertaining
Is there a Tiller girl called Angela? I was born in 1963 and was named after her as she was my Mum’s and elder sister’s favourite Tiller girl.
Muito lindas +!!!!!
I wonder whether Betty Boothroyd who became best ever speaker of house of commons was kicking with them in. those days.
💜😪💔
How many of them are still alive ??
